This was the lowest priced gas station in this area. And much lower than other ones that are closer to Kettleman city. The price per gallon is also cheaper for CASH customers. The gas station has several pumps with gas and diesel, they also have an Indian restaurant on site. The bathroom was clean. They also have garbage bins and water for cleaning the windshield. read more

Do not give them your credit card. Only place U used it and it was charged 2x at restaurants that i never heen to same day. Over 500.00 between the 2 charges. I tapped the card for payment. Stopped by on Sunday, 12/25/22 (Christmas Day). Driving up from SoCal to NorthCal and needed gas. This gas station is super huge - gas is not as expensive as other gas stations when driving the 5 North and the mini market is pretty spacious. Snacks are a bit expensive here. read more

I have never written a review for a gas station, but this place really earned this one. I'll start with the positives: It does in fact sell gas, and that gas is not terribly expensive. It does in fact have a bathroom. As for the well-deserved criticism: When I walked in, I was surprised to see the unmasked cashier casually talking to other unmasked individuals -- possibly family members -- behind the counter. I can understand occasionally keeping your mask down if you're working in a quiet store, but 1) the cashier did not have a mask at all and 2) this gas station is just off the 5, so there are customers coming in and out all day. Like it or not, there is a mask mandate in place. Customers shouldn't have to deal with this. Additionally, the men's room was not clean by any standards. There was a sign above the urinal about really holding the handle down to flush. I tried doing this, but it was clearly broken. God forbid the management actually repair it. There are several gas stations at the same freeway exit, so I have no reason to return to this one. I'd advise others to steer clear of it as well. read more

Their gas prices are low, but stay away from the small store. Four people in there (at least) with not a single mask, including employees. In surprise, I looked at the clerk and asked, "no masks?" She reached around to offer me a mask when I was already wearing one. What the heck? Clueless!!! read more

After spending $75 on a tank of gas I find out this dump does not even have a public bathroom. The clerk says they're out of service. Drive right past this dump and go to one of the main stream gas stations on the other side of the freeway. Same price, maybe even a little cheaper, and you're in for a decent mini Mart experience. This small mart is one of those shops you're glad you stopped at. Clean bathroom, variety of candy, most of their aisles are full of products. My boyfriend even got me a sorpresa (surprise) from the treasures they had! If you're ever on HWY 5 and looking for fast service, cheap gas, clean bathrooms and snack choices, stop here! There's a lot of gas stations on this exit. But this gas station never has a line. It has clean restrooms good price for gas. So you pump gas fast and even on your way faster. I really like that. Employees are nice if you buy snacks for the road. read more

If there's a quirkier, cooler gas station mini-mart on Interstate 5, or in the world, I'd like to know where. Until then, the title goes to Buford Star Mart at Hwy 46. Low gas prices--it's got 'em. A departure from the rat race of gas- and fast-food-warring businesses across the freeway--it's that in spades. It's the only business on the east side of the freeway. Better yet is the collection of knives for sale in a large, illuminated display case, carefully watched by a collection of plush Angry Birds on the top shelf. Also up for sale are other toys, cigars and a variety of provocative, unique and sports-theme butane lighters. The amazing part is that a store about a tenth of the size of mega-marketer Love's Travel Stop on the hectic side of the road has seemingly identified all of the outrageous, some might even say red-neck, items Love's evidently dares not carry. Road warriors not hungry for burgers, tacos, or a coffee-shop meal, and who just need gas, snacks, and maybe a pit stop, might find this place fulfilling for their vehicles' tanks, and some edgy, running-with-the-devil gift shopping. read more

You really can't get better than cheap gas on the 5 in the middle of nowhere. But wait, yes you can because the snack and cigar choices here are amazing. Plus, if you want the coldest and best dang bottle of cranberry juice you've ever had, this place has it. Don't forget the landscaping--the gardeners deserve applause. read more

This place advertises clean restrooms, that's why I stopped here. There are no toilet seat protectors, and the restroom was not clean. The cashier was not wearing a mask, and I saw him pick his teeth with his finger and not wash his hands afterward. Just put his hand back on the register. Disgusting. read more

