The best vet I've ever taken my cat to! I've lived in New York, Connecticut and now South Carolina. Dr. Dickler and Dr. Fulper are amazing and have been the only vets who I've seen personally handle my spicy kitty with the utmost professionalism and love. It's hard to work with my cat Binx, as he is extremely fearful and aggressive at times. He is a young cat with stage 3 kidney disease and needs routine care, and he just had his first dental procedure which required the removal of 5 teeth. I've never been more sure that Binxs best interest is at heart and that I never have to worry about him when he is in the care of Buckwalter Veterinary. If I could give 10 stars, I would. An absolutely beautiful office with very nice people. I took my one year old sphynx in . He was urinating and vomiting blood. He was diagnosed with a UTI, given medications and discharged. Two days later, he dropped dead. I paid for a necropsy and he did have a UTI and a kidney infection (which is a complication). Very nice vet- she checked up on him and I did let her know he was only peeing a small amount. She did not identify this as a complication of his UTI and he died. Beautiful place with smiling faces but my 18 month old animal is now deceased related to Dr. Dickler missing signs of a complication. They got my $350 for the first visit and then I had to pay $450 for the necropsy. Their cremation with ashes was $350 which is a crazy high price. My pet would still be alive if they admitted him. Update : I met with the owner and the vet involved to express my concerns. The owner charged me $68.50 for the visit. I let him know that as a business owner, part of it is hearing the good and the bad. Not charging a grieving pet owner when they have concerns to express related to blood never being drawn. He was cold, short, and extremely cruel to me. He said he could tell this was "obviously all about the money" for me and refunded me the $68.50. It's not about the money - I wanted to bring up that blood should have been drawn and then the severity of his UTI would have been exposed. He said I needed to take personal responsibility for what happened. I would never say that to someone when his vet had the power , knowledge and tools to draw blood at her disposal and never even offered it. I don't care about the money, I care that my pet is dead. read more

Our dog recently ate something he should not have and became very ill very fast. Throwing up, falling down, and wheezing. We called our usual vet and were told they were booked and to try Charleston. We had not used Buckwalter Veterinary Clinic before, but I called anyways and was immediately met with kindness and understanding. Our dog was admitted right away and thankfully came home today and is on the mend. We were updated by the doctor and staff during the entire time. Facility was completely prepped for COVID - with curbside drop off and pickup. The cost was very reasonable as well. Very thorough, very upfront with information, and great customer service! I was recommended to this clinic by a friend of mine who has been bringing her pets here for years. She only will bring her fur babies here and I can see why! First off, I checked in at the front desk and was happily greeted by Liz who took copies of my baby's records and brought me into a room to meet with Dr. Iyer and his nurse. They both took the time to address all my problems and gave it to me straight, which I love. We had all of our vaccines updated and even got a nail trim! The staff were all wonderful and kind to me, I'm not sure what happened to those other people who left bad reviews, but it was a great day for me and Mimi! Like all pets that become part of the family, our little green cheek queen aka-Misty the t-Rex, was due her yearly checkup, wing and nail trim. Our appointment was on time, the examination room was clean and had no area where a small bird, or any animal for that matter could get hurt. You can tell a lot about the level of care based on how an examination room is kept. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful, including the front desk, nurses and of course Dr. Bink. The manner in which they handled Misty was caring and professional. Our appointment was not rushed, in fact Dr. Bink took the time to provide us a host of pointers on feeding, health and tips on best practices. You always can learn something new when you talk to someone who knows their stuff. Coming from NYC we were extremely happy to find a talented and caring vet so close to our home. Not a big fan! Recently took my cat for 4 ringworm baths at $47.50 per bath. Due to Covid, I wasn't able to go in so had to give them my credit card each day. When the series of baths were done, I was handed a stack of invoices for the baths, plus over $1000 in lab work that I never approved and was never told they were doing! If I could give "negative100%" review, I would! Beware and NEVER give them your credit card! One star, only because it won't post anything less! read more

We made the mistake of thinking "conveniently located" was a factor in deciding which vet to use. Initially, things were okay (not great, just okay), but when we started having serious problems with one of our animals, and given the runaround, we began to realize this was not the vet office for us. Things you should know: This is a 8 - 6 office. No weekend (Saturday) hours. It's only convenient if you don't work weekdays, during the day. The office is located in shopping center, in the middle of several other storefronts and has no designated parking. This is fine if you can pick up your animal and walk from the parking lot to the door. If you have a large dog, and it's July, and it's 100 degrees, you might not want to go here because you will have to walk your dog across hot pavement to get there. The waiting room is big enough to hold one Great Dane, and maybe 4 other "lap" animals. Put two medium size dogs in there that don't like each other and it gets interesting. *Edit: Waiting room size has been increased since I posted this, but still has parking / hot pavement issues. The reception staff seems like they don't want to be there. One of the female staff (Lynn or Liz - I can't remember her name) had an attitude every time we were in there. The young man working the desk made us stand and wait to check out one day while he scheduled a drug test (for himself) on the phone. The techs were AWESOME (the star in the rating is for them) they were caring, understanding, and gentle with our fur babies. They seemed genuinely affectionate to them all. They were the only reason we hung around for as long as we did. The final straw and why we left this office was after about a thousand dollars invested in care on one animal, we were told, by one of the doctors, "I can't help you." We were told we had to drive 4 hours get the problem fixed. If we had to go elsewhere to get the problem fixed why weren't we told that before we spent so much money on somebody attempting to fix it? Fortunately, a co-worker recommended another local vet who was able to resolve the problem within a week, in one visit, for half of what we spent at this place. We will NEVER go back to Buckwalter. read more

