I don't want it to close; but Il Piccolo Diavolo is so much more than all of those together. An intimate, unpretentious atmosphere in this family-run place makes it perfect for couples or small groups. It's never too busy - you may need to wait a few minutes on a Friday night but you should get seated. The owners are extremely friendly and I love capping the meal off with a Limoncello. But the food? Get the burrata if they have it on special. Get the mozzarella, antipasta platter or Arancini if not. For the main, look at the menu standards but get them to explain the specials. You won't understand it all but trust me it'll be great. If you can persuade one of your table to get a pizza do it. It won't be as good as Fabrizio's but that's more of a take away thing. Order 500ml of the house wine per couple. Top up with more or beers as you see fit. If you're still full get the panne cotta. This is pasta as it should be. With rich sauces. Lovely service. I just love, love, love this place. I was compelled to write this review when I saw nobody else had bothered to. The next time I go, which will be soon, I will get some photos to add to the review.

This family-run restaurant gets everything right, from on-trend stuffed gnocchi (pillowy dreams in a stunning sauce) to pizzas with health-giving hemp and turmeric in the base. I adored the truffle pizza and would go back in a heartbeat for more of the gnocchi. It's an amazing job that Maria has done here, with her Calabrian roots coming through strong and clear in the delicious food.

We shared some dishes between us so had an opportunity to try lots of different dishes, including their new pizza bases; turmeric and wheat & hemp! Always up for trying the latest food craze, I was happy to indulge! We started with the Burrata & Nduju Bruschetta. The Burrata was delicious and I enjoyed trying the Nduju as I hadn't had it before. It is pretty spicy so a small bit was enough for me. I would probably suggest sharing it as it might be intense for one person. For the main meal we shared some pizzas and pasta dishes. We tried the turmeric pizza base with the mushroom and truffle toppings and the wheat and hemp base for the Fiorentina. The turmeric is a mild addition and not too overpowering, but I felt I noticed the flavour more, the more pizza I ate. I actually preferred the the hemp base. The gnocchi however was the highlight for me, it was melt in your mouth delicious! Delicious little pillows!! The lobster and crab ravioli was also really good, but the portion isn't huge, so if you're really hungry then maybe order a starter as well. To finish I was keen to try the connolo! It was really nice, quite sweet in parts, but I was disappointed that they forgot to add the chocolate chips!! I didn't realise until half way through, but once I did realise, I missed them!! Lamezia is a lovely restaurant and if you're after a warm Italian welcome with good food then give their family restaurant a try. They have actually been shortlisted for The British Restaurant Awards, so more good things are on the way. I know they will be adding some more quirky pizza bases to their menu.

Essentially, every time I'm left to my own devices, I'll guiltily order myself a leek and potato or capricciosa. I probably have one every two weeks, girlfriend-approved or not. The pizzas are absolutely superb. Thin-crust, reassuringly sloppy, actually quite sparse in quantity, but jumping with well-balanced and fresh flavours. The menu is a little eccentric, stretching beyond your meat feasts and barbeque chicken globfests. Instead, it carefully straddles the line between foodie-certified weirdness and pretentious hipstery. If this place was in Shoreditch, it would feel a little more tryhard. On balance, the pizza is 5-star, but Organica is slightly let down by some of the necessary stuff around the edges: erratic delivery times (sometimes over an hour), variable quality (from excellent to better-than-average) and gougey prices (£13+ per pie). Despite that, it comes highly recommended and trumps the big chains every time.

Couple of interesting things, I did the take-away experience, and it was really fun to see the guys at the pizzeria bopping away to some Trance Goa music while they were working. Kind of felt like joining the party, lol. I ordered the Americana Pizza, which is essentially cheese, pepperoni, and some chopped chillis. All in all a decent pizza; not the best I've had, but definitely not the worst, and actually better than I was expecting, given that the area tends to be surrounded by B or C grade fast food joints (think refried/deep fried chicken joints at the like). The cheese was a bit over the top, and the pepperoni felt more like salami, but the chillies were intense. The base is great as well. I'll order again, but it's not super cheap either (17£, medium pizza and rocket salad).

Finsbury Park and this area of North London is rapidly being gentrified. Rightly or wrongly I hope they get the balance right but it's fine when you get independent eateries coming into the area. And this is another well worth the trek one. Started off in Clapton Yard Sale Pizza is a no frills pizza joint. Exactly what I like and think pizza should be. It's bigger than the Clapton branch and has some great pizzas. Four were on the menu plus a special. The pepperoni with Nduju is always a winner with me. One of my failsafe combos. The TSB (tender stem broccoli) is deemed one of their favourites by popular demand and though it's good I think the cheese makes it great, so maybe I don't taste as much of the broccoli as I would like? Either way the cheese sings gloriously. And I actually think here they nailed the cook time and it was made so I could fold it perfectly with that essential sloppiness needed to. Round 2 consisted of with one of their specials. The mullered mushroom with Five points brew smoked shrooms & caramelised onions. Bitter, sweet, damn right hitting the spot I liked it. Nice to see some inventiveness not just with food ingredients but with the very beer brewery they serve with. Great thinking whatever you think. Also a salted garlic bread was light, crispy and not overly garlicky which is what people often overdo. All served with Brooklyn or five points beer that's a good selection to start with. Lovely friendly staff so not much more to ask for. 12 and 20 inch pizza mean il be coming back for more no doubt. Especially since I go to The Arsenal most weekends so will probably drown my sorrows in beer and pizza. Keep the good vibes going in this part of North London!
