East Didsbury Metrolink is the terminus of the East Didsbury-Rochdale (South Manchester) Line on…read morethe Manchester Metrolink. It is located close to a Tesco Supermarket and Parrs Wood Entertainment Centre, the latter is home to a cinema, bowling and a few restaurants. East Didsbury railway station is also around 200 meters away. It is technically located on two lines, as it also serves the East Didsbury-Shaw and Crompton route, but the route is exactly the same, but just stops at Shaw rather than continuing to Rochdale. The station opened in 2013 and connects East Didsbury to the city centre in around half an hour. It'd take 32 minutes into Victoria Station. The station has a large car park, to encourage customers to park their car and hop on the tram, it's the largest car park I've seen on the Metrolink and parking is free with a tram ticket - but to be fair it isn't somewhere you would park unless you're catching the tram. There are a small number of seats on the platform while you wait for your tram to come in. The platform area is partially covered by shelter but on particularly wet and windy days, you will not be too protected. I did find getting out of the station a little tricky, there is a staircase and a lift, but I ended up just walking out through the car park instead, I do think both exits could be better sign-posted, like at other stations to show what exit leads where, especially for those not too familiar with the area. Pretty much your average tram station, the large car park is handy and it'd be nice to see this rolled out at more stops along the network. 3*

East Didsbury is one end of the C line, the other being Bury. The stop itself is a Park and Ride stop, with a sizeable - and more importantly FREE* - car park on site. This is usually packed during weekdays with commuters parking up to get trams elsewhere, but during the evenings it's a lot quieter. The car park itself is currently part of a pilot scheme where Metrolink are allowing car park users to leave their vehicles overnight**, so that if you catch the tram in to work and then go on to have a few beers overnight you can leave your car safe in the knowledge that you're not coming back to a parking fine the following morning. There's not much more to add here, really - it is just a tram stop, after all. * The car park is free for Metrolink users. ** Overnight vehicle parking was acceptable at East Didsbury at the time of writing, April 2016. Do check the Metrolink website for changes. No liability accepted on part of the reviewer or Yelp if you don't check and incur any fines or other penalties.

I still use them when I to and fro there for various reasons. We've used them countless times since moving to the suburbs, and they've not let us down. In fact my visiting friends asked one of the drivers for a curry house recommendation in Rusholme and he was only happy to oblige... and it was one of the nicest curries we've ever had. Plus there's one driver who always takes me to SafeStore and is as friendly as they come - last time he even showed me some pictures of his lovely family on his phone (while keeping his eyes on the road, obvs... I'm not daft) and asked me about my driving lessons. He even helps carry my ridiculous volume of boxes to and fro. He's a keeper. If that doesn't make them a good cab company, then nothing else will! Note: There is however one driver that I've since nicknamed as having The Deathcar. That guy scorches over speedbumps like some kind of demon. Kinda smells like booze too. Meh, it's an adventure...?

That was the most important, and if the minibus did not come with a restroom I should have been told and then we could have worked something out with upgrading to another bus. Second of all I receive an email from Rik stating that he is going to bring a tour guide with him on Sunday. I assumed this was actually a tour guide not his girlfriend which does not even work for Belle Vue. My executives were excited at first and then all she did was print off wikipedia sheets on the sights and told my executives to read about them. She fell asleep on the coach never got off the coach and on the return home is when one of my executives figured out it was his girlfriend/ wife. They were talking about going to Australia together and he had a picture of her and their kids on his phone. We did not pay for a coach to have a driver take his girlfriend to London for the day. Also, I paid 75 extra pounds as Rik stated we needed an extra driver. There was no extra driver on this trip only his girlfriend. Rik drove from Manchester to London and back by himself. I also went over the agenda with Rik before Sunday, and told him all sights can be visited if done by my agenda. Rik had the audacity to speak to my executives and tell them they cannot complete all of this that day. It was not his place to do that, and then mention they should leave London early to miss the traffic and for them to cancel their dinner reservations that I had arranged at a very nice restaurant close to the Tower Bridge. If they would have gone to dinner they would have missed the traffic from the game. I am very disappointed with everything I have heard from all of my Executives and this makes me look bad, as I chose your company based on your reviews. This was a lot of their first time visiting our facility in Stoke on Trent and visiting London. Rik even asked for a tip and even though my executives did not want to tip him, because of how horrible everything was. Tom which was in the front felt obligated for being put on the spot and gave him 20 pounds. We are requesting half of the 1045.50 pounds that we paid for this service to be refunded to us. This was the worst experience my executives have ever had and that is putting my name on the line. We do this every year at different locations, and I have never had a failed event until now. very disappointed in what Rik had done and how it reflected on me as I am the one that chose the Coach service. This is my formal complaint to them. All I heard after this was excuses and reason why they dropped the ball and then refused to give us our money back.

