Dating back to 1916 and renovated in 1996, this has to be one of the prettiest train station restaurants in Switzerland. The inside style is early 20th century and mounted on the walls are several beautiful hand painted murals of different Swiss cities. Each of the painted panels represent destinations served when the restaurant first opened over 110 years ago: Neuchâtel, Montreux, Fribourg, Geneva and also the Matterhorn for Zermatt and Valais.
It's a full service restaurant, and you can have a complete meal here or just coffee and a croissant. Ideal if you have a stop over in Lausanne. There's also an outside terrace with fairy lights when the weather is warm. It's definitely worth it just to walk inside and take a quick look up at the painted scenic murals. read more
