Had a great time. This is our second visit to this BAB in the last few months. They are helpful and very nice

    Birthday Bear

We came here the other day to get my daughter a birthday bear. I didn't realize they had bears that only cost your age. So she picked up the birthday bear and we had it stuffed and got an extra beating heart that when it's in the bear, you just press it, and it beats. We got a happy birthday shirt, a jean skirt, and rainbow shoes. I also saw they had the Gengar back in stock. The cashier said they were out of the ones you can get stuffed, so I ended up buying the display. I didn't like the pajamas of the more costly one, and this was half the price. Gengars don't wear clothes in the games, so I was more than happy to get just him. The stuffing experience was neat. I had never seen it done before. You were able to press on a peddle and it would stuff the bear. We got a birth certificate and a little condo box. My daughter named the bear Stuffy Soupy. We'll be back next year since you can get them all the way up until 14 years of age.

Bring your check book! Kids love this place...parents might not like it so much at the register. My daughter had the time of her life making the kitty (yeah, I know it's called 'build a BEAR'). I am actually amazed too because the initial "newness" hasn't worn off- she is still treating the kitty like a child and loves it! This is great as a reward for something but not a regular thing, too expensive. My daughter got all A's this year so this was her reward :).

    Nice and quiet Thursday morning

Brought our 2-year-old to experience Build-A-Bear for the first time, and she had a great time! The associate (Liz) was super friendly and interactive. We were the first family in the store on a Thursday morning. That's the time to go. There was only one other family there, so no worries on being packed in. Be prepared to spend some dough if you give in to your kids - our toddler was enamored with one accessory and it was $30 (no, we didn't buy it). We walked out with a new friend and two accessories for $25. Not too bad for a fun memory.

I think the grandkids would have had more fun of the place was called Build-A-Turd and they got to stuff and dress a turd instead of a bear

The energy is always high, the vibes are immaculate, and the staff keeps the shelves stocked with a ridiculous variety of comics, collectibles, action figures, FUNKO Pops, short boxes, supplies, and more. It's literally the kind of place where you can lose an hour without even realizing it. First off, say hello to Pacer, the AMAZING shop dog and official mascot of Gotham City Limit. He's the sweetest, the best greeter, and the best browsing buddy. Who doesn't want to shop with a good boy by your side? If you don't see Ben, you'll definitely hear his greeting from somewhere in the store as that man is just nonstop. Ben's dedication shows, especially on Free Comic Book Day and special release days, when Gotham City Limit turns into a full-blown celebration. On top of that, he partners with Jacksonville Public Library when they host comic-centered events and you'll see him at different conventions throughout the year. Ben makes sure everyone, from kids to hardcore collectors, feels welcome and included. Also big love to Jonathan (one of the OGs of comic shops in Jax) and Santana, who are always ready to talk storylines, their newest recommendations, or help you find the one issue that you didn't know you were missing. My pull list will ebb and flow depending on what is being released or if I want single issues of something. However, the numero uno items that I always want to see are the latest Baby Marvel covers from Skottie Young. The team has my account tagged for those specifically, and that kind of attention to detail is incredible. It's the kind of personal touch that makes you feel truly seen as a collector and fan. Gotham City Limit is a little slice of geeky heaven in Jax and one of the last remaining locally owned comic shops in this area of town. So make sure to swing by for a visit sometime soon and, as Ben says, always take it to the limit!

This is my first yelp review ever, and that goes to show how awful this place is due to the fact…read morethat I'm signing up just to sway people from going here. I've been to this place three times and after my third visit I'll no longer go back and here's why. On my third visit, I gathered up three of my friends to go there and we're from Jax Beach so it's not a short drive. I bought some figures last time I was there and was hoping to see more. We got there and he told us that the AC is broken, and it has been for well over a month but I honestly didn't care that much. We get in and there's hardly any room to walk around. There's boxes everywhere and it was extremely cluttered but he kept commenting to be careful if we tried to pick up boxes and look and what's underneath. I only saw two power rangers figures and asked if he had any more and he said, "There's some over there, and on top of that thing but too bad nobody cares about power rangers." The last time I was in I bought power rangers and he made a rude comment about how terrible power rangers are and how they're a rip off and he doesn't understand why anyone would like them. Mind you, this is while I'm literally handing him money and he's making fun of me for buying it. I'm not upset at him dissing power rangers because I could care less. But imagine if you were at Publix and you bought a Turkey sub and you get to the register and the cashier says, "You like Turkey subs? What kind of loser are you? Turkey subs are absolutely disgusting." After he told me how much he was asking for certain figures, which were extremely overpriced, I stopped looking. My buddy saw a box of He-man figures behind the shelf and attempted to walk back to pick them up and the owner said, "Hey man! You can't go back there." So my friend had to ask him to go grab the figures. He did and said he wanted $100 for the whole box. My friend just wanted one of the figures and the owner said, "Well I'm selling the box because I don't know how much they go for individually, all my prices are at home." Okay... cool. Then he was saying how many G.I Joes he had(another thing my friend collects.) He said, can I see them? He left all of them at his house with some other ridiculous excuse. He's apparently been buying more merchandise to fill the store up instead of fixing his AC. I know this review makes me sound like a total douchebag and that I'm a stickler and such but I'm not. Bottom line is, the owner is unbelievably rude and unorganized and shows no care to the few people that come into his store, which is nearly impossible to find. His figures are overpriced. I'm never going back and I highly recommend you don't give this place your business.
