I had an interview on Tuesday with the Kitchen Manager who was super nice. I had worked with someone we mutually knew so we had a good conversation and it seemed like she was interested in hiring me. She told me they would get back to me by the end of the week so she could speak with her manager. I called today just to check up on the status of my interview, whether or not they were considering me for employment. I asked for the manager, (I'm assuming his name is Michael) and he answered the phone hastily. I said Hello, my name is Marilyn I recently had an interview and was calling in regards to potential employment, just to see how the process is going. He asked what day I had the interview; I said Tuesday. He was very rude in responding, saying something along the lines of, "We're planning to figure out who we're going to hire on Monday so if you get a call back that would be an awesome sign." He was very condescending and spoke to me as if he couldn't be bothered. I said "Okay, awesome, thank you", and he responded with an abrupt, "Bye". Not even a half hour later, I get in email in regards to my application saying how they reviewed my application and decided to move on with other candidates. This seemed very spiteful. I have 6 years of on and off serving experiences, including places like IHOP, Applebees, and Friendly's. I had literally already went to the interview there and the interviewer was conversing with me like she was interested in hiring me. I know I wasn't rejected due to my qualifications. Based on his tone, his haste, and the way he spoke to me, I believe I was rejected because he didn't like the fact that I called to check on the status of my interview. Otherwise, why did he reject me a half hour later? Why didn't he wait until Monday to decide who he was going to hire, like he said? I was told I would get a call by the end of the week and had just innocently called to check. Things normal applicants and interviewees do. He had to have been annoyed by the fact that someone called to question the state of their interview, which is just a strange things to get upset about and decide not to hire someone for. He made me feel as if I inconvenienced him by asking, which is just unheard of. I did nothing wrong, I was nothing but nice on the phone, and I am appalled and disgusted by this behavior I did nothing to warrant. He seems like a very controlling man who does things on his terms and doesn't like when people interfere with his plans, which tells me a lot about how he would be as a manager if I worked there. I guess I dodged a bullet with this place! Despicable. read more
