I returned to Bull Steakhouse for my second visit and brought a friend who had never been there, even though he's lived in Lynchburg his whole life. He enjoyed his meal, which I appreciated. However, my own experience wasn't as strong as my first time. I ordered the same entrée and drink as before, but both the Bull's Margarita and the sweet potato were noticeably smaller. My fried ice cream with honey -- which I loved the first time -- wasn't the same. The honey was thick, overly sugary, and hardened, instead of fresh and smooth like before. I also value good service, and even though I tipped over 20%, the server didn't smile, make eye contact, or offer a simple thank you. That made the end of the meal feel less warm. Because of the inconsistencies in food quality and the lack of acknowledgment from the server, I'm giving this visit three stars. read more

I don't have much positive to say about this place. It was so meh. The prime rib was weird. It's slathered on top with some kind of seasoning. Is that a thing? Undercooked, and sides are so odd. Bulls is suppose to be a steakhouse. If steaks is a part of the restaurant name. one would think steaks is the specialty of the house. WRONG! l've been to the restaurant to try thier prime rib twice now and was highly disappointed both time. The first time I ordered the prime rib, medium rare, it was plated more on the medium and was barely pink in the center. It was aslo both dry and tough. I thought maybe this cook, hard to call whoever did the roasting can be called a chef, was having a bad day. The second time I tried it, again ordering medium rare, the beef came as an end cut which is probably the dryest and would not be where a medium rare cut is made. It was more on the medium well side. I stabbed it with my fork and looked at a stiff as a board cut of meat. It appears as though Bulls does not care how you order prime rib, you get whatever is the next cut in the beef. My wife enjoys one of thier tex/mex appetizers which is why we were there several times for dinner. We will not be back. If your wanting prime rib, go elsewhere. read more

