The other thing we are happy about is that the school offers many field trips during the school year (Burke Museum featured in the picture below). Also, the preschool shares the playground with Bryant Elementary across the street, which is really nice. We are very happy with our co-op!

The…read morecoop model was exactly what my shy child needed, and I saw him blossom in that environment. But my outgoing and independent kid also declared it the "best school ever" and wishes we could go every day. The range of activities for kids to do keeps them thoroughly engaged as they play and learn. There is a great balance of free play time, outdoor time, and more structured circle time. Snack is also done in a way that lets kids be independent while getting the support they need. And often there is a 'cooking snack' that they get to participate in preparing - they love that! I'm always amazed by how creative and fun the activities are. It's never just pages photocopied out of a coloring book. And there is always something new to try. I'm not sure how they come up with all their ideas but I'm sure glad they get to do all those cool messy things at school and I don't have to do them at home! The best part of coop are the teachers and parent educators. You see right away that this is a passion for them, not just a job. The kids and parents immediately feel that they care about them and that they are in a supportive, safe environment. Coop follows a positive discipline method that gently guides kids to expected behaviors in a way that is always developmentally appropriate. Teacher Christi is an actual child whisperer. She leads them effortlessly and cheerfully, never raising her voice or showing any signs of irritation. She is endlessly patient and understanding and manages to be simultaneously sweet and firm when it's necessary. I honestly wish she could be my kids' teacher for as long as they're in school! I think I am a better parent for having been in coop with my kids. The teachers, along with the parent educators are there for us as well - not just the kids. It is truly a learning experience for all involved and provides a rich community that is supportive and caring. I recommend this coop to anyone with kids this age!

I can't say enough wonderful things about Wedgwood Montessori, Miss Metti, Karina & Maria! From…read morethe moment we walked in, it was clear that this Montessori preschool is a special place. The staff are incredibly warm, caring and dedicated to creating a nurturing environment where each child is valued as an individual. The classrooms are thoughtfully designed to foster independence, creativity and critical thinking, with a perfect balance of structure and freedom. My child flourished here - not just academically, but socially and emotionally as well. The Montessori approach allows them to take ownership of their learning, explore their interests, and develop at their own pace. The emphasis on hands-on learning and practical life skills has been invaluable, and it's amazing to see the growth in confidence and self-reliance. As a first-time parent, I've learned so much from the teachers here - not just about my child, but about parenting. Their gentle guidance and encouragement have been such a support to me. The way they model patience, respect and positive discipline has helped me approach parenting with more confidence and understanding. I never expected that the school would offer me so much help along the way! I truly believe that choosing Wedgwood Montessori was one of the best decisions we've made for our child and I wholeheartedly recommend this preschool to any parent looking for a thoughtful, child-centered educational environment. We had peace of mind for her care while at work and I can't thank them enough!

The leadership (Metti) and staff (Karina) provide not just implementing preschool curriculum but also integrate nurturing and social emotional aspects to guide kids to learn/ know the community and be part of it in a positive way. Love that they differentiate outdoor shoes from indoor shoes to keep the classroom floor neat and clean, love the concept of stone soup festival for fall (kids learn to bring their favorite veggies to share with all and prep the food together), love that they host special celebrations for Mother's Day and Father's Day (customized), love that they have a super huge sandbox outdoor with covered so it won't get wet, love the staging / theater cabin where kids can explore their endless imagination, love their slide are wide and smooth, love that they don't share hamlet to prevent lice. My kids learned so much not just about colors numbers alphabet animals but also the space, planets, insects' life cycle, math, earth, ...etc that my kids were ahead when they started kindergarten. My kids always wanted to stay and play and interact with peers and staff until the school close and never wanted to skip school. The school hours fit our needs for working parents and tuitions are definitely reasonable. Definitely highly recommend WM!! Thank you so much Metti and Karina!

