I reserved a luxury option car last September for this recent visit to GSP to be available for pick up at 4:00pm, upon arrival to the kiosk I was informed that the car I reserved was being held by the manager for another client, I was also informed that there were no vehicles available. There were lines of customers around me being told the same story, I was only helped after escalating the situation after waiting almost 2 hours and was able to secure a KIA SUV to get me on my way. This started massive conflict not only with customers around me, but also arguments within your service staff, a very uncomfortable situation for everyone. Upon finding the vehicle, it was covered in a sticky solution like it had been washed with a can of soda and the interior was not much better. The inside had footprints on the seats, grass on the carpet and the dash and controls were also sticky, visibility through the windshield was limited as it looked like a toddler was let loose in the vehicle with a leaking sippy cup and a runny nose! I am grateful that I was able to secure a vehicle, but reserved a luxury car for this trip for a specific purpose and a KIA SUV was not the ideal choice. This and I was forced to spend $30 at a local car wash to have the vehicle cleaned inside and out to make it driveable. I understand this is the holiday season, but I expect to get what I pay for, especially when reserved that far in advance. I feel I was cheated, let down and way overcharged for what I received. Very disappointed and unacceptable, I will definitely be looking at other options for my next trip. On a side not, the service agent helping me had the personality of a pet rock and was not able to move much faster that frozen molasses pouring from a glass bottle, there has to be a way to make this process more efficient as I can't say I have ever seen anything like it. Worst experience EVER! The totally stoned employee offered us a Ford Escape after we had confirmed a Navigator for 3days for $850 and offered us a $50 discount. Best he could do, not is fault. WE could call customer service and see if they would offer more than $50 but it really wasn't his problem. NO WAY 6 adults can fit in a Ford Fusion but it's that or NOTHING. All I can say is when had a vehicle with expired tags, we didn't know until we were half way through the rental and not near by. When we let them know, the response was very cavalier and basically they didn't care. Please check your car tags before renting them out. read more

Customer service, product availability, and representative product knowledge were the utmost worst. No clue of vehicle availability, inventory of child safety seats were unaccounted for, and overall cleaning standard of vehicle return were dismal at best. I am a very disappointed Budget customer. On Tuesday, October 15, 2024, I arrived at the Greenville-Spartanburg airport on time at 12:30 PM reservation and walked to the Budget counter expecting to have a FASTBREAK experience getting my car. This is nowhere near the customer experience I had. When I got to the counter I was told there were no cars available and I could be placed on a waitlist for when a car might be available as car drop-offs occurred. I was told that I might have to wait for two and a half hours, but there would be no guarantee a car would be available before or after that time. Words cannot express how disappointing it is to have a reservation, not be alerted there may be an issue with my reservation, and be told I maybe could get a car in two and a half hours...maybe. I had a wedding rehearsal dinner that I was supposed to attend at 5:30 that I was not not be able to make because Budget failed to satisfy it's obligation to fulfill my reservation. I am a long term, loyal Budget customer, and have never had this type of experience. The gentleman before me at the rental counter shared that this has happened three times at the Greenville Spartanburg airport. Oddly...I received a text reminder the day before my reservation. If there was going to be an issue, I would have expected and e-mail or text letting me know. Too disappointed for words. read more

We arrived on 10/26 at the airport to pick up our reservation at 6:30 on a Saturday night. Upon arrival, the clerk behind the desk was disinterested in even waiting on us but that was the least of our problems we would soon find out. He informed us that there were no cars available- zero!! I asked how that could be and he just shrugged his shoulders. He offered no help at all. We asked what about upstairs at their sister company and he said he had no idea but that we could go ask- spoiler alert- they had no cars either. They suggested that we go on a waiting list and if anything came back that night we would be able to rent that instead. There was nothing due back and no guarantee though. While standing in the lobby between Budget and Hertz, the car cleaner for Hertz asked what was wrong. Once he heard what was happening he told us to hang on and went to the clerk at Hertz. They were able to get us a rental, match the exact vehicle we asked for - a 4-door Jeep- and price-match our original rental in about 10 minutes!! I went back to the clerk at the Budget desk and asked how to cancel our reservation since they had no cars. He responded that he could do it if I wanted to cancel minus the $200 late cancellation fee. Otherwise I could call customer service. I asked for the number and he hunted around for a few minutes before saying he didn't have it. Like really? I googled it and called myself. I will say that the agent at the 800-number was amazing!! He was apologetic and quickly refunded my payment without charging a cancellation fee. Too bad the clerk inside could care less and it shows. Very dissapointed in Budget as we had been life long customers.....Now Hertz has my loyalty!! read more

