We tried this place while traveling for work. It is a local establishment with live music and wood floors that had a few holes in it so you could see the bottom. We had the smash burger and the impossible burger which were really good. Glad we had the opportunity to visit. read more

Update: Buffingtons has had a change of ownership and a bit of decor change. Andrew seated us quickly and was very attentive throughout our meal. The menu is a skeleton of what it once was with a handful of our favorites now gone. (shrimp tempura appetizer, cheese curds, onion rings and the Philly is gone) -1. Burgers remained and I ordered the double smashed patty black and blue. I use to get their blue cheese burger before and it was good but I'll hand it to the chef. This burger was superior to what I received here in the past! They have changed the fries as well which is a blessing. We ordered one side of fries, because of past experiences, but these were very good. My wife got the patty melt and said it was very good as well although she misses the Philly. Overall a good experience and we will return. Hoping they consider bringing some things back if enough customers request. read more

We went to Buffington's at about 7:30 on a Friday night. We arrived and the live music was already going. It was a little loud, but not unbearable. Richard Martin was playing on stage and singing some Weezer, Oasis, Johnny Cash, Sublime, etc. We order a couple drinks, an appetizer and an entree to split. First off, the drinks were delicious and pretty. Good job! We went with the 3 appetizer sampler. I think it's called the Pecking Plate. We decided on the hummus with cucumber and naan, the onion rings and a Bavarian pretzel with cheese dip. 1. Hummus - Delicious!!!! Everything about it was excellent. 2. Onion Rings - they looked amazing, but they were VERY bland. 3. Bavarian Pretzel w/cheese - the pretzel had a hard top half and a soft bottom half, I'm not sure if it was how they heated it up, but it was weird. But, the cheese dip was excellent. In fact, we ended up dipping the onion rings into the cheese dip. For the main course we heard the burgers were very good so we went for a Shroom & Swiss Burger with a side of Chili Queso Fries. I was very hopeful for some outstanding fries!!! So, the burger was absolutely delicious. It was well seasoned, VERY juicy, toasted bun, good cheese and shrooms! The fries kinda missed the mark a bit. They were pretty old tasting fries, I think if they were fresher my final opinion would have been different. But the chili had good flavor. And it looks like the person dumping the cheese forgot his glasses. lol! Overall, I'll give the entire experience a 3 star. They had some high points and some low points. read more

The new menu is sad. We Definitely miss the variety and quality of dinners which were previously available including salmon, fish, grilled chicken breasts. Plus the old appetizers including hummus were really good. Now there are no decent quality meal options. Take a hint from your neighbor Green's and offer some healthy while delicious items in addition to the drab, very basic, bar food now on the menu. Definitely a let down. Buffington's used to be the place to be in town. Incredible menu, incredible food, and incredible atmosphere. Buffington's recently sold and they completely changed everything that made Buffington's so incredible. The menu used to be encompassing and all around incredible. The new menu is unbearable. No wings, no classic buff's appetizers, and no depth to their menu whatsoever. We used to travel back to milledgeville with the sole intention of coming back to Buffington's. I would not eat here since they are under new management. On top of the awful new menu and weak atmosphere, the icing on the cake was the horrendous service from the bartender. While sitting at the bar, we had to beg for him to serve us, as he seemed preoccupied with his friends at the other end of the bar. read more

For my first night in Milledville I went to this bar with some colleagues. The bar is located in the center of the city, you can many bars in this street and you park easily next to it. I had a very good evening, bands can have access to the stage and perform live. We came across a young band that night that was really good! We stayed until closing time at 2am. For #YelpsBigNightIn ( @yelp ; @yelpaugusta ), I had not planned on having Southern and Tex-Mex. But, I been wanting to try Buffington's for a while. Also, being outside of the area for my Yelp community, I wasn't sure if it would work. Additionally, didn't want to go out 2 days in a row, so I used KNG Delivery. In reviewing the online menu, I saw that being a Bar & Grill, I didn't really want a burger. So, I ordered 3 Appetizers. Diggity Dank (typo on the Menu? Should it be Dang?) Nachos (full order; about $2.00 more than a haf order), with White Queso and Pico de Gallo: Now, because of previous soggy delivery of Nachos, I asked for the chips to be separated. Well, not only did they separate the chips (yea!), they separated all the ingredients. 8-) This was my first time in trying this kind of Nachos. And, I must admit, I found it pretty darn tasty, without being overly spiced. And, the chips, while a tad thicker than I'd prefer, were fresh, and crunchy. The thicker chip held up better in this dish. 5 Stars Fried Mushrooms with Ranch Dressing: I love Mushrooms (on pizza, in pasta sauce, Chinese food, on a salad and plain for dipping). But, these Fried Mushrooms were delicious. Though, I did find the Ranch Dressing to be a tad too thin. But, it was still very good. 4 Stars. Fried Pickles with Chipotle Ranch Dressing: Now, this is only my 2nd time having Fried Pickles. So, I don't really have much to compare it to. But, whereas my first time in having them, The coating was crispy. And, it covered every pickle chip to where it was difficult to tell what it was. On these, the coating was super thin. And, to be honest, they weren't drained very well (there was some pickle juice in the bottom of the box) before dipping into the batter. Nor, where they crisp. To be honest, they were very limp. Also, like the regular Ranch Dressing, the Chipotle Ranch Dressing was also on the thin side. I did find the pickles to be too vinegary. But, they were good. 2 Stars Also, there's plenty leftover. I should get at least 2 more dinners out of it. 8-) But, over all, I did like everything. And, I will want to try them again. read more

