Fondue with bread, the potatoes are kept warm in the red and white plaid bag.

I wanted to give a review because all the others seemed to be from years ago. Yes, it's still open. Wait staff is very friendly, speaking perfect English. Ambiance was very nice, old world small restaurant style. Food was excellent. We had the cheese fondue. It is enough for two and comes with potatoes and bread. My son had the roast beef special and it was very good as well. I had the salad with bacon, egg and tomatoes in an Italian dressing. It was huge portions and delicious!! I also had two glasses of a delicious white wine and our bill was around $100 Swiss Francs. It was worth it.

    Not bad for Switzerland

After doing a lot of research, and the hotel concierge also suggesting this place, hubby and I headed there for lunch as we took a break from walking around the hills of Lausanne. The concierge made a reservation for us, but we could have walked in easily for lunch. I immediately felt comforted when we walked in. The waiter spoke English and everyone was SO FRIENDLY. So I didn't feel intimidated at all. The chef/owner is also out and about chatting with everyone... even us obvious Americans! We ordered drinks and relaxed a bit, and enjoyed people watching all the locals. We split the dandelion salad... Had to try it! I enjoyed it more than hubby did. The greens are a little bitter, but the egg and lardons create a nice balance. I ordered fondue and hubby had the raclette sandwich. Both were amazingly rich and delicious. The decor and location are great as well. It was a perfect first meal in a wonderful Swiss city!

Attentive service, good authentic food and good wine selection. Energetic but not loud.

What better way to do this than in a café across from the reflection of the Alps on beautiful Lake Geneva? (My review comes a year late. I didn't realize this had been sitting in my drafts for a while. But, here I am, finally completing it.) We started with a planchette valaisanne and some local wine. Then, we shared a fondue moitié-moitié that was divine. We spent hours enjoying our food and our conversation, nothing like we've ever done living back in the US. I'm so happy I got to experience this in Lausanne. Thank you for this, Le Vieil Ouchy!

The restaurant is by the wharf with gorgeous views of the mountains. No one was dining inside but it was so windy outside several times that glasses blew off tables and shattered. Kind of scary. There were a few language problems with our server Pablo, but he did a good job. We ordered green and mixed salads for appetizers. They were great. Then we ordered cheese fondue with bread and potatoes. I liked the potatoes much better. It was getting cool after dark so we didn't stay for dessert. They had pie and ice cream on the menu. I didn't see chocolate. Oh, well.

The hotel is a luxury five star hotel property. The owners of the Hotel D'Ouchy also own the Lausanne Palace, which is why all Hotel D'Ouchy gets get free access to the Lausanne Palace spa facilities. The facilities are numerous and you easily spend the day there, without ever even getting a service. Their is a sun room, outside terrace, fitness area, indoor pool, hot tub, sleeping room, hammam, dry sauna, juice bar and cafe, and treatment rooms. You are provided with a robe and slippers if needed upon entering. The changing rooms are small and there is very limited locker space. They have Aveda shampoo and shower gel so you don't need to bring that with you. They also have cheap flimsy combs in case you forget, but I recommend you bring your own as they are VERY difficult to use. They also have complimentary tooth brush w/ mini toothpaste to utilize. Also, there is only one bathroom in the changing area and two showers. The fitness area is stocked with the newest high end equipment. My only complaint is that it is VERY hot in the room and there are no fans. The pool is also VERY warm, it didn't seem like there was any difference in temperature between the pool and hot tub. I couldn't do very many laps without over heating. The dry sauna was INCREDIBLY hot. The atmosphere is relaxing, the decor is modern with Turkish touches, and everything is very clean. Their is free Aveda hot tea available to drink, and water bottles available in the fitness room. My favorite spot had to be the sleeping room, dark room with beds laid out with big cushy duvets. It was a fantastic place to catch a nap. My only complaint is that the temperature could be turned down a couple of notches. To note, their are separate hammam and dry sauna for men and women.