Do NOT go here for a romantic date. Disappointing and Unprofessional Experience I had the misfortune of having the worst dinner experience of my life at this restaurant. The waitress consistently flirted with my boyfriend throughout the evening, asking him numerous questions while ignoring me entirely. This blatant lack of professionalism ruined the intimacy of our date. To make matters worse, the dinner was extremely expensive (over $200 for two prime rib orders and an additional steak dinner), and I was the one who paid. The evening was meant to honor my boyfriend's service to our country, but it ended with me in tears. The manager's response to my complaint was underwhelming, merely apologizing and stating that they would discuss "reading tables" with the staff. I regret tipping the waitress and haven't returned to the restaurant since. This incident was a significant disappointment. The staff also interrupted serval times asking how everything was, on top of the waitress ruining the date. I didn't want to pay for an expensive meal to talk to strangers. I had heard good things about this place. I was looking forward to eating there but after my experience, I heard "yeah, they used to be good." The atmosphere is rustic with wood everywhere and the service is good but the food... The salad has the cheapest and not the freshest ingredients. My steak, the ribeye I paid $24.95 for, was tasty but nowhere near the size advertised. It was 6 oz. At best and overcooked. We went for lunch, after my neighbor suggested it. I had been here once before about 7 years ago and was not impressed, but decided to give it another chance after my neighbor said it's one of his favorite places to eat. They weren't busy, and we were seated right away. The atmosphere is rustic, even nostalgic. There's a huge menu. I ordered a French dip with a side salad. The salad was recommended by my neighbor who said it was large enough to eat for lunch all by itself, for only $3. My son ordered the hamburger steak. It took a really long time for our food to arrive. My au jus was spilled, and there wasn't enough for the meal. The salad was large, but the lettuce was wilted and the cucumber was slimy. My son's hamburger steak was bland, and the green beans were very salty, and tasted like they had artificial smoke flavor added. I drank water and he had a soda. Our lunch was over $40. Went to Bulls last month with the wife. Haven't been here since the early Summer. Was surprised how much the prices went up. But if the quality is good enough, I won't complain too much. They were out of their less done cuts of prime rib (this was around 8pm), so I went with the 12oz sirloin ($22.). The wife went with the 6oz ($16.) Once again, Bulls didn't disappoint. For a sirloin, it was superbly done and at a perfect medium rare . Sadly, we didn't have any room for their fried ice cream, which is the best on planet Earth, & quite possibly the galaxy . I shouldn't have ordered the cheese sticks appetizer, hehe. Which is also pretty good. Occasionally more expensive, I love supporting our locally own restaurants & eateries. Service was slow, our table was ready but we were made to stand and wait because the server was talking another tables order and then she requested that we wait until after she served that table their salads to be seated. I understand that you don't go to a steak house to get veggie food, but the retried beans and veggie fajita looked like a good alternative for someone who can't eat meat. The beans had no flavor and the veggies were swimming in oil and butter with no taste. The chips and salsa are a nice touch, but they are out of a bag and it's Pace, so nothing special. Absolutely loved Bulls Steakhouse! The staff are wonderful and knowledgeable about their menu and history. The atmosphere is cozy and the music was perfect! Everything on the menu is very reasonably priced and yet you get an amazingly delicious meal. We enjoyed the tender, exceptionally prepared and seasoned ribeye. All I can say is I want to drive the 6 hours back to Bulls to enjoy another ribeye! The lovin spoon chocolate pudding cake was phenomenal. Should have gotten my own instead of sharing! Great restaurant! I can always count on Bulls to have consistently good food at competitive prices. The lunch specials are a great deal and there are a good range of options. The atmosphere is nice and easy to chat in, with more privacy than many places - but admittedly a bit outdated. The waitstaff has always been kind and helpful; one of my favorites is Shannon, who goes overboard to make sure your meal is great. Their steaks are great but my favorite are the salads. Our Prime rib and Surf & Turf meals were excellent! We got a salsa and guac chip appetizer because of the extensive tex mex menu but it tasted store bought and the guac was a little turned. Our practice and staff are regulars at Bulls so we decided to have our Christmas dinner there. We reserved a table in the bar area which is where we normally sit .We had a great setup and next to the fire. The only problem was that regulars starting coming in and surrounded the corner bar area in groves. They were moving chairs to sit at the back booth next to the door with no regards to the covid rules. This was very alarming to a staff of seven that works in the medical field. Ordered a ribeye steak that came out 10" x 5" by less than a quarter inch thick. The first bite tasted as if it was rolled in salt. The green beans definitely came from A can. He called them selves and steakhouse however they only had three on the menu. There was a lot of different options who had nothing to do with steak. The price for this small salty meal was 26.99. Not a fan of the chairs at the tables they don't scoot on the carpet and I'm a big guy felt like a sausage. I know what an ass to bring it up but nothing is worse then eating a delicious meal and feel like you are going to drop the food from your fork travel distance . Bulls offers both traditional western steakhouse and light Mexican meals. It is a nice family-friendly environment for casual dining, with a small bar, smoking and non-smoking sections. The food is pretty good - the owner said that he hand-cuts all of the steaks himself. The prime rib, pork chops, and fish were all regarded as pretty good by the table. Sides are green beans, baked potato, etc. and portions are ample. The quality of the meat and fish was pretty good as well - definitely a step up from Outback or Applebees. We didn't try any of the Mexican items. The staff was very friendly, service was good, and the prices were very reasonable. If there are any other Yelp'ers out there, I would like to get some feedback on what happens when you have three of the "Bull's margarita." They state that there is a limit of 3, so maybe something interesting happens. They serve Rolling Rock, which was a cool touch. Bulls is a great choice for family-friendly, non-chain dining in Lynchburg. Figure $15-20 per person if you stay out of the bar. Consider this one a 3+ star restaurant. read more

Extremely friendly and pleasant service. Meals were very good and at a reasonable price as well. You can figure $25 per person including drinks. ....and we both had steak. Ambiance was very casual, which was one of the reasons we selected Bull's Steakhouse...we were traveling and we're not in a position to dress. Only thing I would change is the draft beer menu.