I've used this budget over 20 times this year because they're the cheapest, but it's a coin flip if they have the car you order. About a quarter of the time the car isn't filled up or there's body damage that isn't on their records. read more

We rented a Honda HR-V from the Greenville Spartanburg Airport, and found everything to be excellent. The process was quick and easy, and the staff was warm, friendly, and helpful about the area and made wonderful suggestions for restaurants and attractions. Drop off was very fast and easy as well. The vehicle was clean and worked out perfectly for our needs, and got great gas mileage. read more

I had a very fine experience with renting a car from this location for a 24 hour period. The wait time was somewhat lengthy because they only had 1 worker behind the desk. The agent did speak over the phone and said something like "If she wouldn't mind, could she possibly come here to help?" Returning the car was very quick. It was early in the morning , so the Budget Car Rental was basically empty. The desk agent met me where I had parked the car. I would rent from Budget again. read more

Be sure to check out the interior of the car (I know the light is horrible in parking garages), before you leave. The dashboard and the seats were filthy in this car. My husband didn't want to stand in line again, but if I had seen it in daylight, I would have insisted. I don't think it had been cleaned in a long time. On the good side, the location rentals are all in the same place, just outside of this small airport in the parking garage. Easy walk and easy walk to get to the car. Only one guy working the desk at pick up and drop off. We told him that the needs maintenance light was on and that it was filthy and he didn't really respond. read more

I prepaid 16-days in advance for a vehicle. I paid on 9/1/23 for a RAV4 or similar vehicle. When I arrived to pick up the vehicle on 9/16 I am told by a very rude and frustrated employee there were no vehicles and I would have to wait at least an hour. No vehicles arrived, however after an hour the clerk said they had a car for me. Ironically, it was a car that had been parked on-site the entire time. It was a sedan, smaller than what I had reserved. It was unclean. Being that it was the end of day I needed a vehicle. I spoke with the clerk and reminded her that my prepaid was a bigger vehicle and cost more than the sedan. I asked her to credit me with the difference in vehicles since I was forced in taking a smaller car. At first she was reluctant. I pressed and she said I could only receive $30 off. I said the prepaid vehicle, which I am not getting, was much more the $30. She then said she would give me $50 and to take it or leave it. She refused to give me a receipt. Did not provide me a contract on the vehicle or a damage sheet. Nothing. I told here I must have a contract. She would only send me the original reservation I had made. No discounts, no contract revisions, nothing. I asked for her supervisor's name and contact information but was refused. In addition she had an argument with a coworker that resulted in this gentleman storming around the car bays, in front of customers, screaming and cussing nonstop and dropping many expletives about her and his disdain for her. Next day I called budget and a service rep guaranteed me my credit would be applied when I returned the sedan. When I returned the sedan the clerk on duty, Alysia, was told the story. She states this was unacceptable and assured me the credit would be applied. Well to-date, I have not received any credits to my charges. read more

Horrible experience. Reserved ahead of time for a vehicle however upon arrival they had no vehicles. Was told 15-20 minute wait. After half hour was told they had a car but after inputting all our information was told "Sorry this car is offline". Waited another half hour to get a car. Staff were in no rush to fix the situation as we were in a line of six people who had the same issue. And the car they gave us had Pre existing damage to it. Very accommodating have rented so far 3 times never no issues unlimited miles with no restrictions on what state you can drive too. The only thing I could complain about the car wasn't cleanest not that bad but no washer fluid so I could clean windows the other two times I rented car I did not have these issues read more

Car was fine. Staff at airport were good. I have a problem with Budgets billing system and the complaint system. I scheduled my rental for pick up at 10:30 am and to drop it off that night. At the time I picked it up the woman at the counter told me I had 24 hours to return it. I ended up keeping it overnight and returning it at 9:30. That is 23 hours. I didn't notice the mistake on the bill until later. They charged me $20 for returning it late. I called in to their number, which, after multiple questions, directs you to a customer service person. This was specifically a person to answer billing questions. The person agreed as to the timeline and that it was less than 24 hours but said I had returned it late so I incurred a fee. I pointed out that doing this meant that any person renting a car should always put a 24 hour return, or risk getting fined, so any benefit they might get from having a reasonable estimate of the return time would be lost. This was lost on him. I asked if they could return the fee. He said they could not. I asked to talk to a supervisor. After a 20 minute wait he got back on line, said that no one was picking up, and asked if I would prefer a call back from a manager. That is where the situation is currently. This is my first Budget experience. I travel for business and am required to rent a car to do so. I rent a car a few dozen times a year. I have at least 4 other options available to me. I certainly have no plans to rent at Budget again. I will do so only if the other options are exhausted. So....was it worth the $20? By the way...this makes Budget a thief, taking what they don't deserve and did not earn. read more

