My car broke down and I was in Dayton. Had the car towed to the dealership, and asked about a rental. They sent me down the street to Enterprise, which "though" they might be able to get me a pick up truck. Nope. Called my son and he said he had just the solution...and brought me here to his go to spot. At first they said I needed to book in advance, but when I explained my situation they quickly found me a car. It was a Hyundai Electra, and I gotta say, I loved it. So much I'm buying one. I always used to drive Hyundai's but for many reasons I decided to keep my husband's jeep after he passed. They were busy when I returned, and said I was a gallon low (even though I just filled up!) and charged me a $15 fee for that. Oh well, I had a car for more than a week and that was what I needed. We recently rented from budget. The car itself was very nice. Had no complaints at all with the car. The only complaint I have is when we picked up the car, the printer was down and they were unable to print my rental agreement. I was crossing the border into Canada and needed a copy of the agreement if I was questioned about the car being mine, they said they would send it to my email later that day when their printer got up, well later that day, nor the next day, or the whole time I had the car they never did get me a copy of my rental agreement. I contacted customer service and had four different representatives get back with me , none of whom seemed to have any understanding of what was going on, so I had to repeat my complaint to each one of them individually. The last one told me they could not provide me a copy of my rental agreement. I find that totally unacceptable. I had no proof whatsoever on my trip that I had rented this car. Fortunately, a young fellow at one of the hotels we were at did manage to help me find a copy of something on the website on my account page, that at least showed I had rented the car and the serial number, license plate ect. of the car all matched. We thought that would be sufficient if I got pulled over for anything. The counter people at budget when we got there were awful, the one girl was arguing with a man who had planned for 2 years for his trip and was having problems with his car breaking down. This girl said loud enough for all in the waiting area to hear, "I'm going on vacation next week and you can bet I will not be renting a car" And then laughed about it. She also told this fellow that they might have a van down in Cincinnati for him, but she couldn't be sure he would have to find A way down there and "hope" they have a van available. The counter help there at Dayton international airport is atrocious. The rental agent was completely useless and unhelpful on helping me secure another vehicle at a different location. If you decide to reserve a car with these people, be warned, the odds are they won't have it there. Got set up so they could keep my 363 dollar deposit. We brought one car back that they claimed had dog hair and "worms". We have dogs- and we are moving and any dog hair came from our things. Got a lecture about how we could get charged a 450 dollar cleaning fee. I asked her if we were expected to return the car in pristine condition and she said no. The Avis website does specifically say that dogs ARE allowed as long as you clean up after them. Evidently, the employees set policy there.They give tips as to how to keep the car clean. The Avis website specifically uses the term "up to 450 dollars". Up to! We also took the car to a car wash and vacuumed the interior. So how we returned the car dirty I don't know. We paid by credit card, and, yes, I have the receipts. Well, of course my car broke down again. So off to Avis I go. I learned something here-if I ever get another lecture from someone I'm patronizing I'll hightail it away like quick. We took the car through a car wash and took ALL the trash out. We did not vacuum and it as it was surface debris and knew they would be vacuuming and it would be picked up by a routine cleaning. Imagine my dismay when I saw the bill! They tacked my whole deposit on my credit card. Of course I called them- they then told me that ANY cleaning time over 20 minutes would allow them to charge THE FULL 450 DOLLARS! Oh- when we rented the car I had used a credit card. She told me I still had to pay a deposit!!!! So I got stiffed for my credit card AND the deposit. More evidence of being purposely set up. I now understand the consistent bad review of this place. Worst customer service of all Avis car rental branch I ever had. I prepaid my reservation but I left my credit card at home in CA. She would not let me pick the car up even after I showed her my ID, other credit cards. Fortunately, my wife has it but I had to call her back after she droped me off. Do not rent from this place! I did not read the reviews until after I had already selected this facility to rent a vehicle but never again. There was a huge, dead bug in the front vent of the car when we got in, which scared the crap out of me because I'm thinking the car is infested with bugs. It was not clean. Ice cream or some sticky liquid was on the gear shift. There were crumbs everywhere on the dashboard, cup holders and everywhere else in the front of the car. To top all that off, there was a "maintenance needed" light on and message that the associate said, "Oh don't worry about that" to. Who wants to drive a car out of town with a maintenance light on and they have no idea what's wrong, if anything, with the car?? The tire pressure light was also on and we had to fill the tires after leaving off the lot. God bless the young lady working the desk but many things need to change at this location. read more