I have a love-hate relationship with the Metrolink in Manchester, there are so many things which…read moreare good, yet so many things which are terrible about the service. Metrolink is arguably one of the best ways to get around Manchester, in terms of speed, you skip the traffic of the roads, hopping on the tram which is always handy, especially with multiple stops having Park and Ride facilities, meaning you can park your car and go about your journey. Obviously, there are some exceptions, for example, if you're heading to Manchester Airport from the city centre, you would want to take the train which takes around 20 minutes, compared to getting the tram, from Manchester Piccadilly it would be a 57-minute journey, across two trams, changing at Cornbrook. Metrolink are also doing very well during difficult circumstances, they're maintaining the best route frequency to allow people to travel when needed, and space out too, the trams are often around every 10-12 minutes on most routes, meaning there's never too long to wait before getting a tram. They are also cleaning trams every two hours to make sure they are COVID-safe and secure, I think this is a reasonable time-frame given the circumstances. The trams are mainly comfortable and pretty spacious, the floor does get very slippy in the rainy weather, which we get more than our fair share of in Manchester so watch-out! There are 8 lines and 99 stations, all of the lines seem to call through Cornbrook, with 7/8 lines calling at Deansgate-Castlefield and Pomona, so you can pretty much get to any stop from anywhere if you're willing to change services along the way, but it would depend on how realistic it is, for example, it wouldn't be worth going from Sale to Sale Water Park, despite being only a couple of miles away it would be a long tram journey due to the construction of the lines meaning you'd have to change at Trafford Bar. All stations are step-free too, so that supports access for disabled people/trams without the need for ramps, sometimes the access is awkward and it is a good walk from the platform to the street, especially in stations away from the city centre outside of Zones 1 and 2, so again you might want to plan ahead. I do like the zone system as it simplifies the ticketing process (just touch in with your contactless card and be charged the lowest fair), it also means that if you are just going one-stop, you won't be charged for going into two zones, as when the zone changes, the preceding station is the following zone. Example) Sale - Zone 3 Brooklands - Zones 3/4 Timperley - Zone 4 The huge cons I have with Metrolink have to be, their customer service can often be pretty poor, I've tried to phone them many times, even using the customer service help point at the stations only to be greeted with the message "This person's phone is turned off", I get staff are having to work from home during the pandemic, but it's called "work from home" not "turn your phone off and ignore passengers from home" Other issues are, I hate how the trams don't have card scanners, Metrolink is one of the few trams I've used in Europe to not have either a conductor or anywhere you can scan your pass on board, this means if you're rushing for a tram, you could potentially miss your service through having to stop at the platform to touch-in, which is pretty ridiculous. I do think conductors on the trams would be great, especially to avoid this problem and stop anti-social behaviour, which can be a problem especially in certain areas/routes, it would also help tackle fair dodging and provide money to actually improve services, I openly heard a person bragging about the trams being free... due to a lack of inspections. It's great to see Metrolink working on expanding their routes too, in March 2020, they had a quiet launch of the Trafford Centre line, which finally added Metrolink services to the Trafford Centre, calling at Wharfside for Old Trafford Stadium, Imperial War Museum for Media City, and then Trafford Centre, I do think it's pretty strange how the construction of the new line came early, but the new trams for that line came late, this meant the services have to terminate at Cornbrook right now, which is annoying as it means changing trams. 4* - Still one of the better ways to get around town in most cases, the grey and yellow trams are becoming a symbol of Manchester, like the orange buses used to be, it does have its' flaws including the fact that on a match-day at The Etihad Stadium, they never seem to run enough services which often means waiting for ages and then being packed on the tram like sardines.
