Got the pandan and Thai iced tea flavors with condensed milk - soooo good. It tasted just like the…read morereal thing (ok maybe the pandan flavor was a little muted). But I think they used real Thai iced tea leaves to make it cuz there were little flakes that none of the other flavors had. My bf got satsuma and passion fruit. That was so tropical and citrus-y yum. And then I tried his sister's strawberry shortcake which tasted like the strawberry shortcake ice cream - delicious. The watermelon flavor also tasted just like watermelon. I loved how all the flavors didn't taste artificial at all. There's a line but it went pretty fast. You can see a lot of the photos inside from the 1950s to now - felt very old school.

You can not go to New Orleans without trying Hansens at least once. If you are local, its a really nice place to visit the evening of a hot day. I have tried the root beer, chocolate, cream of coconut, strawberry and spearmint. All have been tasty. For about $8-10 you can get a snow ball with a pineapple and cherry. For about $12-13 you can get marshmallow on top and I highly recommend this for the experience. Its typically a longer line but its part of the experience. When you go inside, its like a blast from the past. You are gonna have syrup all over the souvenir cup and all. They have many choices to choose from.

Another snowball season is upon us, so once again my boyfriend and I are sampling as many Westbank…read moresnowball stands as we can. Why should the Eastbank have all the fun? We started this journey last year and, now that the stands are open again, we wasted no time exploring what the Westbank has to offer. D suggested this little stand in Belle Chasse that I didn't even know existed. Apparently it's located right next door to the famed Big Jake's sandwich shop, which is super convenient if you're in the mood for something sweet after enjoying your Big Jake burger. This stand is cash only and has a pretty diverse menu. I got a rainbow snowball (my fave) and D got a king cake snowball. Right away I knew we had a problem: the ice was chunky and this snowball was seriously lacking syrup- you can even see it in my picture. However, I didn't think that my snowball was all that bad, even though it did start to lose flavor towards the end. D didn't even finish his and said that it tasted nothing like king cake. Meh. There's some picnic tables under a covered porch for sitting on warmer days. While I wouldn't skip this stand if I was in the area, it wouldn't be my first pick for a snowball.
