We're staying here May 6-June 17th. Nice park. Quiet. Location is great. Lots of space at each camp site. A few nice trails to walk dogs on. No dog park. Security of being on the base. Commissary and Exchange. Not allot of planes flying over like other bases I've stayed at. Had a minor misunderstanding when we arrived. Our camp host came by to greet us. We signed in at the Outdoor Rec Center the next morning. Three days later we get a call asking if we are still coming. We got it all cleared up. The laundry room is free. But only 2 washers and 2 dryers. That's okay except the washers don't work half the time. We wound up finding a laundry mat to do our laundry in most of the time. ***Just last week all 4 happen to be working at the same time. I was finishing my laundry when a pregnant lady with 5 kids came in to do her laundry. Her oldest daughter was very chatty and told me they didn't live here they just come here to do laundry. Camp host is mommy's friend and let's us come here. Rules state only RVers. There clearly isn't enough washers for outsiders to come in and do their laundry too. I never used the shower/restroom area. The grass around park needs to be cut. It's like 10 inches tall. (See photos of my dog standing in it) There doesn't seem to be a set schedule. They cut it whenever. Not sure what's going on with RV next to us. I think it's abandoned. Really makes park look bad with the couch and sofa just sitting there. sofa has been there a long time. You can see where sun has bleached it. We've been here over 4 weeks and it's been just sitting there. Water is constantly spraying and keeping it wet under (See photos) No fault of the park but I have to mention the moths. We catch a dozen a day in our RV. Guess it's the biggest complaint in the park. It's a nice campground. However I would probably stay somewhere else if I were in the area again. The park really needs better management. The outdoor Rec center needs to take more charge. Great for families with kids. But there isn't a play area.

This is a great open campground to spend a few nights or long term. I love the fact there are so many pull throughs. Between Outdoor Rec Kaitlin and the camp host Dean and Liz our stay was excellent. I utilized this site to get my camper road ready. Full hook up, restroom/showers/Landry, and a commissary/PX on site. What more could you ask for? I would say this an excellent stop if you're passing through from I-70. Defiantly a great stop to rest before tackling Denver.

Nice bunch of pull thru sites, with nice separation between each site. There are too many parks that jamb you together like sardines... this isn't one of those. The other reviewer wants you to enter the site from the wrong side... your electric, water and sewer will only be on the correct side if you enter the sites in the direction the camp directs as all roads are one way. The noise from jets usually only occurs in the morning after about 9am so it shouldn't really bother anyone unless you are sleeping in... This is one of the few parks where you have a cement pad, and patio with a picnic table and a BBQ grill. Since there aren't any trees, the wind is sometimes a little stout, but it isn't bad usually. Just don't leave your patio awning out if you leave, it is possible you'd come back to a twisted mess. While we've been here, it's been nice and quiet and the neighbors have all been friendly and respectful. There is a little problem here that bothers me some, namely the dogs. I don't own a dog, and don't want one and I want my neighbors to follow the normal rules about their dogs, always on a leash and never left outside alone... and minimal barking. I'm a full time RV'er that likes peace and quiet and a lot of noise from kids and dogs is not my favorite thing. The camp hostess stopped by and said hi the day we got here and pointed out her RV and told us to let her know if we needed anything. I'm glad someone is here full time to look after the camp. Several other nice things about this camp, the Laundry is FREE and for a $50 refundable deposit they will give you a Verizon MyFi with FREE unlimited data, so you can stream movies along with just browsing the internet. I'm here to tell you that Amazon Prime movies and Netflix stream just fine and without issue. Wow... never been to a park that did that. There is a good BX and Commissary but no diesel fuel on base. Both the BX and Commissary are a nice size and well stocked. Everyone is friendly and helpful. There is also a great jogging & bike path available. I will stay here any time I'm passing thru this area.

I was so nervous walking in, but from the moment we arrived, every single staff member made us feel welcomed, safe, and supported. Our guide, Koa, was the perfect balance of fun, kind, and incredibly skilled. He guided us through the rapids with such confidence and ease while also making sure everyone felt safe and included. He checked in on us several times throughout and made sure we were having fun, asked us if we wanted to "spice it up" a bit or keep it mellow and just really let us know this was "our" trip and he's cater to what we wanted. I quickly found myself letting go of fear and enjoying the moment... something I didn't expect would happen. Koa's energy was contagious, and his calm, respectful nature made us feel like we were in the best hands possible. At one point on the river, another rafting company had a mishap and we had to pull over and wait for them to recover and get their riders back into the raft safely. Koa explained what had happened with total grace - no judgment, no gossip - just a calm and respectful explanation. He also spoke so kindly of his own coworkers and even the owner of Liquid Descent. You could tell he genuinely cares about the rafting community and takes pride in his work and LOVES his Liquid Descent family! Every employee we encountered was friendly, encouraging, and helpful - from getting us fitted with helmets and life jackets to cheering us on as we headed out. As someone who started out nervous, that kind of supportive vibe made a huge difference. They encouraged me, and they helped me push past my comfort zone in the best way possible. What a GREAT memory! We will remember this day not only for the thrill of the rapids, but for the kindness and heart of the people who guided us through it! If you are considering rafting in Colorado, go with Liquid Descent. I'm so glad we did!