We reserved a truck on May 6th for a large truck for a whole house move on May 22nd. They called us at 5:10 PM on Friday, the day before we were supposed to pick up, to tell us our truck is not available. They offered us one at half the size, but still .79 a mile, so now we're going to double our milage charges. Since they waited so late to call, everything else is closed. We have no other option, but to take this bait and switch. Totally unacceptable. At the very least, there should be some kind of accommodation for the smaller truck. read more

Lol! I met Dawn today. Seemed like she was indifferent toward me. I seen allot of great customer service skills being showed to other customers though. Maybe it is just me she could not assist. I booked through kayak. Deposit was twice the rate of the car rental. I heard her talk about other ways to bill a car for other customers. Have had numerous issues with this location. The reviews on yelp prove that this Avis is being ran very poorly. The lady at the front desk should never work in customer service. We are in the lobby waiting for at least 15 minutes now while the counter lady sits in the back. She put this sign out. But this April 2019, I rented online - took my trip, turned in the car and was charged a second time. $250 plus - twice. We called to get it cleared up - they told us "Oh, that will come back off in a day or two". Well, it hasn't. So now WE have to jump thru their hoops to get it back off again. (Go to your banks website and get a screenshot of the 2 payments then ... blah blah blah etc). What a ripoff. If this doesn't clear up I will not let this go. If I could give a zero this place deserves it!! Rent a car and was offered an upgrade. Asked if I rented the same deal online could I just keep the same car. I was told by the "owner " that I could. So I needed another month did what she said and reserved it online and when I called to confirm the owner was very rude and acted like she wasn't letting me keep the same car. So I plan and simple asked her why she lied then. She went off in a tangent about me calling her a liar and that if my attitude didn't change that I can't rent. I always have friendly services there, BUT, I have had to call the corporate office twice over 2 different rentals about charges that shouldn't be there. I have rented about 10 cars from there recently for work. One car I rented at 8am on a week day and when I went to return it I found out that they didn't open until 9am that day (weekend) and there was no drop box, so I waited and returned it at exactly 9am. I was charged a late fee and an hour over my time fee, about $50. I called corporate and explained it to them and they refunded me the late fee and HALF of the hour fee, at least I got most of my money back for something that was out of my control. I just recently rented a car and had to extend my rental twice. I was charged $100.91 for the reservation, $111.64 when I extended it. I extended it one more day and then returned it. I was charged $230.23 after I returned it. It had a full tank of gas and everything. So mind you, that is $442 about for a 8 day rental. So I called corporate and they don't even see the $230 charge on their end. I called my bank who assured me that it is a posted charge and not pending. So now I have to email my bank statements to Budget to have them confirm it and refund me the money that can take 3-5 days after they review it. Now, I have never had a problem with customer service with the woman and man that work there. They have always been extremely nice to me, I have no idea who is at fault for the charges so I do not want to say anything bad about the employees. But this is freaking ridiculous. read more

I spoke with the owner she was the one working and said my computer is shut down sorry you're out of luck. I would give my experience negative stars if it was available. This has been by far the worst experience I have ever had in customer service. From not being informed of policies (and then being yelled at for not knowing what they were) to being sent all over Dayton to get a car, to finally being locked in the Budget lot at the end of the day, the entire experience has been brutal. I never did actually use a Budget car, but I cannot get my money back. I have been told so many different reasons why that I am still not sure what the real reason is. I have spent hours on the phone as well as significant time speaking with Budget employees in person and I have only found one person out of the many I spoke to who wasn't rude, condescending, or flat-out mean. I was even told that my being locked into their lot was my fault in spite of the fact that I don't have keys and I don't have any control over who locks the gates and when. I rented a car on Friday, was supposed to return it on Monday. Went into the hospital with a life-threatening emergency and was there for almost a week - then they started tacking on fees for everything. What was supposed to be a $100 car turned into $1000 car rental in less than a week! My son took in my discharge paperwork to the owner to show them I really was in the hospital and the owner, Dorian I think his name is said they could credit back some of the money but we had to call corporate because he couldn't credit it all. We called corporate and they said it was privately owned and the credit wouldn't come from them. So nobody is crediting anything back and long story short I almost died 2 weeks ago and when I get out of the hospital my checking account is $1049 overdrawn for a car we had for less than a week, my Vectren, cable, and water are going to get shut off and I will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, do business with these people again!
