    Pesto

Very nice little shop for sandwiches chips and drinks. There is a small outdoor section for eating. I had a pesto sandwich and it was put together very well. The pesto was fresh and delicious. The staff is very friendly and patient. Great local spot for easy lunch or snack.

I love Buds. They have a great, affordable menu, delicious Chai, and friendly service. While I don't eat plant-based all the time, I do enjoy the Bahn Mi at Buds when I'm in the area. It's a huge sandwich, delicious, and flavorful. And under $10?! Such a steal. Plant-based or not, I'd recommend you give Buds a shot!

For those who want a quick review: Woah, all I will say to this is my jaw dropped. Got the Buffalo sub but in a wrap with extra chicken. I will say that it was fantastic If this is what vegans eat every day then I can see the appeal. For something more in depth: For context I am one that is on no particular diet, I'm not vegan, nor am I on a carnivorous diet. All I wanted today was a sandwich or something of the like. So I scoured yelp for a sandwich, and I found buds. I looked on their website and found that everything is vegan, which i usually am quite skeptical of. But my vegan coworker told me that he loves this place, and that even his non vegan friends raved about the buffalo sub. So i decided to place an online order, making my sub into a wrap with extra chicken($10.12 after tax, $1.50 of that being the extra "meat"). So I gandered on over from state street and walked up to the window to pickup my order, got my food and started walking back. I didn't sit down but they do have shaded seating outside. I opened up my food and saw it was pretty decently sized, and started taking my first skeptical bite. Let me tell you that this was fantastic, the buffalo sauce had just enough kick, the food was warm and the texture of the cabbage and tomato 'wrapped' up a delicious bite(pun intended). I was flabbergasted, this was unlike what I had expected. The food was on point and it kept me satisfied the whole walk back to work. I will say that I will be back, and will probably bring more with me because this place is fan freaking tastic. Rating: 5/5 stars

First time here. The ordering and pick up process was smooth, and the staff were friendly. The vegan cheesesteak was so delish!! For $8.00, you get a really generous portion. I just wish it came with a bit more sauce. Will still be back!

Buds is located in Central City and offers vegan sandwiches. When I usually think about small portions, but that is not the case with Buds. This is a fat hoagie. Wrapped in aluminum foil, making you feel like you overate. The service was friendly and relatively quick. There's an outdoor seating area along with water dispenser right by the pickup counter. The sandwiches were fat and comforting. I loved the sprouts in my veggie sandwich. But loved the pesto sandwich my wife ordered. We were just in town briefly as we had to leave for the airport. SLC is definitely vegan friendly with great places like this

Please do your self a favor and try the horchata cold brew. The pesto has always been my go to. Such great tasting subs. A vegan staple.

Bud's is a SLC vegan fixture. It is a sandwich stand with limited outdoor seating on the curb in the sun. The food is good but Bud's falls flat on service. We had the Italian sub and the philly cheesesteak. The bread is fresh and so are the ingredients. But both would have been improved with mustard for the italian and ketchup for the philly. Bud's neither stocks nor distributes condiments of any kind. Bud's says "no ketchup for you". Bud's does not accept legal tender of any denomination, only electronic. Bud's will not do special orders. Bud's wants you to order online, pick up your food, then clear the F out directly. Bud's is a sandwich stand, not a restaurant. Manage your expectations. No recommendation decide for yourself.

Which was made up of perfectly fried pork topped with Dukes mayo (my fav), ranch-kraut (my new fav), and dill. You can really taste the ingredients which is such a plus for me as too many ingredients in a sandwhich can get muddy. - They had a special butternut squash soup with calabrian chili which was phenomenal. At only $3 it was a perfect side for winter. CONS: - Pricey. I think at this price point if it added a bag of chips or some time of fruit or a small little side or maybe a can of soda included it would be a perfect meal and a very reasonable price point. My only suggestion.

