Do not let him touch your neck! Thomas Harvey injured my upper neck and I may never be the same ever again. Ive had many chiropractors adjust me on and off in my life without any issue. Thomas Harvey even adjusted me a handful of times and I was fine but on May 1st 2025 he messed up the adjustment and caused damage to the ligaments in my upper cervical spine. Now I have "Cranial Cervical Instability," Google it! YOU DO NOT want this to happen to you. I went from being a professional dancer in excellent shape to almost completely disabled physically for 5 months. I couldn't even walk more than a block and had constant headache and neurological systems. After doing expensive stem cell and PRP regenerative injections I have improved to where life is mostly livable again but I'm still nowhere near back to normal. I have uncomfortable neurological symptoms every day and have to avoid certain things that flare up my neck. It's been over 16 months now. My next move is to fly to Denver to do the PICL treatment to help further restore the ligaments he damaged. The only alternative to treat this condition is a spinal fusion. There are many of us apart of a Facebook group for Cranial Cervical Instability that were injured by chiropractors. Some were injured the very first time their necks were adjusted. I've had a lot of experience with various chiropractors for over 30 years. I hadn't used any in the last several years due to heavy-handed clumsiness, getting much better results from a massage therapist trained in kinesthesiology who could perform the same adjustments by working on muscles and tendons. I found and visited Dr.Thomas Harvey for my back pain after all other options failed. During my first visit ( free of charge) Dr Harvey evaluated my MRI and explained it to me. He was honest that if my pain related to the cysts I have he would not be able to help; but will be able to help me with disk compression. He recommended 10 session using DRX 9000 decompression machine+ manual adjustment. I completed 10 sessions and feel 90% better. I still have to do stretching and special exercises daily, but honestly, Dr. Harvey took me out of the hole. Quality of my life has changed dramatically. I started seeing Dr. Harvey December 2010 because I have scoliosis. After having a bad experience with bracing for two years, I was devastated and a bit hopeless that I would ever get better. Dr. Harvey sure changed my perspective when I met him!! I started off at approximately 23 degrees for my thoracic curve and 28 for my lumbar curve when I first met Dr. Harvey. He assured me that it was possible to get better without any surgery and he was right! I've never met a doctor who is as dedicated as he is with his patients. He truly takes the time out of his day to have one-on-one time and come up with an individualized plan of care that will benefit the patient. Throughout the years that I've been his patient, I have made a lot of progress in my well-being and have managed to bring down both of my curves below 17 degrees! After a few years of 4-5 visits/year, I now visit Dr. Harvey about twice a year. What I love about Dr. Harvey and the Clear Institute is that there isn't the use of a brace or surgery to treat scoliosis. I had a serious neck issue and went to USC, Upper Cervical doctors, etc. with no help. Dr. Harvey was very modest and said that he should be able to help and if he cant he will do his best to point me in the right direction. He took x rays that were SO much cheaper than the other places I had gone. He brought me in to his office and measured the distance and curve angle of all of my cervical vertebrae in relation to one another and compared them to what they should be. And just as I thought, my neck was curved in the wrong direction and had a slip forward at C2. He put me on his 2 month plan that was three visits a week that had adjustment, exercises, and some therapy, along with hame exercises. And after just a couple weeks my neck was curving back in the correct position and after the 2 months my neck is unrecognizable. It looks like there is no injury at all. But you must do the exercises! He knows what he is talking about. And if you do what he says you will get so much better. read more

I've been seeing chiropractors since I was in my teens (spine screwed up from accidents). These chiros would adjust and in all cases the muscles would pull everything back out of alignment (& because of ligament damage in my neck). I kept going back as it was temporary relief from pain and thought eventually the adjustments would stay. They never did. I wasted 10s of thousands on these chiros over the years, so much time and unnecessary pain (& damage caused by repeated poor adjustments). Additionally, the pain steadily grew worse and I lived with pain at a level of 5-8 daily. I couldn't work without excruciating pain and the only thing I could do comfortably was lay down. This is at an age of only 36. Now, thanks to Dr Harvey pain is at a 0-3. The majority of the time it's 0. Dr Harvey is the only one I've met so far (in my decades of experience with chiros) who learned how to do his job effectively, find the root cause of chronic issues and address them so that everything isn't immediately pulled back out of alignment. As he says "if you can measure it, you can fix it". He's the only one that spotted the ligament damage, fixed the spinal alignment, halted the excruciating headaches (from a bone in my neck that was rotated out 90°), got me OFF the wrongly prescribed heel lift which nearly crippled me, & removed the two bulges in my lower back. Other chiropractors might be fine for you if you don't have chronic issues. Beware, though, they might create new problems. What he's done so far for me: -thorough assessment of full spine through xray analysis, evaluated acceptable angles of verterbrae -head weight to train muscles in neck to compensate for ligament damage and keep neck straight and aligned, no more migraines -assigned regular exercise regimen that corrects crooked posture and weaknesses leading to misalignment, & chronic pain -tractioning lower back on machine to heal bulges (I had 2) ***5 months later still doing great. From my first treatment in November to now April, back at the gym doing p90x but carefully. Have noticed that coffee (strong vietnamese), poor diet (like processed food) can exacerbate issues. ***6 weeks later & overall pain levels are down to 0-3. I haven't felt this free of pain