I did not get the quality I was hoping for with the bison ribs. Tough meat with too much greasy fat. Won't be buying again.

I ordered leg of lamb for Easter and bison regular and culotte steaks for fun for me and my hubby. We were more than impressed with the quality and flavor of the meat. In a nutshell, we would buy again. I can get American raised lamb from my market but it's not always good. It gets gamey. And I'm really not that into the New Zealand lamb. Our leg of lamb arrived frozen solid. I thawed it in the fridge. (Ok, sometimes, I'd take it out to let it thaw on the counter but we were in the low 60s temp wise) It was an easy roast to make and everyone just scarfed it down at Easter. I have some lamb chops in the freezer that I'm going to thaw next week. I can't wait. On to the bison. Hubby was getting bored of beef. Even grass fed beef. Enter the beloved Bison. The flavor is a bit sweeter and is very delicious. I followed the directions and prepared the steaks simply and cooked them in my cast iron pan over medium heat. They were tender and just a joy to eat. Remember that things only get shipped out Monday and Tuesday. Everything is frozen solid. So you will need to leave time for thawing. I have ordered from Buffalo Gal on a number of occasions, and have widened the variety of meats ordered. Every time I received the meats they were packaged very well for the Florida heat, and exceptional in quality. The wild board bacon is addictive, and the elk was nothing short of a fantastic burger experience. I wish I could get chickens, and chicken tenders from them......then I would be set! If anyone is curious.....try that bacon...you WILL NOT be disappointed! read more

They put a tidy little enclosure included promising great customer service in with my order intended to engender a feeling of appreciation and welcome...it's disingenuous, which I discovered when I voiced a complaint. I ordered six (6) Bison filets which were advertised as weighting between 8-10 ozs each. The cost of the steaks plus shipping was approx. $195.00 which at the maximum weight of 10 ozs each would approach $52.00 per lb. The filets arrived intact, on schedule but upon inspection seemed like the weight was light. So, I unthawed two steaks and weighted them on a good, digital scale I use when making soufflés. The first weighted in at 7.0 ozs and the other at 7.2 ozs. We grilled them and they were very good. But, I was bothered by the underweight. So I weighted the other two packages. One was under one (1) lb and the other just over 16 ozs. So, encouraged by their warm enclosure, I called customer service and got a recording. No problem. I emailed my concerns and got a response the next morning from Nicole, who said they would be happy to include a free filet WITH MY NEXT ORDER! I replied that that wasn't good enough and thought another solution, like a free fillet sent immediately would be better...feeling but not voicing my opinion that this would be a better solution since receiving underweight steaks did not bode well for a reorder. Nicole responded by passing the buck up to their meat processor whom she claimed had FDA approved scales. When I expressed dismay over her questioning my veracity I asked if she or her boss wanted a two star review or five stars? After waiting four hours, Nicole replied that she had talked to the owner and he asked for pictures of the underweight steaks (now eaten), questioned the digital scale I was using and demanded a picture of the uncooked steaks. By this time, I was a bit insulted that they would feel that I was wrangling them for a free filet after demonstrating me willingness to pay $50.00 per pound. I told them to keep their steaks and delete me from their custome base, adding that business must be very good to throw a new customer willing to pay high prices, under the bus while arguing over a making it right. I recently made a purchase of a 1/4 buffalo from this place. 2 days later they called me to tell me they wouldn't sell to a first time customer because they were afraid i would dispute it through pay pal. The money had already cleared my bank but they still refused. Poor customer service. Not my fault other people ripped them off. They refunded my money and I took my business elsewhere and i suggest that you do the same. read more

Excellent buffalo meat. I bought the variety deal and extra hamburger patties. Arrived quickly and nicely frozen and packaged. Very tasty meat and I will be ordering again. The cookbook is great as well. Highly recommend!! read more

I have been a customer of buffalogal.com for over 9 years. The bison has always been good. So has the elk when it is available. The Swabian pork roast and bacon wrapped chicken have been good also. Recently, based upon past service, I ordered 10 Highlander top sirloin steaks and 10 kabob meat packages on May 21, 2018. I have since tried all ten of kabob meats and now eight of the top sirloin steaks. The one thing they all have in common is the meat was extremely tough, full of fat, and laced with gristle. I placed reviews on their website that stipulated this. The reviews have never been seen on the site by the public. I sent an email after over a month, July 7, 2018, and voiced my complaints about the meat and the fact that the reviews were not posted. Received a prompt answer stipulating that they did not know the reviews were placed on the site because they rarely have any reviews. Well, the reviews are still not there. In fact, the kabob meat is not even advertised. The reply to my email also included a code to use for the kabob meat with my next order. Next order? I was addressing this order. As explained in my email to them, I felt disrespected and uncared for due to them not showing my reviews. The feeling is they only show the positive reviews and ignore the others. As of right now, there will not be a next order. As mentioned earlier, I have purchased several times from Buffalo Gal since 2009. However, this is not the proper way to treat a good customer. read more
