Late review. In the Spring I decided to treat my grandmother and mom to manicures, and I got a pedicure. Salon/Atmosphere: (5/5) great selection of polish, sleek and clean space. Service: (5/5) all the girls were wonderful, friendly, and attentive. They listened to our sensitivities and requests. One of the girls actually spoke my grandmother's native language! She was thrilled to have her as a technician and it made her more comfortable. Product: (2/5) unfortunately, our pedicures and manicures didn't last very long. My mom's mani cracked within TWO HOURS of our service (we called and they were wonderful about fixing it ASAP). And my pedicure and my grandmother's mani chipped a few days after. All in all, it's a fabulous place to hang out (hello, they have a bar too!) and pop in if you're around. But unfortunately I'm not going to go out of my way to come here. read more

I've been going to Buffed Nail Bar for quite some time! I totally switched over from the other more dodgy nail salons and I can't look back ever. This little shop in Westdale is such a treat! I recently had my wedding party get their nails and toes done here and everyone had an amazing experience. I usually book with either "Jess" (Jess Lush or Jessica D) and both are very experienced and awesome to talk to. They know how to do everything under the sun, and they are willing to try things that you might see online. They are both my go-to gals for sure. The decor of Buffed is fabulous, very modern and clean. All the equipment is also super clean and sterile. The colour selection is great, always keeping up with the new styles and colours of the seasons! Another cool feature is they have a bar! You can get beer, wine, mixed drinks and special coffees...or stick to non-alcoholic drinks too. Great for groups and always super accommodating with questions or appointment changes. I honestly can't say enough positive things about this salon, and the owner Trish is also a sweetheart. I love how the ladies really get to know you and are happy to chat about anything and everything (if that's your jam!) I'll certainly keep returning! read more

All the girls in my family (a total of 8 of us) wanted to celebrate my grandmother's arrival back in Canada with a mini spa day and Buffed Nail Bar went above and beyond to help us celebrate it. When we initially walked in, we were required to fill out a form that asked basic questions (eg. age, name, e-mail address) as well as skin particulars such as any existing allergies or skin conditions. This information was used by the nail technicians so that they were careful around any skin conditions we had. We spent a total of five hours here. The salon was very clean and had no smell of nail varnish or toxins - which is something I really enjoyed. This is a huge plus since while we were getting our nails done we wanted to celebrate with food and wine and the smell of nail varnish would've probably ruined my appetite. They allowed us to bring our own food and wine and the receptionist working at the front desk was super accommodating. She handed out tea and coffee (they have their own Keurig!) and made sure we all felt comfortable; ensuring that we all were eating and drinking. It felt like I was at home! The nail technicians (a total of three) were friendly and easy-going - something I rarely find when I get my nails done. I got a "Make It A Double", which is a Classic Manicure and Classic Pedicure. Buffed Nail Bar has an exclusive line of Smith and Cult, which is a non-toxic nail varnish line. I decided to try this line out as the bottles were too cute to avoid! The owner, Trish, also came by at times to say hi and ensured that we were continuously taken care of. I went to buffed nail bar for the first time a few weeks ago and I was blown away with the ambience and set up of this beautiful nail bar. Unfortunately, I am rather disappointed with the service i was provided with in preparation of my vacation. Firstly I booked an upgraded 60 minute pedicure, and received a 30 minute treatment. Thankfully, and very much appreciated, I was discounted $15 for not receiving the full treatment that I booked and was excited for. Secondly, I was left waiting for over an hour without being checked in or lead to my next treatment (shellac manicure) until I asked the woman at the desk if I had been forgotten. Lastly, having the pedicure for less than 24 hours, my two big toes nails completely chipped off followed by more chipped nails the following morning simply walking around the house. I tried emailing buffed nail bar twice , and they failed to respond back to either of my emails. I am quite disappointed of the customer service I've received for what is supposed to be a high end nail bar. I definitely would not recommend this place. read more

