Buffomatic did an outstanding job on my 2015 Subaru. All the indicator lights were on and blinking. The dealer wanted to charge me $6,000. Buffomatic not only diagnosed my problem on the spot. They ordered the parts and repaired my car as soon as the parts came in. The car was done the same day I dropped it off. It only cost 1,500 a fraction of the cost the dealer quoted me. I would highly recommend them. Tammy Silvestri-Putnam Better Spaces Realty Better Spaces Realty read more

O stars! By far the most dishonest, shady, incompetent business ever. They take advantage of people who need help, stay far away. Pay the money to have your car towed far away to someone with better reviews. Not only did they rip us for thousands, do work that didn't need to be done, they destroyed our truck with bad workmanship, put things together backwards. We had our regular mechanic look at truck after 2nd attempt at repair and he was shocked by what they did and didn't do. They should be shut down before someone has an accident caused by their terrible work. Sent complaint to BBB. read more

I have used them twice now, the first my transmission failed entirely and most recently for a sensor. I've read the other reviews before I brought it in the first time and that was the complete opposite of my experience. In both cases my total was exactly what he told me he would charge. With the first one, I was even worked with when I couldn't afford the sudden expense of a rebuild. When I drove them crazy with every little question and even asking them to check out a smell they were patient. (Was just fluid dripped when it was filled) Even gave me his cell number to contact if I was concerned again. This time an additional bearing was found that should be replaced and although it took another day, he honored the price he told me initially instead of adding for the additional time being taken. Every place will have unfortunate reviews because it tends to be a bad experience that drives people to leave them. I was confident enough in my first experience that they were my first call when I needed something years later. Take the negative with a grain of salt. read more

Asked what absolute max $ would be. Owner said $3500.00 and if I didn't want work done I would owe $600.00 for diagnostics. I gave the ok. Then got a call from owner that actual bill bill would be almost $5000.00 and if I didn't want work done I would owe $750.00 for diagnostics. Don't use this company! Others say the same thing about price switch! read more

This place is ran by a complete crook and thief!!!! Do your self a favor and stay as far away from this place as you can! I should have known when I pulled into their graveyard of cars that this is where cars go to die. I am also disappointed in myself for not looking at the reviews prior to this. Anyway... I was originally told there was a $650 charge to diagnose the problem and it would be a few weeks before hearing back from them because they were so backed up. I received a call a few days later to be told it was a $5,200 repair. I kindly declined and said I am not putting that kind of money into the car. He told me it was a great car and foolish not to fix. I again asked him to please just have the car ready for me to pick up. He said he would work on a better deal for me and give me a call back. (This was on a Friday and he said he would call me back Monday) I never got the call on Monday and ended up calling back myself on the following Friday. When the owner Sean answered he said he was on the phone with an insurance adjuster and can he call me back. I said No, I've been waiting for a call since Monday. And he responds back with "I guess you've been waiting that long what's another 1/2 hour" When he picked up the phone he said he could do it for $3200 and that was a gift. Again, he said I would be foolish to not fix it. I said please just put the car back together ASAP and I will pick it up. He calls back the following Tuesday to say the car is ready to be picked up and I have invoice for approximately $1000.00. I called him and asked for an explanation of the charges and he told me that it was again another deal because normally they charge $650 to take the tranny apart and another $650 to put it back together. He said he did it for a flat rate of $1000. This does not sit well with me because when I originally dropped the car off I was told the $650 charge was to diagnose not to take apart or put back together. If I was told from the beginning that if I declined any work being done that I had to pay $1000+ to have absolutely nothing done I would have NEVER brought my car there. To make matters worse....I picked up the car to find they've blown every speaker in the car. This is by far the worst experience I've ever had with any business! read more

Owner is a stand up guy. State of the art facility. Great quality work. My truck runs better now than it did when u purchased it.

