my go to mexican place. the building itself is shady, always has been. But the food is epic. The I personally love the steak/guaca nachos and burritos but overall the value can't be beat. And the meat is higher grade/cleaner than what you'll find at other places so way less chunky bits. Shout out to the guy that used to own the place that passed away. He was the man. I stopped by to celebrate the Burrito Day and ordered a pork and a steak one with the side oreder of the guac and chips. The order had a ground beef and a steak burrito and just the guac. $17. The burrito looks really big but as soon as you start to bite it you understand you've been had. They are very skimpy on the meat. This is one of THE MOST mediocre burritos I have ever had in my life. Half a pound of no-texture-no-flavor-no-meat wrapped in a store-bought tortilla. What else? The steak was chewy.. The guac lacked the flavor too.. they didn't add salt or pepper and it tasted like they used one of them sweet onions types. Bland. I thought long and hard about if I wanted to leave a review like this but I decided I had to and I'll explain why. I am also a small business owner and I take customer service very serious and I feel like the woman who took my order today had a serious attitude problem and was rude. There are plenty of other businesses in the area I could have gone to spend my hard earned money but I went there and felt like I was not a valued customer at all. Then to top it off the food was pretty bad. So because of these 2 issues I just feel I couldn't let this slide. The torta was average but the tamale was horrible and hard that I didn't even eat it. Where do I begin? The horchata from here is watery and also a very odd color of coffee and cream. I've never had horchata that was a creamy brown color. The steak is completely over seasoned and also tasted like carnitas instead of steak. The chips are rock hard crunchy and both salsa's are super spicy. Awesome family run restaurant. Tried steak, pork, and chili rellano tacos with rice and beans. The pork and rellano were amazing, and the beef was great too just not on the same level. Tacos were double tortilla wrapped (the best), the rice was good and the beans had a nice pile of cheese on them. The only thing the tacos were missing was some onion + cilantro. Went for carry out lunch yesterday as always, nearly every Saturday with my son. The place was empty at 12:15, should have know something was wrong. Ordered a large burrito; saw the price had gone up "again" ! My son ordered 3 tacos, all new faces behind counter left me wondering "did they change hands?" Everything fit into a smaller bag than usual. When asked about the hot sauce, they told me there was enough, so I asked how many and then asked for 1 more. They were indignant, reluctantly added added as I wished. Anyway, paid the $24 bill. Got back to my office and opened the meal. Had I not been a long time patron (5+ years) I might not noticed the burrito was mostly lettuce, almost no beans and a nearly imperceptible Chile. Mostly shell , which a third had to be torn to get what little flavor that was there. $9! Meanwhile, my son's tacos were also I won't of flavor according to him. He used a container of hot sauce on each one, which he never does for the now "street sized tacos" at $4.50 a pop. Even the hot sauce was watered down. Sorry to see this place the way it is now. Very good burrito. Great guacamole. Loud music in Spanish. I didn't mind the Spanish radio station, but I did think it was too loud. Staff lackluster but efficient. They make the food and call it out from the counter, where you are supposed to go get it. Its a fine system I guess, but they did not share it with me, so had to repeat a few times my order. I might have just brought it out at some point when it was clear I was not "hearing" it. Loud music played a role in this too. Tables could use a wipedown. I have been coming here for years because the food was fantastic and fairly cheap for the large sizes. Bonus: They had the best horchata around, hands down. I am only giving them 3 stars as I feel the service is changing. I bought a guacanacho meal and a large horchata like normal and was dismayed. This is a small family owned business. The building isn't that great - it's got a tiny dining room and it's not be renovated in a while. However, the food is great and the staff is friendly. If you're looking for that out of the way, reasonably priced, great food joint this is it. When my friends are in town, they always ask "Can we go to that Hole-in-the-Wall-Mexican place?" Its a dart in dart out kind of place but does have some good sitting tables as there have been days where I have taken some friends there to game for an hour or so. But the staff here are very friendly. Love the tacos here... I've had their chicken, steak, ground beef.. love it. The best thing that I love here is their hot sauce. I would ask for it on the side... and it usually comes in a little plastic container. Do not try this if you cannot stand "hot" food... As I am eatting my tacos, I love to sip the hot sauce!! yes I said sip... LOL It's awesome! A taco plate runs for about $7, which comes with 3 tacos beans and rice... so not bad at all. Food is usually prepared quickly and every thing is always packed nicely. I have no complaint. My favorite thing here is the Horchata. Its absolutely great!!! Do not make the mistake of buying the Giant anything unless you plan on sharing.. I'd almost suggest not even going with the super burrito if you're getting that. I ordered the junior chicken burrito and it was delicious (The rice can be on the dry side but the sour cream/chicken can make up for it if you like rice in the burrito). Tacos are made fresh to order and I would get 2-3 if you are making that your meal. Tortas bun is soft like a baby's bottom and has good flavor. I wish they put a little more guacamole though. Good combo for first timers would be the tortas and a taco of your choice (pork was good) The place is a little small but it never gets too busy where you are not able to sit down. It's decent prices and again huge portions. I am 100% sure you can make two meals out of the giant! My dad loves this place, and we'll do anything in his power to get us to eat here whenever we've had our fill of Chinese buffets. It's probably because this is the only place within a few miles of us that serves lengua (tounge) tacos. For what it's worth, those are pretty good. The pros: Aforementioned lengua tacos. Portion size, you will be full, guaranteed. Speed, you will be full fast, like within 5 mins of placing your order. Cons: With speed comes a trade off in quality. The guacamole is a dull yellow instead of a vibrant green, and tasted like it had no seasoning whatsoever. The rice was falling apart, like they used rice made much earlier in the day, and all of the seasoning started clumping up instead of being evenly distributed. The last big thing I noticed was that the horchata was incredibly diluted. Which was OK because I need to cut back on sigar, but not ok because I paid for a large glass of horchata flavored water. Maybe it was one of their slower days (saturday lunch) and they compensated by skipping on some of the freshness and taste today. But consistency will always be your friend when looking for customers, and today they didn't deliver. read more

I recently moved to the Wood Dale area and had a taste for some authentic Mexican food. Having found that there are probably close to 40 different Mexican restaurants in or around the area, I was in luck. My fiancé was on her way home from work and I told her to stop at the closest one to her location. I told her I just wanted a steak burrito and also sour cream and cheese inside the burrito. I also asked her to pick up a loaded nacho to bring home. When she arrived she realized there was no sour cream and cheese and also extra sour cream cost $.80 extra add on. The place was deserted from what she told me and after tasting the food I can see why. It was awful. It was some of the greasiest old tasting food I've ever had. When I bit into my burrito, it was not steak, but was ground beef. It was extremely greasy and the grease had a hint of fish taste that is normally an indicator of old grease. The food here also is not cheap. The nachos were equally as bad -- old tasting tortilla chips with old grease flavor. But, don't just listen to me, check it out for yourself this is just my opinion. read more

Grabbed lunch here the other day. Reasonably priced and they ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS. Got a 2 chicken taco lunch special for around $6. The chicken was ok, but very spicy. It was drenched in a red sauce which I haven't seen before at other places. Also, this place is no joke with their sauce (they give generous amounts of both red and green sauces).