The owner was kind and helped me pick between the two sandwiches I was being indecisive about - the Oh Schnitzel and the Hot Chopped Cheese. He asked if I could handle spicy and I said yes. I let him choose a sandwich for me between the two and he chose the Hot Chopped Cheese and said he thinks I'd enjoy it. He described it as a sandwich with chopped-up cheeseburger fillings inside, and they use a lamb and beef patty instead of just beef. Right, he was. I thoroughly enjoyed the sandwich and the meat was spiced and slightly spicy, but nothing I couldn't handle. The sandwich was flavorful, and I'm impressed that the bread wasn't too thick because sometimes places serve sandwiches with way too much bread-to-filling ratio. The bread was also a nice texture, I'm glad it wasn't too toasty or crunchy like some sandwiches can get that rub the roof of my mouth raw. I felt like I had a well-balanced meal out of the Chopped Cheese. Flavor-packed meat, cheese, veggies, bread - that's all you need. The food was delicious, and I don't doubt that the rest of the items on the menu taste great, but the prices feel high, yes, even in this economy. I say this because I was able to finish this sandwich and still felt I had room to eat some more, perhaps a little snack. I almost always cannot comfortably finish my food in one sitting when dining out, so that was a sign to me that this wasn't all that much food, and I could tell from the get-go because the sandwich did look small.

I went with the mozzarella-filled risotto ball with marinara and a mozzarella tomato salad. Yes, it was a very mozzarella-heavy lunch choice and I stand by it. Also grabbed a fro-sè and kept it simple with a San Pellegrino. My other half definitely won the "better lunch" competition with egg salad sandwich, roasted brussels sprouts, and the pasta salad combo was ridiculously good. Parking was easier than expected too. There's a side parking lot we totally missed at first, plus a lot of nearby street parking. Pretty Bird -- Downtown Salt Lake…read more Pretty Bird does not believe in subtlety, and frankly, neither should you. I ordered what appears to be a chicken sandwich but is actually a structural engineering project: crispy fried chicken stacked with pickles and a mountain of bright purple slaw, all barely contained by a shiny brioche bun. The chicken has that proper crunch-you-can-hear-from Temple Square situation, while the pickles and slaw cut through the richness with enough acidity to keep you from immediately needing a nap. And then there are the fries. CRINKLE FRIES. A heroic pile of them, golden and aggressively snackable. They seem to have been designed specifically for the moment when you tell yourself, "I'll just have one more," approximately 37 times. The side of what looks like a creamy, seasoned dip/salad situation was also doing some serious work. Between the herbs, spices, citrus and cheese, it brought enough flavor to make me briefly reconsider whether I had ordered lunch or accidentally attended a very delicious Mediterranean cookout. Pretty Bird is exactly the kind of Downtown Salt Lake meal you want after wandering around downtown: messy, indulgent, flavorful, and completely unconcerned with whether you look dignified while eating it. Pro tip: Don't wear your nicest shirt. That purple slaw is beautiful, but it has the energy of a tiny edible crime scene. Would absolutely return. 10/10. My cardiologist may have a different Yelp rating.

You get picnic table seating under an awning and one of the kitchen staff run the food out when it is ready. The restaurant has no phone number if you mis-order something, nor a register to pay cash. It's a very lean restaurant to say the least. Food: Options are little limited, just a sandwich or tenders with few side-options. The chicken sandwich itself carries the restaurant followed by the pickles. The chicken thighs are large and juicy, definitely larger than anything you'll get at a chain. The breading was crisp and generally well-adhered. I think the biggest controversy is the seasoning which has a slight sweet almost cinnamon-y flavor. The medium heat sandwich was relatively mild with the cabbage and bread factored it but the hot-seasoned fries were actually quite spicy given the high surface area. I didn't really enjoy the heat overall however as it was a uni-dimensional cayenne heat. The pickles are great however, they tasted fresh with a mild-moderate tang and firm texture. Overall, I think this place is kind of a mixed bag. It's a bare-bones "restaurant" and they fresh fry their chicken so they are crunchy and hot. The portions are very filling and they nail small details like the buns. On the other hand, the fries are mediocre and the seasoning is lightly sweet which you can't opt out of. I think it's still worth trying at least once but expect it to be a love-it-or-hate-it kind of place.
