Your not standing in the sun waiting for a snow ball, it's air conditioning, snowballs, snacks and treats to pile up on. Don't expect customer service lol they are some good ole gals from around the way. This is made up for with the Snowballs, iykyk finding a stand that gives you good soft ice, not too sweet syrup, and no dirty water after taste is a dime a dozen. Oh yeah no explosion of the stomach lining, or soar throat from the dirty ice either. They check off all the marks including price. Your not gonna find a 10.00 cup here. This place NEVER FAILS TO SATISFY my snow ball fix!!! I'm a classic kind of gal so I order strawberry most often, but occasionally I will order the rainbow, peach, and tiger's blood. All of these and more are worth trying. The ice is super smooth and the prices are decent as well. They also have a pretty good-sized menu with options such as nachos, hit dogs, and fries, etc. The only thing I don't like about this place is that they're not open year round!!! read more

This was my first time trying Buck's because it is always crowded. I usually go to Herbert's (the stand right in front). This afternoon, there was no line. All I require in a sno-ball is soft ice; and they delivered! I paid $2 for an 8oz wedding cake with condensed milk. Ice was not crunchy and the milk made it very creamy. There are many flavors to choose from and they also sell food, shakes, and sundaes. They only take cash. read more

Snowballs are delicious and consistent but the service time is RIDICULOUS. No way you should have a drive through and walk up and the wait is over 40 minutes. They really need to improve their process when it comes to serving. read more

The snowballs are good but the service is so slow. They let the line get as long as to the door, practically going out the door. They take every order at once so everyone is waiting at the same time. They need to reconsider writing the orders on the cups because they can't keep track of the receipts and it takes longer to make the items. This new system is slowing everything down and they need to have better communication with each other. One girl constantly stops whatever she's doing to look at her Apple Watch. In the whole time she was making one snowball she stopped and looked at her watch 5-6 times. If it's going to be a distraction then she shouldn't be wearing it. Yesterday, I ordered a banana split. When I finally received it, it was almost completely melted. It was basically a malt. When I questioned the girl as to how long it had been sitting, she was very dismissive. I didn't ask for it to be remade, so the attitude was not necessary. But I wanted her to see it was in fact MELTED, and maybe take corrective action so others can have a better experience. I still love Buck's, but I know I won't be ordering any more banana splits from them. And I'll make sure to check how many people are actually off to the side waiting before I place an order to prevent getting melted products or experiencing longer than anticipated wait times. read more

Found this gem on yelp. Note it closes for the season Nov 3rd. We got snow cones of course and they were amazing very heavy handed with the syrup which was nice the kids loved it. I got the diet wedding cake and it was delish. We also tried the crawfish sausage and potato and cheese... the potatoes were great with a spicy kick and also this is cash only. read more

So close to my house and they also serve through drive through! My favorite was the pink lemonade and they have yummy one dollar hotdogs as well! If you're into more snack like stuff I recommend getting their Cheetos dripped with oozy cheesee! And they also only take cash! read more

