We have never employed the services of an exterminator before, and were not sure what to expect. I called several places and Jacob was the only one who returned my call in a reasonable amount of time (i.e., same day). He came over to walk through our house and give us an estimate. He was fantastic with our son and dog, and was thorough with his explanation about the products he uses and his methods. When he returned to work on our house, he was again thoughtful about his methods and thorough. It's only been a few days, but we definitely notice a difference! Bug Zapper Pest Control has been my pest service for years and I appreciate their services. Jon comes to the house after sending a text that he is on the way. Leaves a card explaining the services completed, so you know exactly what was treated. I also appreciate that I can call anytime if I see unwanted bugs showing up. I have to give Bug Zapper a low rating. Not because of the service that they provided. The service was good. My contract with them was for them to come out every other month and spray for ants and spiders. Afterwards, I would pay for the service. My complaint is with their new billing system - they now want payment up front, a month before any service has been provided. This is not what I signed up for. My last service date was in mid February and I paid for it in full ($77). My next servicing was due in mid-April. When they started a new billing system in March, I was sent an invoice for service that had not yet been performed. Invoice date: 3/25/2022 Service date: 3/25/2022 NO SERVICE WAS PERFORMED ON THIS DATE. My assumption was that it was to be applied towards the upcoming April service. Well, I prefer to pay AFTER a service has been provided, not before. I canceled my subscription. I thought we were done. I planned to call them this summer if I had wasps nesting in my siding, but it would have been a one shot deal and not a subscription. Now, they are demanding that I pay this March payment, even though they never provided any more services after the February spraying. Expecting free payment when you haven't provided a service is not what I consider to be a good business practice. It may only be $38.50. But, it's still robbery. I can't help wondering that if they were still on the old system, would they have charged me $77 at the end of April, even though the service was canceled? I hope not. So, now I'm expected to pay for half of the canceled service, a month before it was scheduled, just because they changed their billing system? read more

I started off really optimistic about this company. Their website has a lot of information about rat exclusion and how they make the problem go away. Their guarantee was confusing but I wanted to give them a shot. Another friend of mine said she really liked their monthly service. My first conversation was with Jesse. I told him about my problem and expressed to him my concerns about keeping my dog safe during the process. I didn't want rat poison around anywhere and I didn't want traps where she could get to them. She's a boxer. He suggested sending out a tech to do a site visit for $75. They would make recommendations based on my situation and the service would run at least $500, including the $75 initial visit fee. I also told Jesse that I needed a call before someone showed up for an appointment so I could make sure my dog was secure. He said he would make sure it was in the notes. The initial tech found a long-dead rat and cleaned it up for me. He quoted me $650, including the initial visit fee, because of the extent of my infestation. This seemed incredibly steep but I needed to get the service started. I made an initial payment and was told I would be called to make the next appointment. For the next several weeks, I would get calls between 4:30 PM and 6:30 PM the night before for a service call the following morning between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM. This was inconvenient for me because I had to take time off work to be home. I made it work. I called and asked for my appointment schedule. I was given the next few weeks ahead of time. Then things changed at work and I wasn't as available in the mornings as I had been. I called the office to ask for my schedule again. I got one week's worth and they promised a call back with the following month once it was completed. I never got the call. All I got was the late-afternoon messages about the following morning. I started missing a lot of appointments at this point. I remember letting them know that before 8:00 AM didn't work for me but someone showed up without a call at 7:30 AM one week. Other weeks I just wasn't available at that time. It was definitely a double-fault. I could have been more proactive with communicating my needs (I did tell them about the change in work schedule) but they also could have given me more notice about appointments. My biggest issue was with the tech who didn't understand that leaving rat traps out in the open was absolutely not acceptable to me. My dog's safety is paramount. He didn't get that. I've had to shoo her away from traps I found behind a garbage can or just next to a cabinet and get them moved. I told Jesse that I find this highly unacceptable and, had she gotten into rat bait with a poison in it, I would be beyond irate. His response: I was focusing on something that didn't happen as an excuse not to pay my bill. I am still in shock over his reply. I've never experienced such uncaring, callous service before. My dog's safety should be his concern, too, not just as a service provider but as a decent human being. Jesse said they've caught 12 rats and believes that they've met their standard of service to justify being paid $650. I absolutely disagree. He didn't even try to work it out with me. He just wished me well with collections and a hit to my credit. Again, I'm floored by the response. I still have a rat problem. They're still destroying my house. They're still scratching and burrowing holes in all corners of my home. If there truly was a guarantee... I didn't get to take advantage of it. I got a consultation on exclusion services which would have cost an additional $2,600. The price would vary because there was an entry point behind a large deck in my backyard. The tech offered to send me the estimate in the mail along with information about payment arrangements. I never received this estimate. I did, however, receive a letter asking for payment (the $650 was technically due up front) stating that the steps taken to keep pests out of my home would be undone if I didn't keep up with services. I didn't get any exclusion services. I didn't have a protective barrier. I still don't have a protective barrier. I do have a new provider just by happenstance. He does work for my work and we got to talking about my situation. His prices are an astounding fraction of Bug Zapper's prices and he's never spoken to me like I'm a deadbeat, bill-ignoring, high-maintenance pain in the neck. I highly caution anyone wishing to do business with Bug Zapper to get services and results guarantees in writing, never agree to payment up front, and don't upset Jesse. He will tear into you like you're the spawn of evil for crossing him. read more

Very pleasant and courteous; Kevin made visit this time but usually Zack is the guy that comes. The only recommendation would be to set up a more helpful schedule for when visits are made: ie the 2nd Tuesday of every even or odd month etc. and a timeline; sometimes I have questions or recommendations and I would like to be home when visits are made. read more
