We had lunch, and the food was very good and reasonably priced. The Hüttenrösti was good and filling, though a tad salty for my taste (as Swiss food often is). My friend enjoyed the bratwurst. They also have a selection of desserts, and the crepe with ice cream was excellent. The ambiance was really great. We sat on the deck, with a gorgeous view of the mountains and valley below. Service was friendly and efficient. If I'm ever hiking in the area, I'll definitely visit again.

I had breakfast here twice. The first time I had:…read more Spinach Quiche - Excellent. I really love the flaky crust. The server warmed it for me and it was just great. Lots of buttery goodness. Cheese Quiche - Straightforward cheese and egg. Flaky crust. Got it warmed. Personal sized. Really good. Apple Strudel - Amazingly stuffed pastry with lots and lots of apple Among the best I've had ever. Coffee Americano "large" - The large is not what we would call a large in the US. It was good, but I think it would be better to get an espresso. the second time I got my breakfast: Bacon, egg, cheese quiche. Same buttery and flaky crust as before. I liked this even more than the spinach, which I really liked. It was big enough for my wife and I to share. Apricot tart - lots of fruit, cream on a flaky crust. Superb, but you need to eat it right away because the filling gets things soggy if you wait. Double Espresso - I think it was very good, but I swallowed it so fast it's hard to say. You know, morning. Service is prompt but in my case not what I'd call super friendly. Good enough, though. The big deal was being able to get an excellent breakfast for two for about 20 Swiss Franc vs. double that in the hotel or a regular restaurant. The shop has the option to dine in on the second floor and it also serves a variety of other pastries, breads and sandwiches. I've uploaded a lot of photos for you to check out.

Yelp Review 2026 #148:…read more I was excited to grab some chocolates from Fuchs especially the ones in the shape of Matterhorn so I can give them away to friends. I walked in and there was a line. I peeped the display case if there's anything else I can grab aside from chocolates. I was t really feeling the pastries and cookies so, I grabbed my chocolates and went back to my place in line. I got to the front of the line and the employee acted like she can't see me and skipped to the person behind me. So, I said "I'm just paying for the chocolates." Her response was very rude accusing me of cutting in line which I didn't do at all. So, I just loudly said "Fuch this place and left the chocolates on the counter and left. I was only getting chocolates from here for their novelty. Switzerland is never short of good chocolates.

It's located in the lower floor of the Mirabeau Hotel. The dining room was beautiful with large walls of glass looking out onto a courtyard. Staff members were working hard in the garden to make it look perfect. We were seated right away. We were asked several times what our room number was so I'm guessing that much of their clientele were guests. Indeed, it was clearly a place for retired, well-to-do European travelers. Everyone was dressed a little nicer than most restaurants we'd been to and, if I were a retired, well-to-do European traveler, I might have been staying at this hotel and dining here as well. From looking at the website and visiting the hotel, it looks very nice. No complaints. It was a nice feeling place. The service was very good and we were well-attended to by our primary server as well as the manager. They were very nice to us and our kids while there. The food. We had some tasty olive rolls with butter waiting for us when we arrived at our table. My wife and I both got the 2 course prix fixe meal for about 50CHF each. I thought it was a pretty good price for Zermatt but came to find out that the servings were on the small side. Don't get me wrong. We didn't leave there hungry but I now know why the prices seemed reasonable. For apps, wife got a tuna tare tare which was served in a gel form in the shape of a pyramid (or, maybe the matterhorn? I should have studied it more closely). It was a little weird and my wife thought it had just OK flavor. I got the salad bar and it was fresh and there was a nice selection of items but, for you North American's, it was a little Ruby Tuesday-ish. For mains, kids got kids meals...a schnitzel and some chicken. They really liked them. I got the steak. It was basically three pre-cut slices of steak with some carrots and potatoes. Cooked nicely and fine for the flavor but, again, not the best or worst I'd had even on this trip. When I started this review a few days after visiting Zermatta, neither my wife nor I could remember what she had for a main course. This happens occasionally to me and just figure that it's old age setting in. But, it doesn't happen too often to my wife. I usually make an effort to go to the website and review the menu in such cases to figure out what we ordered. But, I got to thinking that it was really indicative of the entire dining experience at Zermatta....a little forgettable. So, I'm gonna leave it at that. We still don't know what my wife had for dinner but it was a pretty spot with some pretty food but only pretty good flavor. Too many options in Zermatt to put this in a top 20 list.
