Okay, let's forget that Buddy's Beer Barn is a beer emporium for just a second...BBB is still an El Paso establishment you MUST experience at least once. You can't miss this place, it's the only barn inside the city of El Paso. Red siding, white trim, good ol' fashioned barn. A good portion of my life was spent out in the country (not in EP obviously...is "out in the country" even a thing here?) and BBB strangely feels like my childhood. I can't tell you how many reutilized barn businesses I've been to in Wisconsin, but BBB would definitely fit right in. Outside of the beer explorer in me, my inner vintage hunter loves this place. One wall is lined with shirts from the 90's, sports memorabilia, pay phones, neon signs and other knick-knacks that captivate me (and my plastic) for hours. I wouldn't go as far as calling anything in here antique, but if you want retro that needs a little work, stop here. Because of all the cool do-dads I recommend parking outside of the barn and giving it a real once over, but if you're there on a mission and know exactly what you want, you can pull in through the back and drive through the barn. The owners are beyond friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I've chatted them up a time or two and I always leave feeling a little bit more beer savvy. Price wise these craft beers are a tad higher than say Walmart, but you have to keep in mind they don't have as big a buying power as a corporation that they can negotiate low-low prices and you're supporting an El Paso owned and operated business (buy local!). Also you can get quite a few brews here not available in other stores *cough*Strawberry Früli*cough*. Beyond being the casual drinker, I also love cooking with beer (tip: BBQ sauce made with beer is a game changer) so I've picked up some beers here that I wouldn't normally try. I think so far my favorite wacky beer has been a banana nut bread beer. Subtly banana-y and perfectly nutty. Great place to pass the time shooting the breeze with beer lovers, browsing the threads and picking out some interesting brews.

Buddy sighting. What a cool place. If you were/are in the military mail him your name tag and a nice note and he'll put your name on the wall.

Never thought we'd find our Yeti beer in El Paso but Buddy's came to our rescue! So glad to know that this place exists in El Paso!

Cool place for sure! The owner is super nice too. Lots of cool stuff to get. Mostly beer and liquor and no liquor sales on Sunday.

So how am I taking an assortment of six bottles with me on the plane? So- I am flying to Dallas to connect with my nephew two days before Turkey Day- I have not been to Dallas before and I want to check it out, so this is a great opportunity. We are driving from Dallas to my sister's in Mississippi the day before Thanksgiving so here is the plan: I order on line nothing I need and my Nephew will go pick it up at his local Specs- he will get exactly what I want and we will be good. I went with a guy pal today to my local Specs and I got a bottle of the dinner wine- the 50th anniversary Caymus- a smooth 2022 from Napa that's a true delight. So Cabernet is tricky- sometimes they can be so dry that you can't even drink them- but this is smooth, flavorful easy to drink and rated higher than other wines in its price point. Also on the menu is some Prosecco to start out with the anti-pasta- the one in the photo is my favorite! And what would a holiday meal be without an after dinner port? I picked up this 40 yr old vintage from Portugal and it was amazing! The staff at Specs were great and I was able to check out quickly and my friend gets military discount at Spec's which makes the discount even sweeter! We came back to the house and sampled the picks and I am really looking forward to this holiday!

Specs is a liquor store. A very very very large liquor store. They have about every beer and wine…read moreand spirit that you can imagine. A nicer place though, not like a barred window paint advertisement on the outside wall kinda thing. It's legit. They have a dry helpful staff and alllllll sorts of other stuff from snacks to dishes that go with your alcohol. They also have a deli, and a pretty large menu of sandwiches that they'll make for you and you can eat there at the small tables they have. I tried the French dip... Very good au jus. 10% military discount at all times and they often have wine samples or select spirits for smaller throughout the store. Not bad if you're out in Sunland Park area
