Improv night with a glass of rosé
Sarah R.

You were all sleeping on this place! They have a great events! Singo is my personal favorite. They also have some fun events that go along with different sports and even some shows! For Halloween, they have a murder mystery party 10 out of 10! The staff is superb, if cheers was a wine bar it would be buon vino. It's owned by a local Dan who makes everyone feel like family! If you haven't been, what are you even doing?

We've been enjoying Buon Vino for years and are thrilled for their new space! Dan, Jackie, and Erin are all so welcoming and you instantly feel like family upon walking in. You can order a tasting flight of four wines for $20 or get a glass to enjoy. The bottles are about $20-$30 and with purchase of 3 waives a tasting. They also have cheese and charcuterie boards you can purchase to snack on while you enjoy your wine. The wines are all great and the staff is all knowledgeable about the wine and walking you through your tasting. They have a large bar that you can sit up, high top tables in the front space, a lounge area, and private room you can book in the back. So spacious, welcoming, and comfortable. We love stopping in to enjoy a tasting before heading out to dinner. Such a hidden gem in Walnut Creek and a must visit, you won't regret it!

Buon Vino is a Walnut Creek staple. We've been tasting there for 3 years and like bringing out of town friends there to experience a light, upbeat, and fun tasting. Dan and the crew always provide a pleasant and friendly experience for wine tasters of all levels and the wines Dan hand-picks from small batch local wineries are unique and fantastic. One of our favorite local weekend afternoon activities pre-Covid was blind wine tastings, which will challenge even the most veteran wine connoisseur, and we can't wait to partake again once the pandemic abates. If you're in need of a local, cost effective, knowledgeable spot to get wine, go to Buon Vino and say hi to the crew. We just picked up the perfect wine to celebrate the end of this challenging year and I'm sure you'll find something perfect for yourself too.

Absolutely love this place!! I was walking down the street and decided to pop in after driving by it for over a year. I am so happy I did! The owners are delightful. So much that after my tasting I called my husband and we went back to try it together once he was done with work. The atmosphere is fun and the business has a very interesting concept and I loved the wines I tried. Every single wine in both tastings were delicious! The staff was very warm, friendly and welcoming. I seriously felt like I made friends and that says a lot to me. I had a wonderful time learning about and discussing wine with Dan and then later meeting his sister! The wine was delicious and it was fun to try a variety of wines from both Sonoma and Napa in the same place. I think one of the best things was being able to talk about the wine and laugh while Dan greeted people entering the shop. Pros: Friendly Welcoming Pet and Kid Friendly Unique Affordable Fun Cons: None.

Awful wine. Big place which was great for the big party, but simply put, we won't be returning. :(

We had a wonderful visit here!…read more It is a beautiful setting, but still low-key and not pretentious at all. All the employees are grounded, friendly, and very knowledgeable. We also got a tour of their Italian winemaking equipment. The food was surprisingly good. Found out later that the chef has a Michelin pedigree. My filet was amazing! It came with bone marrow which was unique and very tasty. The views are incredible. The vineyards...Mt Diablo and the views of the clear night sky with low light pollution are breathtaking. Go for the scenery, stay for the wine and the food.

When we first arrived we were seated right away and given waters immediately by our lovely host, after being seating it took 15 minutes for our waiter to even look at us and when she did she said "Do you know what you want to drink?", this was our first interaction. It took about 20 minutes to receive our wine and when she brought it to us she never let us taste the wine before pouring it, which I have never experienced at any other winery. After leaving it took an extra 10 minutes to receive our order of French fries, luckily the water machine was right next to us so whenever we needed a refill we could just get up and get it ourselves! We almost asked them to not even bring out the bread because it had been 45 minutes after ordering before it came to our table. I think we would have been more understanding if it was a busy night but it was the complete opposite. I could have driven all the way to Napa, been served, eaten a full meal, then home with my teeth brushed in bed by 8, but instead I'm at Shadowbrook waiting for my bread. Overall the food was great, the wine was excellent but the service was absolutely horrific! We felt overlooked and unwelcome from the start. Our server barely acknowledged us and gave the impression that we weren't worth her time while serving others next to us with enthusiasm. Unfortunately the 20% service charge did it for me, I wouldn't mind paying if it was worth it, if I could tip our waitress less I would.

It's serene, grounding, and quietly stunning--a place that invites you to slow down, take a deep breath, and savor both the wine and the moment. From the moment you arrive, the owners will make you feel like old friends. Their passion for what they do truly shines through, and the service is friendly, attentive, and never rushed. You can tell this is a labor of love, not just a business. The wines are fantastic--with something for everyone. I love the chardonnays and my bf loves their wine slushies. Very refreshing on a hot day. Another plus is you can bring your own food as long as there is not an event taking place where they serve food. Be sure to check their website calendar before you arrive. If you're looking for a one of a kind place in Castro Valley, that is beautiful, relaxing, family‑run, and genuinely special, this is it. It's the kind of winery you want to bring all your friends, and recommend without hesitation. Highly recommend.

Tucked away along the winding backroads of Castro Valley, this charming winery feels like a little secret escape. It's quiet, secluded, and has a really welcoming vibe. The staff was super friendly and made us feel right at home. I learned the winery has been around since 2003 and produces around 1,000 cases a year. All sold exclusively at the vineyard. We did a tasting that included a sparkling, two whites, two reds, and ended with a fun slushy rosé. Honestly, I liked every single one which never happens for me! After the tasting, we didn't want to leave. The setting was so relaxing, we ended up opening one of the two bottles we bought and spent the rest of the afternoon soaking it all in. A few tips if it's your first time: tastings are only offered on the second and fourth weekends of each month. There's a $10 tasting fee for six wines, but it's waived if you purchase a bottle (which are very reasonably priced at around $16). They don't sell food, but you're welcome to bring your own, something we'll definitely do next time. So glad we found this place such a peaceful spot, just minutes from home. We'll definitely be back!