BEST ROBBERS IN ALBANY COUNTY. Apparently, I'm the only person that knew what crooks they are. I brought a classic car in for new steel lines from tranny to tranny cooler. These yahoos put in a six inch patch piece that any high school shop class could do in an hour. Two days later, my wife gets handed a bill for $540. She was told; "I don't know what was done. That's your bill. Pay me and you can have your keys back. But decide. I'm closing soon." read more

Don't let these guys work on your car, take it anywhere but here. I wish I could give them less than one star. My car was making a rattling noise when it hit 1500 rpm and the front right wheel was making noises when it hit bumps. I thought it was a problem with the transmission and wheel bearing. I brought it here and agreed to do a transmission diagnosis for $650 and wheel bearing replacement. They told me a few days later that it would cost a little over $7000 to rebuild the transmission, plus more for the wheel bearing. I told them no thank you, I would just sell the car instead. They said it ok, but it would cost another $650 to put the transmission back together, $1300 total just to get my car back in the same condition. They were essentially holding my car ransom and leaving me no option. After a few days of arguing, they lowered the cost by a little over $1000. I agreed because I was sick of arguing with them. When I picked it up, it sounded worse than when I dropped it off. When I told them, they said "no it didn't, we do QC checks". I took it to another mechanic to have it checked. They found that Buffo installed the transmission mount backwards and bolted it in without a rubber bushing, metal to metal, making an excessive amount of noise and vibration that it never made before Buffo worked on it. They charged me for two wheel bearing but only installed one. I would have never known unless I took it to get their work checked. When I told Buffo that, they said "yeah you would have known when you bring it back here in 15,000 miles". They warrantied their transmission work for 15,000 miles. My car still made a rattle at 1500 rpm and the front passenger wheel still made noises when it hit bumps. Turns out it was a rattling heat shield and a strut mount that were making the noises. When I told them I was contacting the BBB, they agreed to refund me for the wheel bearing they didn't install and tried to intimidate me by saying "we will respond to anything you write". read more

If I could give this place a 0, I would. At first the owner stated our company work van is worth fixing. It is in great condition for being over 15 years old. They asked me for $675 to do a diagnostic on the transmission. We said sure. They came back and said that the van needed a new transmission as well as more work. We said, no thank you it was not worth it. They told us that it would be another $700 something to put the transmission together again (the car could drive, but before we had Goodyear do the work, we wanted to see about the transmission). I said why do we have to pay to put it together isn't that what we paid you to do, look at it and tell us what is wrong? I explained we own a computer store and when someone comes in for a diagnostic we take the computer apart at times to find out what is wrong. If it is not worth fixing we don't hand you your computer back in pieces. He said well, it takes a while to take the transmission apart. Ok, well it also takes up to 3 days or so to take a computer apart and find out what the matter with it is, that is why we charge a diagnostic fee. He said well we have been calling you all week, well he has our cell phone numbers and we kept calling him. His voicemail is full so you cannot leave a message or the number is busy. We didn't get any calls. That doesn't matter what matters if I am paying you $700 to tell me the transmission is shot, ok that is fine that is what a diagnostic is.... to tell you what is a matter, but I should not have to pay more for you to put it together so I can drive my van away. Liar and cheaters. Oh and we tape all our calls and the owner said he told us about the $700 plus fee for putting it together. Well, playing the recording back, he didn't. We said we would have a tow truck pick it up today and said they couldn't WTF? read more

Defiantly stay away, they quote you over the phone. Don't stand by their quote, and jack the price up a couple hundred dollars and expect you not be be bothered. Told me there was something wrong with my transmission, and had to take a part the whole thing when it was fine. They're money hungry and I wouldn't trust this place as far as I could throw them. They try to take advantage of young adults and know they can get away with it. STAY AWAY. read more

Horrible service, terrible work. They are impossible to get on the phone. They are rude when they do answer. After 2 weeks, when I finally got through and was able to get my car, it broke down the next day because they forgot to refill some fluids. When I called to let them know, they had a nasty attitude and complained about having to come pick the car up. Do not go here under any circumstances! read more

This guy is probably the worst businessman I've had to deal with . he's what you call a con man gets your confidence then grabbes your money and a lot of it.he will put you off, tell you what you want to hear and steal any chance of a dealer warranty before you get to the dealer. He says he has to take the transmission apart basically grab your vehicle for $700 to determine what has to be done, like it's the first job he's ever done like it. Now he's got you and 1000 to $1,500 more than anybody else would have charged. Says it's better than anything a Nissan dealership could do.,Nissan doesn't agree. from that moment on you're screwed for any chance of getting a partial if not all the extended warranty kick back from Nissan. read more

