From the start, Tile Center made this piece of our process easy and pleasant, and we love the outcome. As project manager, Joe was incredibly helpful and easy to communicate with. He came to our house very quickly after our initial outreach, returned later with grout samples, and walked us through options at the showroom. He always responded quickly to emails and texts. He helped us navigate tile shortages and advised us when we needed to order from a third party. Thomas, the installer, was also fantastic. His work is beautiful, and on top of that, he was just incredibly lovely to be around. He not only tolerated, but was awesomely kind to, our very loud and unhelpful dog! He also went above and beyond dealing with various issues that arose. James, who came on one of the days, was also great. On top of everything else, we really appreciated how both Joe and Thomas worked things out so that we could live in the house throughout the installation. From there, Harvey did a fantastic job walking us through the best way to achieve what we wanted (removing a peninsula that cut off the breakfast nook; converting a large, outdated pantry- that used to be used for a washer/dryer- into a coffee bar area; installing some floating shelves). Harvey also pointed us to counter and cabinet vendors that had exactly what we wanted for our new look. Even when we came up with ideas during the renovation beyond the scope of what we originally talked about, Harvey was very accommodating. Everything started out smoothly. Jacob arrived to my house and we discussed the project we wanted…read moredone. Replace laminate flooring with carpet for the majority of our basement. Carpet was supposed to go all the way to the pillar shown in the picture. Jacob explained that due to where the laminate was installed, they were able to get very close to the pillar, roughly 1 inch away. We agreed to this and a quote was received and approved. When the installers arrived, I explained to them everything as I explained to Jacob, including installation up to the pillar. They asked if they were doing the stairs too, and I said no. This should have been the first red flag of miscommunication. When the work was done, I noticed that the carpet did not reach the pillar as we have discussed. It was roughly 2 vinyl planks away (over a foot away!). The installers told them Jacob only told them 17ft installation, not to the pillar. Which was odd, since I specifically told the installers that it should have gone up to the pillar. If there were some confusion, why did they not ask me about it? At this point, it was too late to fix. Jacob arrived and confirmed it as supposed to go the pillar, and further confirmed that it was too late to do anything. By failing to remove all the vinyl planks up towards the pillar, this also caused the end of the carpet to not be able to be tucked under the laminate. Now there is an area of the carpet that sticks out as well, also shown in the picture. Finally, our basement has a step down area. By removing the laminate, it exposed a gap in my baseboard. I would have hoped that the installers would have asked us how to proceed, rather than just ignoring it and proceeding. So now I have more imperfections due to the carpet installation. At the end of the day, the carpet was mostly installed as we requested. Just wished that the communication would have been better. Now I am stuck with imperfections in my basement. The ironic part is, the leftover roll of carpet they provided me would have been enough to cover the area they failed to install.
