I cannot emphasize how lousy our two night experience was at the B & B. The sleeping room was small, very dusty, full of cobwebs, and uncomfortably hot, 83 degrees, (the window AC unit did not work properly). The refrigerator was located in the closet and was unplugged upon arrival as was one of the only two lamps in the room. I had to crawl behind the bed (very dusty and dirty) to plug-in the lamp for marginal room illumination. How anyone could report that the place was clean leaves me wondering how some people live. The double size bed was situated up against the wall, making it necessary for the second bed occupant to crawl over the other bed occupant to exit the bed (very thoughtless design layout). This room should have been designated for single person use only. The parking area that was designated for the house guests only was extremely inadequate (tight and dotted with large stones that one had to navigate to exit the vehicle. The main driveway open area was restricted to the proprietors use only. This is slightly short sited and selfish. Speaking about the proprietor, she was missing in action, intentionally avoiding the obligatory social contact that is expected and necessary for a B & B hostess. The minimal breakfast was set out on a small serving table in the front living room and you were expected to share your meal with the numerous bees on the front porch while balancing a plate on your lap. The website pictured dining table was completely unavailable and behind closed doors. We never set eyes on the dining table. All I could think of was a bait and switch game during our entire stay. The swimming pool exhibited a closed sign for the entire period with no access on both 90 degree days. After thirty years of operating a B & B establishment (as is posted on the website), I would expect that the commonly written criticisms would have been improved and corrected by this time. So very disappointing…read more Let me start by saying that I love bed-and-breakfasts, and I like how a good b&b costs about the same as a nice hotel room, but is more personal, individual, private. At least, it can be. In over fifteen years of traveling and staying at b&b's, I have seen them range from cozy and quaint to resplendent and regal. They've all been wonderful. In July I traveled to Fairport with my 3 y.o. daughter and her sitter for a local Korean daycamp. We booked a room to stay at the Clematis Inn, and my first interactions with Theda, the innkeeper, were pleasant. She was courteous and kind, even offering to bake gluten-free pastries instead of regular ones - my sitter can't have any wheat gluten. (I know how much more expensive the gluten-free flours are, so I appreciated this gesture). We discussed arrangements for my toddler's sleep and camp schedules, I mailed a check, and we eagerly awaited our vacation. Immediately after we arrived, I could sense something a bit "off" about this place. Yes, it is clean and pretty, and Yes the pastries are incredibly delicious (if I were reviewing the pastries, I'd give 5 stars) - however with comments ranging from "I keep a quartz crystal here to deflect harmful rays from my inn" to "I was a federal agent, but I am only allowed to tell my guests certain things about it" - I could see that Theda was not completely... hinged, let's say. Normally, an eccentric innkeeper would just color a good story, but I'm afraid this story ends badly. It started with the odd assertion by Theda that she was turning down other guests so that she could devote more time to us, and specifically, to my daughter. As a business owner, I found this implausible; as a mother, it was creepy. Things culminated to a head when we made up a bed with clean sheets - heaven forbid. Apparently Theda was hurt that we used sheets that were of "personal value" to her (though they were in the linen closet of a guest room), and she was offended that we did not ask her for permission to make the bed. But, the oddness took a turn for the worse when the innkeeper, between crying and yelling about her sheets, snapped at my toddler. That was the final straw for me, and we checked into a hotel that night. Travelers to Fairport, NY: beware of Theda at the Clematis Inn. You have friendlier, cleaner, more professional options elsewhere in town.

Theda remembered us from our prior visit when we called, and was very gracious in welcoming us back! Theda had a jug of ice water with orange slices ready and waiting in our room for us, and cut short an errand run to be there to greet us. As it was previously, the room was immaculate as was the attached bathroom. Both were beautifully decorated, and the bathroom had a whole bunch of (many organic) personal care items. The linens were very luxurious and were high quality. Breakfast each morning was delicious and made from organic, fresh, and local ingredients. She specifically purchased whole milk and fresh blueberries for our 2 year old. When she found out that our 2 year old's favorite berries were blackberries, those appeared on the table the next morning for him. She was extremely kind to our son, and went out of her way to interact with him. Theda was very helpful with local directions, activities, and places to eat while we were there which was great as it was a holiday weekend and a lot was closed. I would highly recommend a stay at the Clematis Inn!