The educators here are not only exceptionally skilled, but also deeply compassionate, committed to seeing and nurturing the best in every child. The school fosters independence, confidence, and a strong sense of community. Some preschools strike me as chaotic, while others seem a bit too library-like; I think Northwest Montessori strikes a thoughtful balance between academic learning and play, ensuring a structured yet lively classroom environment. We've seen our kids develop a broad range of skills--motor, executive function, literacy, math, creativity--within a highly cooperative setting, and they have of course made many close friends. I also think that the Northwest Montessori team is deeply committed to INCLUSION, embracing children of all backgrounds and needs including neurodiverse learners. I've always felt that every staff member at NWM, from teachers to administrators, is dedicated to creating a space where each child feels at home and can reach their fullest potential. The Wedgwood campus has three classrooms, each mixed-age from 2.5yo to 6yo (thru Kindergarten). I wasn't sure how a mixed-age classroom would work at first, but honestly it's been so awesome--it's super cool to watch kiddos learn to mentor and teach one another, and my kids have picked up so many leadership skills from being in a mixed-age environment. They have a lovely little playground that is both secure and offers a wide variety of equipment, and the kiddos always have a wonderful time. This school has not only supported our child's growth, but has helped our family heal from previous bad experiences. Our older child has since graduated and is thriving in public school, while our younger one is still benefiting from this incredible learning environment. We couldn't be more grateful for the dedication of the educators at Northwest Montessori, and we wholeheartedly recommend it to any family seeking a nurturing, inclusive, and empowering early education.

NW Montessori is all that I hoped a child care center would be and more. The teachers obviously love what they do, the director and other staff are the best at what they do, and I feel more at ease knowing that there is an option in Seattle like this establishment. My son has only been there a couple months, but I think its the best decision I have made. He is much happier there than Lil People's World.

But we would like her to do those things while leading a life that respects her fellow man/woman. Next to the door of one of the kindergarten rooms at Villa, the teacher has created a mural with the words, "Respect, Compassion, Self-Discipline, Citizenship, Trustworthiness, Honesty, Responsibility, Fairness, Perseverance, Integrity". The Villa Academy is not some haven for rich kids that merely gives lip service to these values. They walk the walk. Even the earliest preschool classes have seasonal projects that focus on helping others. Service to others is a main focal point. Our child's teachers have all been excellent. Small class sizes with classroom assistants keeps the classroom environment orderly and focused on learning. Mrs Olson, you ROCK. To an outsider, I'm sure Villa might appear to be a bastion of the WASPs. Be careful. As soon as you drop your guard, and stop viewing people as wealthy snobs, you just might discover that most parents at Villa are really very warm hearted folks. People go out of their way to help each other out. And Villa parents are very, very dedicated to both the kids and the school. While my child has benefited from Villa, I think I have grown as a person as well. For what its worth, there are plenty of folks who are not Catholic who send their kids to Villa, and quite a few who are not Christians. We are very, very happy Villa parents. I won't make light of the cost, its not cheap. But people send their children there for a reason, and its not to brag to the neighbors. Its an excellent school, and an excellent community.

Recently, the opportunity to work a few extra hours during the week came up, and as it is Christmas, a lot of my mom friends (who would normally watch kiddo) are traveling, entertaining family, etc. In comes Whirlwinds. We attended a party at the UVillage location, and were thrilled with the toys and idea of a drop-off daycare center. Their max is 4 hours, which is a little tough, but it works for most situations. Also, it is CHEAP at $8 an hour. These girls are AWESOME! The one on staff this morning (Kylene?) was friendly, professional, and best of all, immediately made efforts to warm my wary-of-new-adults little guy. She also went with his pace, rather than just getting in his face and yapping and make him uncomfortable. This facility is large and has a lot of different kinds of toys to entice kids of all ages. It has a fenced off play area, a lunch area, and a clean and easy to access bathroom. I was ten minutes late to pick my son up, and even after being ten minutes early to drop him off, the staff was still very accommodating and kind. If the need arises, I will definitely be using their services again.

For what I think is a very reasonable fee they supply the invitations, the plates/silverware/napkins/tablecloths, access to more toys than you'll ever have in your house, and even the cupcakes and juice (if you choose). There's also someone who does the setup and cleanup. You just show up, kids have a good time, then you go home. What's not to like? Plus there was almost no fighting over toys - and this is with 15+ toddlers. I attribute to the fact that we weren't in anyone's "house" (less possessiveness if the toy isn't "owned" by one of the kids). We did bring a little bagels & coffee for the adults, and put it in the nice gated entry area to keep it away from the kids. I will totally plan to do a party (20 kids is the max) here again - easily good for any kids under 6, and the staff was wonderful to deal with. Again, I've never used this for drop-in day care (our kid is in pre-school full time), which is their main business during the week. I'm sure that would be great, as it's the same space, toys, and so on.