I scheduled an appointment to fix a nail and change the color of my nails. I actually came in advance and they told me they would not have time to take care of what i asked for (I didn't ask for anything extra... just what i booked for). They made me feel really uncomfortable; they kept asking themselves if they would have enough time to take care of what i asked them to do... but then it should not be a problem if I already booked everything..no?! I told them I was okay to get the nail fixed and change colour on only two fingers (so it looks even). They couldnt find a simple sparkly color. so I decided to go home. When i got home, I got their email saying : I was a no show at the appointment. When i actually came in advance... At this point I'm hoping they wont apply the cancellation fee.. Disappointed and Embarrassed. Went to buffed this morning after booking a manicure appointment with my cousin two weeks earlier for some quality girl time. Upon entering I was prompted to complete a form, with a question about any blemishes on your skin. I indicated I have a wart on one of my fingers, not thinking this would be an issue as I always inform my manicurist of the area can be avoided. Well as a result (and after already choosing a colour) I was denied service with the explanation that because it's 'highly contagious' they will not do the manicure - "we don't want our customers telling people they got it from here". I explained how this is something I have had since a child and have it treated regularly to no avail. No solutions offered (avoiding the area, putting a bandaid on it, using different tools etc...) except to have a more expensive service that I didn't need/want. I had even checked their website prior and there was no mention of this rule. Also, having this conversation right in the front of the store made it so everyone could hear what was being discussed which I didn't appreciate. The staff made me feel like I was diseased and not good enough for their "premium" services. As I sat there, watching my cousins have her nails done, none of the staff would even make eye contact with me or acknowledge I was there. A morning that was supposed to be fun turned into a very frustrating situation. I guess I'll never be able to be a customer because I'm always going to have this. read more

I made this appointment online in advance and was never told I may be turned away for service. I am 7 months pregnant, drove a ways to get to west dale, arranged care for my toddler and was declined service from someone who is not a medical professional deeming a pin size blemish on the undersize of my foot as a wart. I will never return. I was hoping this place would be my new regular place as it looks very pretty inside and they carry a good brand of nail polish. Instead I was made to feel diseased. All my excitement and planning was for nothing. I will never spend a penny in this place and I will never recommend it. Thanks for wasting my time. I had a great time with Judith. She did great work in my nails. But, I had called to make my appointment and was quoted a price for all of the services I would need. When I got there, I actually needed less service than I thought yet somehow I was charged double what I was quoted on the phone (not by Judith). I should have questioned it at the time but there were a bunch of people in line so I just paid and left. I would have liked to gone back but it was way more expensive then I was originally told. read more

I went for a shellac removal and the service was so subpar compared to their prices and the kind of establishment they claim to be. The manager seemed to not care at all about her own attitude towards customers - she did not greet me when I came in, and later on when it came time for me to leave, her and two other workers that were free just stood at the back, talking. It took me waving around my credit card for her to look at me and come (not even right away, but after taking her time to finish the conversation with a coworker). She didn't apologize for making me wait, and after I paid, she did not even have the courtesy of saying thank you, see you next time, have a good day, etc. As the manager, you would think that she cares about making her customers' experiences enjoyable and pleasant. She made me feel unwelcomed and unappreciated as a customer. Never going back there again. read more

I'm a bit disappointed in the polish job I received today. I paid $74 plus $10 tip for a mani and pedi and the polish she did was mediocre. I've spent $25 less and gotten and much better job. She only painted the middle of my nails on my hands and feet only for me to come home and repaint them. She wasn't very friendly and didn't even say thank you. She was on to the next person before I even paid. In hindsight I shouldn't of left her a tip and should have said something but didn't want to cause a scene. You pay for the free coffe and ambiance but not the quality of the work. I won't be going back. read more

Firstly, the aesthetics here are wonderful, but the service was poor. For $50 I've had way better manicures for $30. It was my first time here and was excited about the nail art and since I called no one told me I had to book this additional service, so I was told I couldn't get this done when I arrived. The girls were friendly, but it felt rushed. And my shellac always lasts two weeks, but it started chipping after only a few days. I left with some nail polish on my skin that I didn't notice until I got home. I wanted to love it, but i'll be sticking to my $30 manicures in the future. read more
