Stopped by to grab a plate at Greywolf Brewing. The ratings for this place are quite astounding which surprises me. The highlight was the staff who were very nice. The pulled pork is below average with no notable flavor and quite dry. The baked beans are Bush's Baked Beans...I know I've had them plenty of times. Any bbq restaurant or chain would be better. The business owner Matt reached out to me and gave us the opportunity to try and re review their food on a different day. I'm glad I gave this place another shot. I was disappointed by my experience last time and was definitely on the fence about giving it another try but this time around the customer service was significantly better. The workers were kind and the food was prepared quickly. It does appear that there were some changes (see below) to the macaroni and fries from the last visit [not sure if this is a change that will consistently occur] so it certainly seems like the establishment is continually striving to improve. The meats were very flavorful and tender. I definitely recommend the pulled pork. I'm thankful that Matt reached out and allowed us to see how his business has greatly improved in a few short weeks. I am wishing all the best to Buddy's and hope to see them continue to improve and achieve great success. Exceptional BBQ. It was our last day in Arrowhead and we were lookin for food. Tap house was closed, wine spot did not allow kids and the pizza joint had a crazy wait. So we ventured down to Lake Arrowhead Brewery and found Buddy's serving it up. As I was waiting for my food, multiple people came up and were raving to the guy behind the counter "So excited you guys are here!" "Been looking forward to this all week!" "That was amazing! Good work guys" All the comments made me even more anxious to get our food. I can definitely say the food did not disappoint. Everyone in our group really enjoyed their food. All I have to say is whoa. Got the pulled pork nachos and I almost cried... granted this is two weeks post cleanse. But still so good. We went back for more but unfortunately the pastrami left us wanting something more... juicy. It was uncut, just two small sheets of meat that was a little too dry. The husband and I have literally tried every barbecue spot on the mountain, and without any doubt, hands down, Buddy's Barbecue is by far the best on the mountain. We got the brisket, ribs, and the jalapeño creamed corn, and I would honestly eat my weight in that creamed corn if I could. The brisket was smoky and tender. And those ribs!!! HOOOO!!! I'm not normally a rib person (weird texture issues) BUT mah gawd, Buddy's ribs are absolutely spectacular and the bark on the ribs *chefs kiss*. Nice thick smoke ring, perfect consistency and moistness. My favorite thing with slow smoked brisket is the bark and the fatty pieces. If that fat melts in your mouth with that great smoky taste, you're doing something right. If the bark isnt tough and dry you're doing something right. Went up to Lake Arrowhead for a hike, a local buddy recommended Lake Arrowhead Brewery, turns out they craft the beer and have different food vendors come in for the day, luckily it was BBQ day. Buddy's BBQ got solid reviews as well as the brewery so we gave it a shot. My daughter did her under grad and graduate school at Baylor in Waco, so for 6 years my wife and I made many trips to Texas and Buddy's style of BBQ is Texas BBQ, so that means we have been to a LOT of bbq joints, some OK, some good and some great but pretty much all better than any BBQ joint in Southern California until Buddy's. I'm pretty sure for anyone who is a BBQ lover brisket is the Holy Grail but also the toughest to master, nothing is more disappointing but more common than dry brisket, but not Buddy's. We got the Belly Buster, 2 meats and 2 sides, we chose pulled pork and, hoping for the best, brisket, OMG VERY good BBQ, the pulled pork was smokey and moist with lots of burnt edges and the brisket was moist and juicy and very flavorful, to us it's in our top 3 best BBQ we've had including the many BBQ joints we tried in Texas, do your self a favor and give it a try, also the portions of meat are very generous, thanks Buddy's BBQ team, you finished off a great day and we have some leftovers for tomorrow!! read more