We went there last night to end my birthday weekend celebration and ordered drinks. They have my new favorite cider flavor by the Atlanta Co in the can (Tiki Haze) so a perfect start .. We ordered the appetizer sampler and everything was amazing and fresh and made in-house. The chicken fingers were chicken breast split. the shrimp tempura was fresh made in-house and the mushrooms were freshly made. Everything was amazing. To top it off the bartender, ANNIE was FABULOUS and the blueberry lemon raspberry layered cheesecake is to die for! With a live music, it was a perfect evening for my birthday in town at Buffington's. We will be back.! read more

Another slam dunk in Milledgville. The best part about this place was how welcoming it was. As soon as I got into the restaurant I was welcomed by the bartender, Callie, and several of the locals who have been coming here for years. both Callie and the locals were awesome - heckling on who the cook was and what I should eat. Amazing southern hospitality and spirit. I had the Backyard Burger and fried pickles on the side. Let me tell you, the burger was amazing but the fried pickles were the best I've ever had. I asked the bartender if they were still crispy, and she said, "Trust me. You're getting the pickles. They're awesome." And they were! Probably the best place I've found in a while. Great food and even better, great people. I immediately felt welcomed. The space could use some renovation, ceiling tiles, floors etc. That's probably the only negative I could say. The value for quality for me was a bit low as it seemed like normal bar fare they just tried to dress up. They get knocked to three stars for their COVID protocols. Even after my all around poor experience my last time at Buffington's, Milledgeville's famous burger week lured me back to this progressive atmosphere, regressive food establishment once again. Unfortunately, my experience did not blow me away yet again. Obviously I ordered the specialty burger week burger, and upgraded my side to sweet potato fries. Upon asking my server what this burger would consist of, she replied "well, it's a burger first off..." then continued with a shaky description of the entre. She warned us our food might be a little long, as the kitchen was "getting a lot of food orders," despite the restaurant containing 40 (I counted) patrons and many empty tables. Fast forward 41 minutes (wow! How quick!), and our burgers were coming to our table, along with the coke I ordered with the food. First look, burger looked ok, big and burly, lots of additional toppings, something I really prefer. The sweet potato fries, however, which cost an additional $4 on top of the price of the burger, had so much (SO MUCH) salt that they were literally inedible, and the sauce which accompanied them had the consistency of a bag of quickcrete that hadn't been mixed well. After scraping the salt off a couple fries and getting grease all over my hands, I decided I was ready for my burger. Upon a brief dissection of the burger, I noticed that I must have forgotten how I wanted my burger and ordered it "burnt as fuck" on accident, however those in my party quickly reminded me I had asked for medium well. After a couple bites, I realized this burger might make up for the shortcomings of the rest of my Buff's experience. The fried green tomato was crispy and flavorful, and while it's taste left something to be desired, the creaminess of the pimento cheese was a welcome addition to the texture of the sandwich. A couple bites later, however, I encountered a problem as my entire sandwich began disintegrating in my hands as I ate. I had to re-insert my toppings (including the half slice of tomato I received) multiple times, but aside from the excess char, the eating experience of this burger was quite good. Overall, the burger was a flat 8 out of 10, but my overall dining experience was a 5.2, largely due to the mediocre service and the sweet potato fry fiasco. I had such high hopes for a Buff's redemption, but I was yet again met with massive disappointment. See pictures for reasoning behind my review. read more

