    Friendly staff who accommodated my request to change vehicles with no issue. Check in was a quick as a car rental can be.

He went through the normal checklist which reminded me that I had forgotten to prefill the gas tank. GRRRRR! Apollo was very sympathetic. He worked with me as he knew that my company had a policy of not pre-paying for overpriced gas. He adjusted the gas rate to a normal rate of $1.56 instead of the four dollar plus rate that is posted on the signs in the check-in area. The drop off/ check-out process took less than two minutes. I was on my way, had my receipt and was thankful that they worked with me on my forgetfulness. It really is the little things that make business travel not as stressful. When contacted Jay, the "supervisor" stated they had video evidence of cigarette ash, a cigarette and an odor of cigarette smoke. I DO NOT SMOKE. He refused to admit this was false. I escalated it to their corporate who said she'd call me back once she got the information. Never heard back. My manager also reached out and last we heard the corporate lady was requesting the video. That was a week ago, never heard back. They also will not answer our calls after that request. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the response I got NOW claims I was not the one who returned the car.. the desk isn't open at 5:30 in the morning and I returned it to the lot attendant. They also NOW claim there was a marijuana odor which is why they charged me for smoking. Where's the video evidence that JAY was so adamant about? Why can't they provide it? Why didn't ALEX the manager reach out like she was supposed to? The reason? They're slimy snakes taking advantage of their customers. Avoid this location unless you enjoy donating to their employees internal welfare program. Dirty, lying scammers. Zero integrity.

I'm not too fond of these small airport National locations where you have to go to a desk (something else I absolutely hate) and check in and finish the transaction where they give you a key and ask if you're OK with the vehicle they selected. On this visit, the vehicle they offered was nice, it was an Audi. But the last time I used a counter like this (at a different airport, nearby) I got a vehicle I never would have chosen from the Emerald Isle, so this doesn't always work well. My gripe on this visit was when I got to the counter to get a car, there were three ladies working and one of them was helping a customer. The other two were typing on the computer in front of them. I had to wait for the one helping a customer to finish and then she took me. Immediately after, another customer walks up and one of the other ladies stopped what she was doing and took him. She also recognized his Executive Elite status... I'm Executive Elite too, but no one said anything about that to me? (this goes towards inconsistent management which means poor training and management) Ultimately, I got my car and left. When I returned, there was no one outside to check me in. I saw a sign that said take the keys inside and remember what spot you parked in - This is a horrible way to check in cars! So, I did just that. Got to the same counter inside where I checked the car out two days prior and there were the same three ladies working the counter. I stood there and waited while 2 were on the phone. After waiting a few mins and none of them looking up to see me standing there, I interrupted what they were doing to ask what I was supposed to do. One commented that some guy was supposed to be outside to check me in, but clearly he wasn't. She took my keys and said they'd send the email. I stressed the elaborate review to say this is quite the opposite of what makes National so great with the Emerald Isle at larger airports. They could very easily do the same style here or at least offer much better customer service than they do. I wish they would because selecting National at these smaller airports is no different, nor better than simply going with Avis or Budget.

I arrived and the vehicle was not there. Instead of making good on the failure with an upgrade they only offered lesser vehicles than what I had prepaid for. I was renting a car because my elderly parents had been in a car accident and had been in a car accident. They were in the hospital and needless to say my plans were up in the air. My original plans were to fly out of charlotte, but my stay was extended and I ended up leaving out of Greenville, where I picked up the car. I notified reservations TWO DAYS before I left. Plenty of time to adjust any logistics on their end. They insisted on charging me a $71 change of reservation fee even when I told them I was upset and going to be speaking with their customer service and posting a review online. Obviously customer service is not something that Avis is concerned about.

I specifically chose that vehicle for accessibility purposes. My father is 97 and uses a walker. I am 73. After about a half-hour wait at the counter, Avis gave us a low-riding Kia (see image) instead of the reserved SUV (see image). We had to deal with that klutzy vehicle for an entire week! Now, two separate Avis agents refuse to address the issue. They're throwing it off onto Expedia. Something to keep in mind if you decide to book an SUV from Avis in Greenville. Vernon Williams
