Okay, let's forget that Buddy's Beer Barn is a beer emporium for just a second...BBB is still an El Paso establishment you MUST experience at least once. You can't miss this place, it's the only barn inside the city of El Paso. Red siding, white trim, good ol' fashioned barn. A good portion of my life was spent out in the country (not in EP obviously...is "out in the country" even a thing here?) and BBB strangely feels like my childhood. I can't tell you how many reutilized barn businesses I've been to in Wisconsin, but BBB would definitely fit right in. Outside of the beer explorer in me, my inner vintage hunter loves this place. One wall is lined with shirts from the 90's, sports memorabilia, pay phones, neon signs and other knick-knacks that captivate me (and my plastic) for hours. I wouldn't go as far as calling anything in here antique, but if you want retro that needs a little work, stop here. Because of all the cool do-dads I recommend parking outside of the barn and giving it a real once over, but if you're there on a mission and know exactly what you want, you can pull in through the back and drive through the barn. The owners are beyond friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I've chatted them up a time or two and I always leave feeling a little bit more beer savvy. Price wise these craft beers are a tad higher than say Walmart, but you have to keep in mind they don't have as big a buying power as a corporation that they can negotiate low-low prices and you're supporting an El Paso owned and operated business (buy local!). Also you can get quite a few brews here not available in other stores *cough*Strawberry Früli*cough*. Beyond being the casual drinker, I also love cooking with beer (tip: BBQ sauce made with beer is a game changer) so I've picked up some beers here that I wouldn't normally try. I think so far my favorite wacky beer has been a banana nut bread beer. Subtly banana-y and perfectly nutty. Great place to pass the time shooting the breeze with beer lovers, browsing the threads and picking out some interesting brews. read more

Buddy's Beer Barn is a bit over priced but they get a 5 out of 5 due to the experience by itself, location, barn looks and cool costumer service. You can park outside or drive in the barn with your vehicle and they bring your to go drinks to you. They have a large selection of beers. Buddy's Beer Barn is also a sort of thrift shop but I personally feel that is just for looks. If you are Military you can bring your name tape and it will be stapled to the wood frame around the barn. Good luck finding your name tape again once you do that. You must visit! They also got a whiskey walk in place. read more

Went there for drinks, hence the name "beer barn," but we showed up at 830pm on a Saturday night and they don't serve alcohol, only food. We were so disappointed, we just went home!! We will go back for food, but very disappointed they didn't have what they advised (drinks). read more

For a business that is calling itself a "Beer Barn" I expected there to be a decent variety of beers, there was not. I'm pretty sure the Circle K down the street had more options for drinks than Buddy's does. Not that it really matters because you can't drink any alcohol on the grounds with your food trucks meals anyway. This place is awesome. Never even heard of a beer barn (I guess they exist in FL?). The owner's really nice. He runs it 2 days of the week and the other days his nephew runs it. His nephew really knows his beer, ask him anything! They're both really good people. Come here and only here to buy your beer in EP! read more

Being a beer snob, and knowing from past visits to my new hometown of El Paso of the scarce beer choices, finding Buddy's was a quiet respite from the tasteless tornado of mass produced "Fizzy Yellow Beer", aka Bud/Coors/Miller. Not only was I thrilled by the vast selection of craft brews, Buddy also has an extensive selection of Stone Brews. But after getting a load of how expensive my normal beers were in El Paso once I found where to get them put me in sticker shock! So I bought a kegerator and Buddy supplied me with a keg of Fat Tire in 2 days flat for a reasonable price. Buddy even helped me heft it onto my cargo carrier, a very nice guy indeed. But this is where the good news ends. Buddy's is very expensive when it comes to the Stone beers, by over $2 per bottle, so I get them at Sun Harvest now. And while the Fat Tire was easy to get, once I got the Guinness parts to convert my kegerator, Buddy was not able to secure me a keg and was about $30 more than Albertson's. In a nutshell, Buddy has the selection and the smile, but you will pay for it. If I am jonesing for a Russian Imperial Stout or something I can't find elsewhere, I will whip out the cash and head over to the Beer Barn. read more

So after landing in El Paso I quickly decided to go to get some beer. I had looked at the guide book and saw "Buddy's Beer Barn". At first I thought it was just a store name and kinda passed it by; however, when I drove down the road and realized that it's actually a giant barn I had to go in. Best thing is, it's drive through... right through the middle of the barn! It's actually kind of an experience because of all the nostalgic beer paraphanalia and random do-dats they have there. The best part is that there isn't just one of these things, the barn is lined with them. When it comes to selection, Buddy's has a pretty wide one along with a bunch of imported micro-brews that they also carry. If you ask Buddy, he'll definately tell you what all of them taste like too! I was actually quite surprised how much he knew about tasting and the different beers. I guess he sampled a bunch for educational purposes. =) As for price, Buddy's got it down. It's pretty much the same as wal-mart, but you'll get better service, a better experience and YOU'LL GET TO DRIVE THROUGH A BARN TO GET BEER!!! read more

This place is amazing! Such a wide variety of beer for the aspiring beer nut! The owner and her son were very warm and welcoming. I would've given it a full five stars, but it was fairly pricy. ($36.00 for a make your own six pack?!) The beers were new and packed a lot of flavor though (and high proof) so I was satisfied. Definitely a must stop for hops hipsters. read more

While maybe a little pricey, the owner is so friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed coming here and so pleased with the beer I found. Lots of hard to find brews here and the owner is very willing to make recommendations. Honestly, doesn't feel too bad to pay an extra buck or two to get this kind of experience and service and keep this gem alive. Many times I have been frustrated at the lack of choices in grocery stores and liquor stores but this will be my new place when I need something new and exciting. read more

We live in New Mexico and there's no distributor for Dogfish Head beer in NM...and it's our favorite! Found Buddy's on a trip to El Paso and we will definitely be back next time we are in town! Nothing more convenient than drive thru beer! Doug and his wife are super nice people and they stock a great selection of craft beer. Best of all, this is the only craft beer place in town that will let you buy a single bottle or can instead of the whole six pack. An awesome place. read more