Buffington's is everything you want in a classic tavern with a small performance space. We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday. Service was excellent, beer was ice cold. I ordered their double bacon cheeseburger, and this was everything I wanted and more. It had been what felt like an eternity since I have had a good pub style burger. This checked every box. Buffingtons was my college bar of choice (I even worked here for a stint). While some may seen it as a greasy pub (true) many also see it as a welcoming small town bar that gets a lot of things right. Their menu has a lot of options- they were vegetarian way before many others. It ranges from your classic pub food like burgers to salmon salads. Their drinks were cheap during happy hour and affordable all the time. Their beer selection is way upgraded these days. The people are fun and friendly. The service is good and the workers open minded and welcoming. It's a place for all. Sure it may not be the cleanest, but they work hard and the atmosphere is fun with friends. read more

When someone orders and waits 30+ minutes for a to go order, at some point you let them know part of their order isn't available, not when their other food is ready! Ridiculous! What are we supposed to do now? Order more food that will take another 30 minutes while our food already made gets cold? Now 1 person has nothing to eat! Buffington's was my bar of choice while I was attending school in Milledgeville. I love the huge windows that they open during the warmer months. It's perfect for grabbing a beer with a few friends between classes. The scene gets pretty rowdy after 9:30 or so, but that's part of the fun! They often have live performers and also host college drag shows and other events throughout the year. They have an awesome beer selection. The bartenders are very friendly and love to get to know people. Their liquor drinks are all right, but I would suggest sticking to beer if you want the most bang for your buck. Their food is decent, though sometimes a little inconsistent. You can't go wrong with a Buff burger. read more

This is a tough one. But sometimes you just have to go with your gut. I say this because my wife and I searched for somewhere in this town of Milledgeville where we could get a great burger. When you do a search, the results are so off balance in terms of corporate​ fast food joints, versus privately owned. And it's understandable to a degree. Who wants to open a business with so many possible headaches. But when you want a fresh burger that is cooked to order, you want a local venue, period. We thought we found one. We arrived around 1:30 and not a lot of customers, primarily​ because​ I suppose due to student vacation at the local college. My wife and I sat at the bar and ordered burgers. A bacon and cheeseburger​ for me and a cheeseburger for the Mrs. You could order it in two sizes but what struck me as funny was you could only order your burger medium ​or medium well depending on size? Frankly, I usually order my burger medium rare, that wouldn't be an option for me today. So medium it will be. Both of our burgers were good. It would have been nice to have the way I normally order it, the way I normally cook it. Friendliness and cleanliness. If your sitting waiting for your burger, you look around. You notice things. The atmosphere​, photos on the wall, and dirt. There was a saying where I worked, "If you're leaning, you could be cleaning." The bar top to my left still had serious​ crumb action for a few feet of the bar from previous patrons. But maybe the bartender could not see it from where she or he was, who knows? But my wandering eyes spied the thermostat located on the wall. It looked pretty disgusting. The place needed a good cleaning from bow to stern. Allow me to start my rant by saying this: to our server, if you read this, God bless you. You were great. I was so incredibly disappointed by this place. The food was great, I mean really really great, but let me tell you something, when you have two servers jumping between 15 tables and the manager/owner/loiterer sitting at the bar eating and drinking and making jokes with the bartender and not doing a thing- that manager/owner/loiterer deserves a ripe ass whooping with a metal spoon. Our server had no help. None whatsoever. My girlfriend and I were having lunch with another couple and the poor waitress had no help and every time she came to the table she apologized. I finally told her to tell the manager to get off his ass and help them out. Anyways, as for the food, it was great. Good burger and good fried pickles. You may read this and think "man, this guy is a prick." Well, I am when I comes to service. As a manager, it is your job to make Sure everyone is cared for properly. Went back to the Buff for the first time in a couple years. They have changed the menu and...gulp...removed my bacon burger dog!!! I could have cried. They aren't serving hot dogs AT ALL, not even for kids any longer or they would have made me one. Not one to be disappointed, I got creative. They do corn dog bites for kids' meals so I asked for a bacon cheeseburger with mini corn dogs! They said it would cost a little extra and I said that was ok. Let me tell you, corn dogs on a burger are GREAT! I thoroughly enjoyed the experience ...but...even though they only put two of the little guys on there they charged me $2.00 extra!! That's a buck a corn dog bite!! Seriously? You can get a whle kids' meal with fries and a drink for like $3.95. I thought it was a bit exhorbitant but what could I do at that point? Between that, and the fact they no longer have the original bacon burger dog and the fact it took over an hour to get our simple burgers and fries kind of meal, I had to drop my rating to a three on this updated experience. read more
