Labor day we were making our way through Kansas on I-70 pulling a fifth wheel camper when we had an…read moreaxle weld break on the camper that quickly stopped us. The State Trooper that pulled over to help us called Affordable towing and they were on it. They were able to get a mobile welding truck to us within about an hour (on a holiday). Daniel was able to fix the original weld break replacing the spring brackets entirely and even spotted the broken welds on the opposing side of the trailer saving us a second breakdown, hundreds of dollars, and so much time as it would have broken shortly after if not found. These guys know what their doing and I could not recomend them more. If you ever find yourself in the area and in a jam, CALL THEM. Let me repeat...OUR PHYSICAL BEINGS HAD TO HELP HIM UNLOCK OUR CAR USING OUR PRY BAR AND OUR TOOLS. HE DID NOT COME WITH SUFFICIENT TOOLS. This isn't the problem. He left, and didn't charge us but didn't tell us how the billing system worked either. So, after careful debate, we called the shop. We didnt want to pay out of pocket full price for doing half the work to unlock the vehicle, using our tools, our aid, etc. The service itself took over a half an hour for him to figure it out. So we called the shop and explained and the woman on the phone was quiet. She asked if he charged us, we said no. And she said then it would need to be addressed with the driver. Let me remind you, we did not know prior to this that that was the case. This is still not the issue. The issue was the extremely unprofessional text that the driver text us with. He included that he "did some things he shouldn't have in order to help us", and "should have walked away when he first couldnt open the door". DRIVERS BEWARE!! As…read moremuch as I hate to blast a small business on Facebook, Schroll's Body and Paint has gone out of its way to prompt this post. Background: two years ago I had a repair done in which Schrolls repaired this fender flare - including the messed up/mismatched paint. Fast forward two years, and I am back for another repair to the same side. When the repairs were complete (the second picture) this is what they gave back to me as "repaired." When I complained, Chance (the owner) told me that I could pay out of pocket or get a supplemental claim and they would fix it. When I followed up to get this OBVIOUS problem corrected, they refused to do the work. Yesterday, I recieved this message from the shop: "After reviewing the photos we took of your Jeep in February, we have decided to return the check to XXXXXX since it clearly did not match before we did repairs in early April. We are not interested in doing anymore repairs to your vehicle. You can talk to your insurance about sending the check to a different body shop. Thank you, Ashley Cottrell" This company is always free to refuse service to anyone, but they are not allowed to do shoddy work, promise to make it right for more money, and then refuse the work AFTER ackowledging the problem needing repair. __________________________________________________ Summary: - the Jeep color is standard 1990 jeep metallic khaki (Chrysler paint code PJ5/HJ5) and should have been easily matchable - Schrolls did the work that resulted in the mismatched paint the first time. - Schrolls replaced the molding with an aftermarket molding that does not match up with the original by 1/4 of an inch AND it is improperly mounted/mated to the step molding. - Schrolls failed to blend the right wheel molding with the step molding - Schrolls committed to completing/fixing the work upon completion of a supplemental claim. - Schrolls refuses to correct their substandard work after accepting payment for that substandard work. Regardless, all anyone really needs to know is that the owners of Schrolls Body and Paint ALLOWED/APPROVED this work out of their shop AND defended their use of ill-fitting aftermarket parts, misaligned molding, and mismatched paint - AND THEN refused to fix their shoddy work WHILE keeping the insurance payment. Caveat emptor
