Terrible place to send any family or friend's. My patient is back in the hospital after being properly assessed and discharged

My wife has been under the care of Burbank Hospice since last year, when she spent two months in the hospital battling two major vascular surgeries, pneumonia, septic shock, two weeks in the ICU, and the underlying illness driving all this...Multiple Sclerosis. Once she was stable, the hospital's palliative care team recommended discharging her to hospice care. I spent a lot of time coordinating with the hospital hospice representative only to be told a day before discharge that their agency could not care for my wife since she had an open and infected surgical wound plus another open healing wound. None of the other major hospice companies would help us either. As you can imagine, this caused us a great deal of stress and anxiety. After making a few calls, the doctor found Burbank Hospice Care who stepped up and took on the challenge This turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The Burbank Hospice team took on my wife's case energetically, managed the difficult wounds with a "wound vac" and pic line, and monitored her lingering pneumonia and other infections. Slowly, over time, my wife rallied with this excellent care despite the fact that the doctors only gave her days to two weeks to live after she was sent home. Burbank Hospice staff provided all of the necessary equipment, supplies and prescriptions, which was monitored by regular visits from the agency's nurses. Whenever I have a concern or a worry, the Burbank Hospice team responds quickly and with compassion. Recently, my wife had another setback after a procedure and spent three weeks in the hospital. Again, Burbank Hospice was there after discharge to oversee her care and she is now resting comfortably. My wife's battle with this chronic illness has been an isolating experience with few visits from family and friends. The Burbank Hospice team is now like family to us. Their care, compassion and responsiveness have taken a lot of stress out of a very stressful situation. We are grateful for their support and would highly recommend them to anyone seeking hospice care for a loved one. read more

Burbank Hospice Care really showed the compassion we needed as my family was going through a very difficult time. My aunt, which was battling cancer for far too long was in need of hospice care. As her caretaker, I did my research and interviewed a few companies and found that Burbank Hospice Care was the most suitable. My assumption was very shortly confirmed by the professional and detailed care that Burbank Hospice put into the entire startup process. Not once did I feel uncomfortable with any choices we had to make as they were very patient with me and the rest of the family. The nurses came over to our house and took care of my aunt on time and with a great attitude every single day. What set Burbank Hospice care apart for any other company I interviewed was that they took their time on our first call and spent extensive time explaining everything very clearly. This process continued for months as they always made sure we were in clear understanding of every step we were going through. Burbank Hospice Final review: It is with bitter sweetness I write this review. My parents after battling with cancer went to sleep in the Lord within 5 days of each other. Burbank Hospice was during this time not only my life line of medical support as a caretaker but, also they became a family. Their exceptional compassionate care and genuine empathy for my parents' care has left a deep impression in me that there are indeed health care workers do give a darn. To hear a friend of mine who worked for 11 hospices say to me that Burbank Hospice is the best of all is a confirmation that we chose well for our parents. I have a quote on my living room wall as a reminder for me as a caregiver no matter how difficult it gets to do it in love; "Let all that you do be done in love" 1 Corinthians 16:14 Was I always successful? "No" Was it easier because of Burbank Hospice? Absolutely; Better the hospice, the easier caretaker's work. My parents are no longer here. I am staring at these white and yellow flowers; bouquets sent by Burbank Hospice and the nurse Yosef (mom's favorite nurse) This season of my life is closing. I have not figured out everything yet and everything is uncertain. But, one thing I know for certain without the help of Burbank Hospice and excellent care and work of its employees; Tiffany, Hasmik, nurse Yosef, Patty, Maria, Dr. A, Ann, and entire social worker team, I would not have been able to do this and work fuill time. It is never easy to say good bye to a loved one. It is even more difficult when you live in different states and are unable to be with them as much as you would like. Our great aunt Mary was always an independent woman and we were her only family, so it was difficult to feel at peace finding someone to help us care for her in her last days. Burbank Hospice helped us care for her the last 2 months of her life. They respected her and treated her like family when we could not be there. They were so kind, helpful, respectful and knowledgeable. In the end they were compassionate, genuine and comforting for her and us. I'm so grateful for Burbank Hospice Care. Both my grandparents were taken care of by the amazing staff, docs, and nurses before they passed away. It's so comforting to know that good people can take care of your loved ones instead of the entire family spending the last few months dragging everyone to and from hospitals...which was the case for my other grandfather who passed away almost 2 decades ago. I was a kid back then but remember those days, it was so draining and tough. No one should go through that. Working in hospice can sometimes ask for compassion beyond one's limits: Burbank Hospice demonstrate this ability. This is a tight knit team that is able to see beyond our limitations and do best for my dad. We transferred to Burbank Hospice after sub par care from another hospice agency. Because of Burbank Hospice's excellent care, i am supported with the understanding that these times are for us to enjoy my dad and process the priviledge of grieving my dad. I have no hesitation in recommending this responsive agency. The quality care starts from the top and trickles down. I have the Durable Power of Attorney for my aunt's health care. When she became terminally ill, I contacted Burbank Hospice Care as I knew they had a reputation for compassionate and personal care. From the moment she was admitted into Hospice, Burbank Hospice was there for us and provided for all of her needs in a timely manner. From the delivery of oxygen and the hospital bed, to the coordination with her health plan. They took a huge load off my shoulders and allowed me to simply spend the last days with my Aunt instead of worrying about her care and chasing down services for her. They were extremely efficient and kept me in the loop with updates and changes in her health. Amy, the social worker was wonderful and helped me with finding a mortuary to handle our needs and to make the arrangements so when my Aunt passed, we had everything in place. Burbank Hospice is a great company that cares about the families who enroll their loved ones in hospice. I have worked with them for nine months and they could not be any more supportive, reliable, caring, experienced and professional. They were recommended by our primary physician and have worked very closely with both of us and the assisted living facility my spouse has been in for six years. They have seen me through stressful times and worked closely with me and my knowledge of my spouse. There has never been a hesitation with supplies, medications or patient care and they work with top notch people. They have been available 24/7 when care has been needed. I highly recommend Burbank Hospice. My spouse has had Alzheimer's disease for approximately 13 years and was with a previous hospice service for a year, there is no comparison. read more

My friend and I looked up hospices in our community when her dad was diagnosed with cancer. Not having any information or prior experiences, we drew up a list of five local hospice providers with a variety of specialties. And the interviews began. We treated this process with the utmost importance. After all, we literally knew nothing. All the staff was super friendly and informative. Tiffany gave me more detailed information than any other of the other companies. They walked us through the entire process and literally held our hands throughout the entire process. We never felt in the dark. They provided us with all the medical equipment, supplies, and medications that the doctors said were needed. At first, we thought of hospice as a death sentence. That was truly not the case. Eventually, my friend's dad deteriorated. It took almost a year. Ultimately, we are thankful to have had the opportunity to honor his wishes to die at home. Having grown up with this man, it was a blessing to hold his hand during his final days. The Burbank Hospice team was at our beck & call at every hour of the night. This hospice care is not very organized. Very disappointed in the care my family and my mother received. While in the hospital we were guaranteed at any time my mother needed to go back to the hospital they would provide an ambulance for her. After being home for one week on hospice care my mother felt it was time for her to go back to the hospital she was worsening and needed 24 hour care that I wasn't able to provide without a nurse or a doctor. When I called for help via phone they told me I was on my own so I had to rush and drive her to the emergency room where two days later she passed. now three months later after my mom has passed I get a phone call from not only a nurse but their doctor asking to come visit my mom and check in on her. How ridiculous could this be that's how on organized.I hope I never have to use hospice care ever again the worst experience ever no compassion whatsoever. read more