He rebuilt the transmission in my camper when they pulled the transmission damaged and tore both my axle boots and refused to fix them and still charged over 8000.00 for the job costing me 1000.00 over the orig price Rick told me it would cost . and it still cost another 1000.00 to have someone else fix the damaged axle boots he ripped when they where prying against them to remove and reinstall the tranny. Terrible way to do buisiness in Albany NY read more

Too quick to change out transmission without knowing the problem. Told me I had to replace my NAG1 transmission when it turned out to be the TCM. $800 could have been $6000. I don't trust this guy!! read more

Sure wish I had read the reviews on this place before I had my towed my truck there. What a ripoff!!! $650 to take out the transmission, then of course the pan is loaded with metal. Yes its a 2008 silverado with 94000 miles on it. Reason, he says the brand new Transmission lines had arched out on the starter, causing a pin hole to leak out all the fluid. When I had my truck in my garage I could see under neath where the fluid was leaking. It was coming from above the starter and running down the wires. He then says that it also needs the shifting cable from the steering column to the tranny. And also it would need bushings and new shift rod for the transfer case. So the price to fix all this is $4970.00!! WTF I said no that I'm not going to fix it for that price. He had to go with another call and he would call back and see what he could do. He calls back and says he could drop the price to $3700.00. I said no again then he say he can do the job for $3000.00 he just happens to have a rebuilt unit on the shelf. Also the unit he took out of my truck has been rebuilt before. Said I will take the truck home, now I have to pay $702.00 cash only before he will release the truck. As I'm there and pay the bill he is taking pictures of the parts in the bed of the truck. Found that very strange And thought what a FN jackass this guy is. I talk to another shop and and said that he is also known for drilling holes in the transmission case. This new guy calls me and says the parts in the boxes aren't for my transmission!! Makes sense now why he takes pictures. He must spend a lot of time in court. The worst place I have ever dealt with! Face book review is next!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Wish I had listened to the dealer and stayed away from this crook. He is a liar and a cheat. On a Monday I brought my work van over to him with a grinding noise in the rear end. After the test drive he told me it needs rear differential bearings at a cost between $1000 and $1100, I then took it over to a Ford dealership and after the test drive they explained the same repairs at a cost of around $1500. I decided to save a few dollars and bring it to Buffomatic, considering it is all they basically work on there. Could not have made a worse decision. I told Sean Buffo ( the owner) I needed it fixed as quickly as possible, it was my only work vehicle. He agreed he would have it started the next morning. I call at the end of the next day to see how its going. I get an apology, they hadn't started working on it yet. I get a call a few days later (Thursday) with a message to call right away. They tell me that there is another part that was defective and I needed to get it replaced for another $600. I went down to get a look and they showed me a carrier that had been out of round. Seemed a bit odd so I asked them how much to put it back together and I would like a 2nd opinion, he says $1800 ! So I ask him how much time he has in it so far, he says 6 hours (just for taking it apart). I later asked a dealer how much labor to repair the bearings in their quote, they tell me the whole job is 5 hrs. He basically strong armed me into completing the repairs at his inflated price, I didn't have much of a choice and the thief knew it. He then calls me back later that day and asks me if I want to pay $100 extra for overnight shipping of the carrier, otherwise it could be 2 or 3 days wait. By now he has had the van for almost a week and he starts bitching at me because he has other potential victims waiting for my truck to be taken off the lift. At this point I am so frustrated I just wanted my truck out of there ! He orders the part next day delivery on Friday, I get a call on Saturday around 11am to come and pick up my truck. Sounds like they drove to another local shop or junk yard to get the carrier and scammed me out of the new part and overnight shipping costs. When I get to the shop, Sean is not around, but his girl is there to get my cash. I get the bill and its now $2700 ! Pay it now or leave the truck for him to wholesale to a used car dealer ! Guess he left a few overcharges and inflated costs out of the quote. If you deal with this unprofessional cheat be weary of what he says, and get everything in writing before he starts working on your vehicle. The only caveat, it is still running 30k miles later. read more

Can I give zero stars - His MO is to always get authorization to pull the trans - then it's too late you are in for a big bill. His assistant wanted authorization to pull my trans on a unit that was rebuilt in Rochester 16 months earlier while my daughter was in college. He was told the trans was rebuilt. I balked and the Owner called back stating a switch might do it. I went to my regular mechanic who found nothing wrong with the trans - reset check engine code and another code turned up - false code on tranny. It was a a pollution device. 8 months later trans is still fine. BEWARE. read more