The Marriott Fairfield Inn Airport is aptly named. Unlike the other hotels in the area using the…read morename "airport" because they are close to the airport, the Marriott is actually IN the airport. If you're arriving in Rochester by air, you'll find the hotel right across the street from the terminal. If you're driving in, it's a little more confusing. It's not unlike playing Uncle Wiggly. (If you don't know what that is, do a google search.) Just drive through the baggage and arrivals area, and you'll find the hotel right next to the long term parking structure. (At the time of this writing, the terminal is under construction. I tried to follow my GPS instructions when the voice said, "Make a slight left" which I did,and wound up taking a scenic drive through the long term parking structure. The smile on the attendent's face told me I wasn't the first. One more roundy-round of the arrivals area was the trick - it wasn't possible to "make a slight left" because that roadway isn't there currently.) Once you figure out the way around the game board, checking in is typical Marriott, fast and efficient. There is one elevator in the center of the building, which isn't bad because it's only three floors and doesn't have a big footprint. The room was a touch on the small side but usuable. Three adults fit comfortably. The decor is pleasant, the carpeting is resonably new as the woodwork seems to be new. I would like to see an additional night stand, and outlets for battery chargers are a bit sparse. It also seems a bit on the pricey side for what it is, but we did happen to be here on the weekend that the University of Rochester is holding graduation ceremonies. If that wasn't enough, there was a professional bicycle race in downtown Rochester this weekend, putting even more strain on the city's lodging. All things considered, Iwould stay here again, especially if I were flying into ROC.

You would think a cemetery should be very quiet except on Halloween? Wrong. Super loud noisy sirens and honking starting before sunrise. Didn't sleep well on the first night. Asked to move to a quieter room facing the courtyard. It made all the difference. On the other hand: clean and nice pool. Not overrun by kids. No one was there in fact. Lucky us. Very nice relaxation upon arrival from the airport. Their on-site restaurant was also alright, see my other review.

Very disappointing…read more For one, my room was between 75 and 78 degrees during the entire stay despite my unit being set to COOL and 55-60 degrees. They swapped the thermostat housing twice but that didn't change anything. They provided a parking pass which I assumed paid for the parking garage since this reservation was so expensive, but it only linked it to your room and made it cost more! It normally would cost $10 to park for the day but using their parking pass made it $14 a day and then they even added another $10 for most days so I was paying $24 a day to park! Also, they charged me 56 for some meal despite me never eating there. Maybe someone gave them my room number or they typed someone's room number incorrectly. It felt like pulling teeth calling them to remove the meal charge and the double parking. Either the manager wasnt there to remove it and was supposed to call me back multiple times but didn't, or I got ahold of them and had to argue about these charges. Exhausting. Edit: I'll even attach the receipt and spell it out: - $313 for parking (some double charges) and food(that I didn't order) - $56 refund for the food I didn't order - $56 charge for the food I didn't order - $56 refund for the food I didn't order - $57 refund for the double parking charges - $57 charge for god knows what

The staff went above and beyond, and left us pleasantly surprised and pleased. Even the small touches as the St. Patrick's Day decorations made this place feel like home. The complementary breakfast was great. The hotel was clean. All Wyndham hotels are environmentally friendly yet accommodated to whatever we needed. Most patrons may not enjoy the lack of elevators; however, there are only two floors with minimal stairs. The rooms were quiet and the bed was comfortable. There are so many shops and restaurants within miles of this location. Perfect for laying your head during a New York winter. I would highly recommend staying at this location if you are in Victor, New York.
