What was super sad was the disrespect for the history through the museum , people able to wonder around while the unorganized staff took breaks , mind you the breaks started right when the event was supposed to start. People were allowed ( because they weren't watched or told not to ) grab history from the shelf's to touch even when the shelf had a sigh "don't touch ". This ghost hunting night was a sad and complete joke . $20 fee to get in , with over 30 people that attended , I hope the money went up the museum like they said it would , just a huge disappointment that the representation of the museum and the lack of respect to the history - JUST SAD!!

I was very disappointed when I made the mistake of attending this year with my wife. The "home town" atmosphere is gone. You might as well call it a Carnival! There are no "local" cooking booths, as in the past. Not much to look at in regards to displays for the older folks. It does not even come close to what the old fair used to be! I was born and raised in Porterville and have attended many Porterville fairs since way back in the sixties. This year, sadly, will be my last! I will miss the fun...but the fun is not there anymore!!! It is apparently geared for only the kids now!!! I will now only attend the Tulare fair in the future. It still has that "home town" feel! Sad day for Porterville!!! Oh...the animal auction was at least a weak reminder of the fairs of the past. But very tightly quartered! The food that was offered for sale was extremely over priced for the portions....and we declined to partake. Obviously it was geared to take advantage of customers and was not of good quality! The concept he explained to me is the following. Think of it as a gym membership but for art. You pay a monthly fee, come up with what you want to learn and bring your materials. There are great teachers to guide you and certify you at just about anything. They have a glass blowing, clay, woodwork and even a 3D printer. It was impressive that everyone we met there somehow chips in to help with the training of your art production of choice and once you are certified, you are able to use the machines with minimal supervision.
