This is a really great park, lots of space, disc golf, kids playground, baseball/softball fields and even hiking trails. If you're looking for a quick spot for outdoor exercise or place for your kids to play outside, definitely a go to

A little off the beaten path, but very accessible

Who knew when I joined Yelp!, that someday I would be writing about a disc golf course?! Well back then, I wasn't even aware of the sport. And now, this isn't my first disc golf course review. Buffalo Ridge Park is located on the north side of Phoenix and my oldest son has played it before. A couple months ago, he suggested we play this course because it's one of his favorites. He is an avid player and it's easy to see why this sport is so much fun. Everyone knows how to throw a frisbee. Now shrink that disc and add some golf strategy. This course is ideal for beginners as well as advanced players. It's easy to navigate but also presents some challenging holes. I'm not a novice but I'm also not as good as my son. He has a disc for every conceivable situation. The low desert scrub may not be as challenging as a course in say Flagstaff. There are no trees, but there are obstacles. We ventured out on one of the last nice late spring days and had a blast. The topography makes this course especially interesting. It's also fairly compact as you zig-zag back and forth, but you never feel like you're on a fairway being played by others. Also, it's the first course where I didn't lose a disc due to the vegetation. Check out the photos. Then go get your spin on!

I have a home for sale just a little north of Buffalo Ridge Park in Scarlett Canyon. Families with small children have considered purchasing my home and asked about playgrounds. So, I decided to go check it out for myself and was pleasantly surprised. I visited on a weekday, in September, at 4 PM and the temperature was about 102° These are my observations: 1. very clean playground areas with sand and rubberized surfaces 2. Both playground areas have large sun blocking canopies 3. Covered picnic table with single grill 4. Very well maintained ball field 5. Drinking fountains that we're functioning and had good tasting cool water. Yes, I even drink out of them 6. City of Phoenix maintenance personnel came to the property while I was visiting and emptied the trash containers 7. four basketball hoops, with intact back boards and the little chain netting thing that dangles from the hoop we're all intact 8. Initially the park was almost empty When I arrived to explore, but around 415 some high school kids walked over from the school across the street. Shortly after I observed three adults who in the large grassy area stretching their muscles, then another adult came with his dog and was playing in the field. 9. This park Is situated far enough from 16th street and Wescott Road to keep small kids safe from cars. 10. The house I have listed for sale is in a subdivision called Scarlett Canyon, about a half mile north of this park, and there is sidewalk access the entire walk or bike ride to and from Buffalo Ridge Park.

If playing frisbee golf in a canal that's been converted into a park isn't your thing, then feast your eyes on this beast! Hills, or are they mini mountains? You decide when throwing those frisbees to your heart's delight! Be forewarned, this is not a course for the beginner. There are many desert shrubbery, trees, and other unforeseen obstacles that await you around every turn. Make sure you bring extra bright frisbees, because you can spend countless minutes, sometimes up to 15 or 20 minutes searching for them! The scenery is great though. Around this time, there are many wildflowers that grow and it's not too hot this time of year in late January and early February. This appears to be a popular spot for frisbee golf enthusiasts because there were two groups not far in front of us and two groups after us during the midday Saturday before noon. With only 2 people, you can get through games fairly quickly, but with 4 people in our group we let some groups play through since only two of us actually had some skill while the other two didn't. I shall return though! This park offers a difference change of pace and scenery!

Buffalo Ridge is where it's at. If you're looking for a chill place to come, whether you're ditching your classes at north canyon or you're just a college loser looking to play ball late at night this park is a great place. There are hiking trails and ultimate frisbee thingies so it's really fun and there is a lot to do. If you come here at night some people look kinda sketchy but so are you, you're at a public park at night. Everyone is nice here. Except the police.

The reviews that are on here are for the frisbee golf course. I don't play, but i do enjoy watching them. I like the park because its so close to home. Our pup pup really likes to walk out there. Many bushes for him to potty on and believe me, he tries to hit them all. He has an amazing bladder, lol Many people also run and the ride their bikes on paths. This is a well respected park, meaning its pretty clean for a desert park, I don't know the golf part etiquette, but you can just tell, that it is taken care of with rock formations and whatnot. Please check out my pictures i posted.

The garden is well maintained and organized, quiet place for give yourself quiet time and meditation. The garden is not that big place to walk around, but it's definitely worth it if you feel like need to escape and looking for nature therapy--this is the one! Give yourself more time to sit back and enjoy the greenery. The staff is super friendly and welcoming! I will definitely come back again soon.

But personally, I just don't see it being worth the price of $14 a person. One of the biggest things for me was that the actual area itself felt a lot smaller than I expected. On top of that, there were SO many people packed in that it was hard to even stop for a second and actually enjoy the ambiance without constantly being surrounded by crowds or trying to move around people. It kind of took away from the experience because instead of feeling immersive or relaxing, it mostly just felt overcrowded. What also made it hard for me to justify the price is that you can literally see the entire thing through the fence from the park next to it. Honestly, if I ever wanted to see it again, I'd probably just go sit at the park, save my money, and actually have more room to enjoy the view comfortably without feeling packed in shoulder to shoulder with everyone else. Overall, it's definitely very pretty and visually impressive, but for me personally, the experience didn't match the cost enough to make me want to return.

I'd give the cleanliness and overall park quality a 10/10. There's something for all ages, and it's easy to spend a whole afternoon there. The train is definitely cute and fun for kids, but it's a bit overpriced at $5 per ticket, even for a one-year-old. Unfortunately, our experience with the train staff really took away from it. The woman taking tickets was extremely rude and didn't speak to us at all -- no hello, no eye contact, no thank you, nothing. It honestly felt like she didn't want to be there or interact with families. I was trying to make it a fun moment for my child by having them hand over the ticket, but they actually got scared and hid behind me. The woman selling the tickets, on the other hand, was very kind and welcoming. The park itself can also get very crowded, and we noticed older kids sometimes take over the younger kids' play areas, which can make it hard for little ones when there's roughhousing or inappropriate language. That's not really the park's fault, but it's something to be aware of if you have small children. Overall, it's definitely worth visiting at least once because it's a beautiful space with tons to do. I personally prefer smaller neighborhood parks for a calmer experience, but Anthem Community Park is great in terms of facilities. The biggest areas for improvement would be crowd management in the play areas and better, more family-friendly staffing for the train.

We've had some bad experiences with wasp infested splash pads lately but this one was not bad at all, I think I saw one flying around. Definitely a good amount of shading here, making it nice for the summer. My son had a lot of fun and this park was super clean and not overly crowded. Would definitely recommend and will come back again,