One of my favorite snoball stands on the westbank. They have a variety of flavors to choose from and even serve snacks like nachos and boudin. They even have a convenient drive thru when you don't want the step out of your car. They have some seating outside when you want to enjoy your snoball in the shade. The stand is always packed with people but it's worth the wait. My favorite flavor is polar punch and their nachos are pretty good. The staff is pretty nice and they work fast even when it's busy. I'm an east banker through and through but I actually have a job on the Westbank and someone recommended that we get bucks for lunch one day. I had never heard of it but I said sure. I'm always leery when I order nachos from snowball stands because not all snowball stand cheese is made the same. I also declared myself to be the nacho connoisseur so I'm pretty picky about which snowball stands I trust! My co-worker went to bucks and brought it all back to us and I was so shocked and impressed to see they put lids on their snowballs when you're picking up for multiple people! I love that so much because it always the worst when someone brings you a snowball that's leaking everywhere because they couldn't suck the juice out for you lol. The nachos were so good too!!! The nachos were bomb & I got a large rainbow snowball ,which you can make any flavor you want, and added cream and wedding cake the top was kinda hard like shaved ice but the middle was perfection just like I like em! Located in the far back of a parking lot, Buck's serves a little bit of everything: ice cream, malts, nachos and, of course, snowballs. I decided to get my usual rainbow and the first thing I liked is that it was an actual rainbow and not just a pile of different colors that eventually turned brown. The ice was made with one of those snow wizard machines, so it was really velvety and fine. They were generous with the syrup and this was the perfect treat for a warm evening. Aside from the snoballs, they also have soft-served ice cream with different toppings to your choosing, as well as blue bell ice cream. They also serve your traditional food items such as nachos, hot dogs, pickles and even crawfish or pork boudin! This place has definitely grown over the years which now hosts a drive through lane if you don't feel like getting out of your car which is a big plus. This place can get pretty busy, so wait times can be up to about 10-15 minutes for both window or drive through. This place is not hard to find, but don't mistaken this place for the little snoball stand that sits right in front of Buck's. These are THE BEST snoballs ever. I grew up on these. The shakes and malts are fantastic! Nectar cream is the most delicious. I get that stuffed with condensed milk. The nachos are great, some other snoball stands nacho cheese tastes funny but theirs is awesome. Now I'm due for a trip just writing this review. I'm so happy that I now can let my kids experience how awesome this place is. I have fond memories riding bikes with my friends to Westwego Park when I was a teen and getting ice cream flavored snoballs with a pickle and sitting on nearby bleachers to enjoy them. I AM ADDICTED TO BUCK'S as everyone else - My PINK LADIES are DIVINE!!! However I hesitate to say I wish they would be more consistent on putting enough juice in the MED-LGE sizes. I always have to ask for more juice. Sadly though, one of the older daughters of the owner attitude sucks when I ask if she's at the window. But I don't care bc I SIT IN A 23-27MINS LONG LINE TO GET MY FAVORITE SWEET TREAT!!! Ive been going to this snowball stand since I was a small child. My parents would bring my sisters and I to get snowballs, hotdogs and nachos here almost every other day. I have so many childhood memories of visiting this place with my family. One memory that we will never forget is when my sister and I along with two friends decided to go on a long walk around Westwego, like old days when children played outside. Anyways, we walked so much one this particular day that we were visibly tired and exhausted. We decided to stop at the snowball stand to ask for a cup of water. We didn't think it would be a big deal since we were loyal customers and kids. Back in those days the snowball stand use to be in a more deserted area in Westwego. There weren't any stores or other snowball stands nearby. Again, we were young thirsty kids with no money at the time. We were all dehydrated and just needed a small cup of water. I remember asking for a cup of water and being denied! My family unknowingly still patronized this place for years. We know better now! The quality of snowballs and other food has not been great. Also, I have never seen them support the black community even though the location is in a community that is majority black and their customers are majority black. I have never seen a black employee within the years I have been visiting this snowball stand. read more

The BEST snowballs around. They have a wide variety of flavors and they all taste great (at least the ones I've tried). The ice is soft and wonderful. They have other food that is also randomly good (boiled potatoes with or without cheese is DELICIOUS! And their nachos are good too!!)! They also have a drive-thru which also makes me happy!! My only complaint is that the line is always long. They move fast but there's usually a wait, but that's because they're so popular, so not their fault. Stopped by today because we were craving snowballs. It was storming so we weren't about to get out the car and thank god there is an awesome drive thru!! There's a menu that has things other than snowballs, but right by the ordering window (perfectly covered) where you pull up is a menu with all snowball flavors and toppings. There's quite a number of flavors! I like how much variety they have even for the "diet" flavors. The lady that took our order was very accommodating and we got our sweet treats in no time. There was a steady amount of cars behind us as well. The cup sizes are huge & everything is very reasonably priced. Friend and I got large (be aware it is a lot since they fill it nicely). I got half yellow cake batter/half strawberry with condensed. Friend got half blueberry cheesecake/ half orchid vanilla with condensed. He said it was too sweet which is understandable. Get a small size and skip the condense. Mine was pretty perfect. The strawberry tartness balanced the cake batter sweetness. Again, it only cost like $7 which is cheap for such a huge cup.