I was quoted $55 for an office visit for a first time customer. I was charged $65. I needed the dogs bordetellia and influenza also to kennel him in the near future. They suggested all these other things to do and I said no. They also suggested a teeth cleaning which I know he could use and that was $325. I did not agree to that yet. The dog weighs 72 pounds. At the end of the visit the total charge was $263.59 for his first time check up, two shots, heartwork check, ear check and ear medicine. This is a rip off and I told them that. I stopped at another vet and the teeth cleaning alone will be $60 less so only one visit to this vet and one rip off is enough. read more

Dr Iyer at BVC has been our vet for the last two years since we moved to Bluffton. He's the absolute best vet we've ever had and we've had pets for over 40 years. You can tell he truly loves animals the minute he walks into the room. My dog, Kody, is always trembling when we take him to any vet, but the minute Dr Iyer appears in the exam room Kody cools out completely. Dr Iyer gets right down on the floor at Kody's level and there is an instant connection. He is very thorough and asks a lot of questions to get a real understanding of any issues. I have complete faith in his abilities. Additionally, the office personnel are very helpful and warm and the enlarged facility allows plenty of space for all the four legged patients even if they're not too socialized. I'm so pleased to find him, now if I could just find a dentist I trust that much.... read more

My dog started acting funny and his normal vet wouldn't see him for whatever reason called Buckwalter and was told I could bring him in immediately and they'd get him taken care of. The staff and Doctor were amazing will definitely be switching vets! read more

We took our green winged macaw to DR. Bink Monday. I can not begin to say enough wonderful things. He was super caring for our feathered friend, listened to all of our concerns and addressed all of them. He even took the time to trim her nails. UPDATE 06/30/2017: We were turned away today on our second visit due to the first review I posted two weeks ago. I was immediately turned away by Liz, the front end receptionist for "posting a nasty review" and "unless I deleted the review," the vet refused to see my 6 month old Golden Retriever. I told her I was extremely careful about not using "he/she" or naming any specific vet in the review and the first review was based around how I felt as a pet owner. Liz responded by saying "the vets look out for each other here at the practice." I was then also told to take my puppy elsewhere and that they would gladly print out his records so I could take him to see a different doctor for his follow-up shots. Dr Dana, the vet my puppy saw on the first visit, did not even acknowledge us when we walked into the clinic while she was in the lobby and instead went straight to the back. None of the vets came to address the issue or attempted to see if anything could be resolved. I did not receive a call ahead of time telling me that they were going to cancel my appointment unless I deleted the review. Buckwalter Vet has also hidden my review on their Facebook page and I do not understand how a clinic with such poor customer service exists. Original post: 06/09/2017: I was referred to Buckwalter Veterinary Clinic by some friends who could not stop talking about how great the vets here are. We went for our first visit today and after telling the vet the reason why we were behind on shots, the vet continued to belittle me and lecture me about the importance of regular visits. Not only did it make me feel like I wasn't being listened to, the vet seemed to only care about product-pushing, selling me items I didn't need or ask for. After the first lecture, the vet began telling me I needed to neuter my puppy even after I told them I am planning to in the future, just not until he was much older. Again, it felt like I wasn't being listened to and my main concern for the vet visit in the first place, which was to get my puppy's last round of shots, was completely ignored. Then, I was told my puppy was being taken out of the room for a stool sample but when he was returned to me a while later, I was told he was given his shots as well. Without watching and seeing my puppy receive the shots, I do not and can not feel confident that he was actually given shots. I was charged for items I didn't need and when I called back to discuss how I felt, the front desk told me extremely abruptly "once something leaves the building we can't take that back." I can't help but feel extremely disappointed and taken advantage of. Unfortunately I will have to follow-up with his last round of shots at the clinic but I did request to see a different vet. I do hope the second experience will be better than the first. read more