This gas station is a con. I pulled my tractor into his dirt lot in the back and i was stuck until the tow truck came and pulled me out. The tow truck guy then told me that the dirt is put there on purpose because the gas station owner owns the dirt lot and put the dirt purposely to trap trucks and uses his big tractor to pull semis and cars out the dirt during the day. If there is any holes in the dirt from previous people getting stuck he fills in the dirt. This is so bad karma coming his way. read more

Traveling in separate cars with my 17 year daughter, her low oil light came on. We pulled over at this station. The guy was very helpful, honest and attentive. He checked her oil level and was told he didn't have the oil her car needed but rather charge her for a more expensive oil he told her that when we got to where we were going, get you oil changed. We stopped here with my kids to use the restroom (one toilet was out of order, but not why I'm leaving 1 star). On our way out we heard some chickens. My kids were horrified to see two chickens panting heavily in wooden crates on a trash can. There was another wooden crate empty with blood all over the inside. The whole area smelled like death. It was 100 degrees and these two girls had no food or water. I imagine they are going to be eaten, which is totally fine. But you can't torture animals in the 100 degree heat just because they're going to be food. Some people have no respect for life which is just disgusting. We did what we could and left them some water. read more

Skip this place. Definitely not clean restrooms. Fuel prices aren't advertised well. They advertise cash price a little too easily. Don't get misled. Credit card is $0.10-$0.30 more expensive per gallon. The only thing great is convenience for I-5 northbound travelers. read more

I found a super nice cowboy hat on the main road outside the gas station. I was in a hurry and could not go into the store to turn it in to the lost & found, so I tried calling them from the road and their number was disconnected. Any number I found online was bad. Finally, I called 411 and they connected me, but I got a generic voicemail recording (the default kind that normally comes with answering machines) so I left a message. Finally, someone called back and took down my info. She was very nice, but the phone situation needs serious attention for situations like this. The hat looks very expensive. If you ever find yourself driving on Highway 5 somewhere between Fresno and Bakersfield and come to the Lost Hills exit, do not...I repeat DO NOT go to the Buford Star Mart. Whether you need gas, a snack or a rest stop, this place is down right awful! It is dirty in all senses of the word. The place is filthy, the attendant is creepy and the pumps are rigged. That's right, rigged! For the first time ever, with just one swipe of my credit card, my account was hacked in to. They attempted to steal $500 from me. read more

DON'T USE YOUR DEBIT CARD HERE! I bought gas yesterday and I got a strange call a few hours later asking for my account number. When I called the bank they told me a charge of $101 was attempted and denied because of incorrect pin attempt. Now I have to contact all of the credit bureaus, cancel my debit card and make a police report. The process is called skimming and they are obviously doing this at this gas station. read more

I don't take reviews seriously, because I know they are bias. But this is a very neutral review, based on honesty, experience and observation. Lost hills can be a very crowded stop, especially during the holiday season. So one might believe the billboard off of the high way, as I did, that reads "cheap gas $3.49 and clean bathrooms," pointing in the opposite direction of traffic. My first hint should have been when I couldn't swipe my card because it stuck into the machine. But I went forth, drove around and chose another gas pump. My next hint could have been when the lady leaving yelled to the cashier "go back to India" and she politely responded "go back to hell." But I carries on, however this machine wouldn't take my card either. So I asked the apathetic clerk why my card wouldn't work. Apparently I was supposed to know that when using credit you have to come inside. The gas dribbled out of the pump as I was getting ready to fill up, but I didn't care. I was getting gas and getting the hell out. The machine then asked me if i want my receipt, and gave me the options "no" and "cancel," apparently you have to go in for this too. Before I left, I wanted to see just how great these bathrooms where. Two small stalls, no toilet paper, smelling of the last crotch to occupy the stall, still disappointed. But not as disappointed as when I reviewed the receipt, stating $3.59/gallon. I have been cheated. To everyone commuting between this north to south ca portal, do not give into this billboard, the rest of the stations are $20 cents cheaper!! read more