The best part is that it has FREE Admission!! I parked out in the lot just off E. Alameda Pkwy near the front of the Aurora Municipal Center. I was kind of stumped as to where to enter the museum. I walked past the cool sculpture called "Light Of Dawn" by Rafe Ropek. If you keep walking on that sidewalk, you will find the entrance is at the far end of the building right near the gate/fence. I really wanted to see the 1913 Street Car Trolley! It is in a room all by itself. It has been immaculately restored! I like the vintage ads inside! There's lots of information about transportation, too! You can learn how Aurora started out and grew! There was a Buckingham Square Mall that opened in 1971. It had two Palace Guard mascots named Buck and Ham. It was demolished in 2007. It was rebuilt into what is now Gardens On Havana shopping center. I was fascinated to learn that there in a Mission Viejo neighborhood in Aurora. It was modeled after the Mission Viejo in Orange County, CA! In the exhibit of "Growing Home Aurora", there's an extensive collection of memorabilia! I found out that Niagara Bottling, LLC has a plant in Aurora! I wandered through the "Mosaic of Cultures: Aurora's Mexican Community" area. For history's sake, I should have eaten at La Cueva. It is featured in this area. The founders of the restaurant immigrated to the U.S. in the 1950's. There's an exhibit called "Tatanka: The Spirit of the Land" that has lots of beautiful Bison paintings by Arturo Garcia. On my way out, I picked up A Guide to Aurora, too! It lists landmarks and historic sites with pictures. It was great to learn about Aurora!

It gets such a bad rep and is most well known for tragedies. I never knew there was such history about this city. The hit of the museum and a must see is the trolley. I wish Denver had kept the trolley running so it made it special like in San Francisco. What a wonderful piece of Colorado history at the museum. You can also walk and sit in the trolley as well. Happy 4th of July (2022)!! There's plenty of parking out front at Springhill Park. One spot is reserved for the Combat Wounded visitor. There's also a restroom at the far end of the parking lot where the entrance is. Not too far, but far enough away from there is a picnic area. As I got out of the car, I first noticed the Gold Star Families Memorial Monument. It consists of four pieces and between two pieces is a soldier saluting in the negative space. It is so cool! Civilians tend to forget that there are families surrounding the fallen soldiers who have to carry on without their loved ones. It's so fitting that this memorial also includes them. Then I surveyed the rest of the memorial and was awestruck. The glass wall with so many names etched on it. There are about 6,000 who've been killed in action since Colorado became a state! The last panel is facing a different direction and on that panel are the names of those Missing In Action. The slanted glass panels are quite striking. There's a narrow channel of water in front. From what I read online, the glass is to represent the Rocky Mountains. This memorial is specifically to honor those Coloradans who gave their lives. On site, there is a box with a binder with all the names (in alphabetical order) and the location where you can find them on the glass wall. There are flags from each branch of the US Military are flying on the flag poles! Since July 4th is almost here, there are American flags lining the walkway. To the left, in reddish stone, maybe marble or granite, are 8 columns. Each one has the name of a country where soldiers were lost and laid to rest... Belgium, England, France, Italy, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, The Philippines, and Tunisia. Some soil was taken from various soldiers' gravesites there and brought here. Thus the words "From Hallowed Ground To Home's Embrace". I appreciate the attention to detail and planning that went into creating this special place. Come take a moment to visit with gratitude for their sacrifice for our freedom because they were so brave.

The price was excellent for a three-hour tour. We were originally scheduled for a tour a few days later but rain was in the forecast so Tom let me and my husband switch to an earlier day. It was almost 100° out the day we had our tour, so we appreciated the frequent stops to make sure we were drinking enough water and staying hydrated. He brought a ton of water for each of us and was constantly asking if we needed more water. He also brought sunscreen. With all of our frequent stops our tour ran almost an hour late. That wasn't a problem because we didn't have anything else scheduled afterward, but we were starving because our tour started at 10:00 and ended at 2:00. I would rather have started the tour at 9:00 instead so we could have finished earlier. But I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see the Denver area. We came for the return of Camp Christmas as it is one of our favorite holiday traditions. There was a couple of fun installations to view as well as the walk through experience. We had fun but were a little disappointed this year as everything felt on much smaller scale than usual. More of a sprinkle of Christmas fun rather than the usual Christmas extravaganza we've come to know and love from Camp Christmas. Still fun but a bit underwhelming. We were also disappointed to see some of our favorites from years past missing like the scavenger hunt and music playlists for different times of day. Also a bit disappointed that they are charging the same price for adults and children in the walk through experience. Hope that next year Camp Christmas will be back in full form.
