They have coolers of prepackaged meat snacks, cheeses and cases of various meat in different cuts for cooking up at home. This place is top notch and the workers are super friendly and knowledgeable. Not just "hey there tourist" friendly, but genuinely so. If you keep an ear open you'll hear that they aren't having the same scripted conversation with every customer. I find that endearing and it makes me feel more appreciated. The store is fairly large and full of enticing tourist traps like more cheese, candy, wine, sodas, beer and other items. But it's not done in a kitschy sense, more like carefully curated vignettes of interest. Do I fall for these? You betcha! But I mostly budget for all the beef jerky I can carry. Seriously. I found out that I can order online to have it shipped to my house. I wept a little with joy. So, do I recommend that you make a special trip to the Holmen Meat Locker for beef jerky? Absolutely I do. And while you are there feel free to purchase some of their other offerings.

I did think the up charge from a veggie mix to asparagus for $8.00 was a bit much. It would have been appropriate for this to have been mentioned when offered. Appeal was my partner wanted prime rib. Place is dim lit, has a vibe that is historic and old. Dining area is decorated with train decor and vineyard items. I had the teriyaki chicken. Chicken was on the dry side, a little more pineapple would have been nice instead of a 2x2ish block that was mostly core. Salad bar was basic, not a classic WI supper club salad bar. Lettuce, veggies and dressings. Prime rib was reportedly decent. Nothing over the top. Waiter was asked several times to bring horseradish until my partner just got up and went to prep kitchen by salad bar and got it himself from an employee. Waiterstated that his other tables kept him busy. It's wasn't that busy. While we were waiting for our check, I started looked at the bottles more the are sitting on a ledge overlooking our table. This ledge is from about adult chest height to eye height. And then I noticed the black flecks. And as I get closer a I realize it's mice droppings. Then I look over to my partners side of the booth. I tell him to look at the black "sprinkles" and agrees it's mice droppings. We were speechless that being said. We got up and looked at the booths behind us and every booths had mice droppings. Even ledges away from tables. We continued walking from dining room to the bar area. That entire brick wall ledge on the way had mice droppings. How this is being overlooked is absolutely frightening. There is a definite mice infestation in this building.

Be careful though, there are signs that designate certain parking spots for bank customers only. On the outside, it's not overly impressive but as always, it's what's on the inside that counts. When you walk in, the fresh produce (local if available, organic and conventional options all abound) is the first thing you see. Nestled inside of the produce department is a generous salad bar, where you can build your own salad from a serious array of veggies, proteins and toppings for about $6 a pound. Not a bad deal if you're on the run or at the store and don't feel like cooking tonight! There's also an aisle solely dedicated to bulk foods, and their selection is completely impressive. Take a stroll down that aisle before settling on anything pre-boxed or pre-bagged. Make sure you take one of their provided stickers and write the PLU (provided on the dispensing canisters) on the bag for the person at the check out! They've got your standard fare (cereals, canned items, household cleaning items), but with an eye to what's organic, local, environmentally friendly etc. Their meat and dairy department is amazing, and you can pick up farm fresh eggs that are locally grown and harvested for just under $4 a dozen. I purchased some ground beef that was locally raised and grass fed, and it was exceptional. There's a fantastic deli department with pre-made items, a bakery that can definitely get you in trouble, and a wine and beer aisle with a cold side if you're in a hurry. There's even a section for essential oils and charcoal soaps and things of that nature. The best part is, you don't need to be a member to shop here. Membership is encouraged at about $100 or so a year, and you get special savings that way. I recommend the co-op to everyone I come across!

Parking is pretty accessible as well and the food here was fairly priced. I did think it was a bit odd that the restrooms were a bit of a long walk. The lines do move really slow and they tend to keep only one cash registered line open. Overall, it was a general grocery store with checking out.