Terrible experience... the car was so smelly and the dashboard so damaged with some liquid... it is a shame to rent a car like that!! And the lady at the desk tells me it is in normal condition!! I am highly disappointed and some what heartbroken today I spent $435 to be humiliated, belittled and provoked. I have been renting cars with Budget for over a year steadily with business increasing by the week. I went to this location at noon today to renew my rental or start another. Instead, without warning as I was away making a call Allison the manager was supposed to be checking the miles instead she took it upon herself to return my car to stock and charge my credit card without confirming with me if I wanted to release the car or keep it. I was told to go rent from another Budget bc that car was gone and she isn't responsible for anything left inside the car(my medication is now missing). #Nasty #Rude #OutOfLine I was stuck at the airport all day! As I was there trying to figure out what to do Allison was on the job GOOGLING my name. I found out at the restroom as she was talking about me very loud to a competitors agent and encouraging her to GOOGLE ME TO. I was devastated beyond belief that as a professional, a manager and above all a woman of her she would do this. As I entered I clarified the holes in her story and she verbally attacked me and provoked to FIGHT! She came into my personal space and stated " you have a problem with it take that up with Google bc if you feel froggy jump" She antagonized me so badly I didn't even use the restroom I bc she really wanted to fight me. I am mentally disabled I'm not ashamed and over the past 3 years I've been in some really low places to where I felt no one was listening, no one could hear me or see me, all alone. I lost my job while on leave for medical reasons due to my disability. With the extra time it's therapeutic for me to help others that can't help themselves that's how I deal with my pain by trying to relieve others. It's a nonprofit project that I'm growing into an organization. I'm under a lot of stress I have muscle spasms and severe anxiety. I've been in tears all day due to uncontrollable crying spells bc of this situation. This is hurtful bc I'm not perfect nor do I want to be. I have and still am addressing my issues and part of that is through giving apart of me to the community. I took my shopping addiction (what I do when I'm stressed) and I buy stuff for others. The very thing she was highlighting in the bathroom as a negative is what DRIVES me daily to be a better person. Just bc I don't look like what I have been through/going through gives no one the right to try and humiliate me or bring me down bc of a chemical imbalance I try my best to control. Allison triggered my disorder today so I complained to the company they told me that was a personal issue between Allison and I offered me $40 towards my next rental with them and hung up the phone. #FiveStarsNever Allison is a very dangerous person how can I rent from a company that threaten my safety and triggered my mental illness. Not the best..not the worst. Desk clerk nice and efficient but computers and printers malfunctioned. Our car smelled like cigarette smoke once the spray perfume wore off in spite of being assured all cars were smoke free. We took the car because it was late at night, there was a long line of customers and only one clerk. BEWARE of overcharging. I was charged TWICE as much for my rental than I had signed up for online for my 15 hour rental. When going through all the questions about do you want this or that, the lady ended up signing me up for loss waiver without presenting me with any other option, like not having any supplementary insurance from budget, which is what I had wanted. Being in a rush, I signed the electronic pad approving everything with it saying the same amount as my rental charge. Upon return, I was told I would be charged that amount in addition to what I had originally paid. She also told me that people work on commission so, you have to be careful with what they sign you up for and that I could call the main office so they could help me. When I called the main office for help on the same day the guy seemed to have his lines memorized, and I was told since I had signed the pad I wouldn't be refunded for what was unfairly charged....future renters, you have been warned! read more

I was extremely disappointed and will NEVER rent from Budget again. I made an online reservation with a quote of $50 for a one way rental to the ATL airport. What I did not notice w when I signed the paperwork at GSP was that a .40 cent a mile mileage fee was added to the cost. When I turned the car in I was charged $150, rather that $50. I am a Gold member with Hertz and as a flight attendant have discounts with many car rental companies. I NEVER RENT CARS WITH MILEAGE FEES. I would have paid the $10 extra Hertz was charging if I knew that Budget was going to scam me. I called corporate customer service and was promised a refund for the mileage, I have yet to see it, this was April 12th. I am a single mom with a very tight budget, I can't afford to pay Budget an extra $100 for NOTHING. I will and have advised EVERY FLIGHT ATTENDANT AND PILOT I KNOW TO NEVER RENT FROM BUDGET BECAUSE YOU WILL BE SCAMMED. read more