I found marcus welby for my pets!!! "all four paws" is my new pet store. it is not as expansive to the local chain i left behind.. "especially for pets" outside of boston but they are great, knowledgeable and nice people.. Ronnie knows the person who started esp for pets.. she and her sister own and run this store.. I was in a month or so ago and somehow got talking about more holistic animal procedures and she asked if I had found a vet yet. I said I had a vet but they were a traditional one and I was hoping to find someone who combined the two practices.. she said "you need to see this guy" and today I did. he's young, maybe 42 if that and VERY cute. the woman in the waiting area said she takes all her pets to him and that i wouldn't be disappointed and i wasn't. Bailey has had this occasional strange cough and a possible ear infection. now I know his cough is similar to acid reflux from sleeping in the wrong position and vinegar and water daily in his ear for 2 weeks to treat that . Dr. Bink spent almost 15 minutes going over every inch of him and dictating terms and numbers to his assistant on her laptop. but worst of all.. he had acl surgery on his back right leg 18 months ago and now his left hind leg has been bothering him terribly.. i was prepared for another knee surgery. apparently he has very bad arthritis in that left leg. Dr. Bink's recommendation was to start at the most simple and least costly and work up as needed. Rest, mediform (sp), arnica, hypericum and slippery elm for the inflammation and discomfort for 2 weeks. he will see us again at no charge. if he is better, we will stop the mediform and keep on the other things. he felt the TPLO surgery is ineffective with that much arthritis and likely a needless expense and stress for the dog.. if surgery is the only option, he does something with monofilament line that was something my home surgeon mentioned before he did the TPLO procedure his manner with him and his hands on/touch was as gentle and as caring as my own.. I am thrilled!! read more

My husband and I love Dr. Iyer and all of the staff. We are always greeted by name...Tina and Ragnar...we feel welcome and cared for, whether calling into the office for advice or walking into the office. My dog is never nervous going as the staff makes it fun -- he helps himself to treats at the front desk (before and after his visit). Dr. Iyer, himself, calls us to go over test results and always returns our calls no matter what time or day. He's a god send. I can not say enough about the doctors and staff at Buckwalter Veterinary Clinic. Unfortunately, I met them under the worst of circumstances after my greyhound had been attacked by a pit bull. Though I had lived in the area for a while, I still regularly took him to his vet in Savannah. Due to the severity of his injuries, I had to get him somewhere quickly and the Savannah office recommended Buckwalter...Dr. Resetarits actually worked for both offices and was already super familiar with Ringo. They saw us immediately, spent hours treating his injuries, and provided constant feedback on his progress. He ended up passing two mornings later, and they allowed me time to sit with him and even sent me a card and flower arrangement afterwards. Since then, I have taken in two smaller pooches and they both have only been to Buckwalter. They had expanded the office since that first visit. EVERYONE there has been exceptional. The front desk can be busy, but I have never waited more than a few minutes and they are always super friendly. The techs are amazing and are beyond caring and patient with both dogs...even my little, squirrelly maniac. Drs. Iyer and Resetarits have been awesome. Both always call a day or two after every appointment to check on them and/or provide test results, no matter how minor the reason for the visit. Both have sat and taken enough time to fully explain things to me, though I know they have many patients waiting on them. I can't say enough about Buckwalter Veterinary Clinic! Everyone is exceptionally warm, caring and courteous, from the doctors to everyone on the staff. Although I have only seen Dr. Binc and Dr. Dana a few times, I've seen Dr. Daniel Iyer many, many times. All three doctors are kind and loving with my two Scotties, but Dr. Iyer has been "our" vet for the past five years, and my "girls" and I think the world of him! He is a lovely man, very kind and gentle, who relates exceptionally well to both his patients and their owners. More importantly, he is a very thorough doctor who has helped me manage the health care of my dogs with competence and compassion. I've never, ever felt rushed when in his presence and he patiently listens to all my questions and answers them completely. He is sweet and gentle with my dogs and his concern over their care, and how they're faring after their visits, is manifested by his phone calls the next day to check on them. He also encourages me to phone him any time I need clarification about the girls' treatment plans. When I do call the office with questions, or if I want to book a last minute appointment because of a new health concern, the office staff have always done their best to answer my questions or find me an appointment time promptly. If they don't know the answer to my questions or I request to talk with Dr. Iyer, they pass along the message and I receive a phone call that day. I have never had anything but a positive experience with Dr. Daniel Iyer and have complete confidence in him. He is a gem! I just moved in the area and had an appointment today with my cocker spaniel. I was 15 minutes late according to them because they had me scheduled for 1115 and I had 1130. They sent me a text that I could not even reschedule. I walked in at 11:30 and told them I was here for my appointment and one of the 3 girls said I sent you text and that I had missed my appointment. She said I'll ask the doctor what he wants to do. The doctor sent her back out to turn me away and said they could recommend other vets. I said you mean I can't reschedule. The three front girls were rude and snotty and said I'm sorry! I'm 60 years old and I have never been treated this way. It was a mistake on my part but they had no professional right to act that way. Shame on this doctor for giving his front people the job of telling me to find another vet! I also don't want a doctor this curt and rigid to take care of my precious dog.