since I was a pre-teen. I never thought I would feel good like this. I've had days where I feel so good I feel like I could run (while going for walks). Two years later and I have done some careful running. This guy is a gift to mankind. The other less than competent doctors should swallow their pride, overcome their mental laziness and get with the program of healing people instead of treating people with chronic conditions as cash cows. ***over 1 year later and I stand by the original review still. It hasn't been cheap. But being in a wheel chair or sustaining liver damage from pain medication is expensive ***over 2 years later and I've discovered that doing difficult but careful work at that gym such as deadlifts, clean& presses, & squats help my condition stabilize. Battle ropes are very helpful as well. The posture exercises he gives aren't quite enough. seriously hard work is what does it, but your condition may differ. My condition was chronic due to two difficult issues in two critical places. You have to be careful and ease your way into intense work. Don't go lifting heavy weights to begin with. Fantastic experience. I typically don't go to chiropractors, but a regular doctor specifically recommended that I seek out the services of a chiropractor. I hadn't been to a chiropractor in more than 20 years, so I didn't know what to expect. The last chiropractor I went to saw me on a "continuous repeat visit" plan. He expected me to come to his office every week, forever. Dr. Harvey was very different. He laid out a short, clear plan, and told me to see how I felt at the end. I felt great, and have no plans to continue that specific area of treatment at this time. His rates were also reasonable. I expected the service he provided to cost a lot more than it did. My schedule is awkward, and he worked around my schedule to ensure that he could see me when I was available. If I ever need adjustments or spinal work of any kind, Dr. Harvey is MY chiropractor. I came here with a 13mm herniated disc in my L5-S1. I was about to schedule surgery right before I stumbled across this very Yelp. I did all the research I could on the drx 9000, I doubted it, I came in for my consultation. I was shocked the price was pretty low to do the treatment, and it all worked out that I was able to afford it. My last effort before surgery. I tried physical therapy, pain meds, regular chiropractors. I just wasn't improving and the pain was getting unbearable. Dr. Harvey was honest and upfront. We began treatment. Some weeks I felt amazing, others I felt incredibly sore and thought I was not getting any better. However, when the treatment concluded and about two weeks past, I felt amazing. After over a year of 9/10 pain on a scale of 1-10, I was comfortable in a 3-4 range. I could bend over way further, put my shoe on, put my shorts on and not want to cry. Doctor Harvey is the best! He's honest, realistic and enthusiastic about his patients. A little over a year ago I was rear ended pretty badly. After some MRIs and months of crippling pain I faced my worst nightmare, I had four herniated disks in my lower and mid back. One being my sciatica. I had shooting pain in my left leg and I wasn't able to keep my healthy and incredibly active lifestyle. I went from working in the film industry working on my dreams, hiking, climbing, doing martial arts and keeping in shape to barely able to sit through a 90 minute film, drive more than a 30 min ( which is impossible here in LA, and keep up with my peers physically. I was depressed and almost hopeless with overwhelming pain daily and through the night. My injuries were effecting everything in my life and that's not an exaggeration. I was at my wits end after months with another "Chiropractor" had amounted to very little resolution to my pain and suffering. All I wanted was my old self back. After a quick search on herniated disks online I found the results on the DRX-9000, a de compression device that had shown a lot of promise and had relieved many of similar injuries. Dr. Harvey has a knack of knowing the instant your muscles relax and just popping things to where they're supposed to be, so you don't ache for a day afterwards. Everyone there is friendly and things move along. Dr. Harvey and his staff are the best!! I experienced unbearable sciatic pain down my right leg this past June. I couldn't walk for more than 10 feet and I spent most of my time in Bed. Dr. Harvey diagnosed me correctly and set me up for an MRI which found I had a herniated disc and degenerative disc disease. At that point primary doctor asked me if I wanted to discuss back surgery after reading the MRI report. I was terrified of the possibility of having back surgery. My husband introduced me to Dr Harvey. He has MS and benefited greatly from Dr Harvey's adjustments. After a few car accidents 15 years ago I now needed help. My husband and mom already went to Dr. Harvey for years (and sang his praises) so now it was my turn. I had excruciating/burning leg pain that I could no longer ignore, this had basically stopped all activities that I liked doing and even walking was horrible for me. I knew if I went to an orthopedic surgeon that surgery would be in my future and this along with pain pills I didn't want. I went to Dr. Harvey and he sent me for an MRI, 5 days later he was able to show me on the MRI how really bad/messed up I was, I was actually worse then we both thought. I started decompression therapy the next week 3 times a week for about 2 months. Two years ago I really screwed up my lower back. At times the pain was so intense I couldn't walk, drive, or even stand up for more than a minute. I went to see my family doctor and he sent me off to get an MRI of my lower back. The MRI revealed two bulged discs that were pressing on my spinal cord. I wasn't happy about taking pain medication or the thought of back surgery so I did some research on line and learned about spinal decompression. I went in to see Dr. Harvey about spinal decompression. He spent time with me explaining bulged discs, spinal injuries, and how decompression can help. He was very friendly and took the time to answer all my questions. After the first few treatments I was able to get around much better and my pain had been reduced by about 50%. When I finished the treatments the pain had been reduced by about 80%. Now I go in for maintenance and chiropractic treatment. Today I'm 90% pain free and want to keep it that way.
