I still live at Buckingham Condominium apartments and this is going to be my 10th year April 1st. The only 3 things I wish we had was a grilling area that isn't clear down the grassy area to the lower apartments instead of the center of the grassy area and a covered gazebo or an area to be able to have a covered picnic area. When I first moved here in 2016, we had bushes outside our apartment that really made it look so nice but previous owners had all those pulled up and I have yet to understand that and now it looks so drab and not as nice. There have been a few episodes of car vandalism in the last year but unfortunately this happens no matter where you go. The office staff have always been so nice with me and maintenance comes for repairs quickly. All in all, I have enjoyed my years here. read more

I lived here for 10 years. Buckingham is the best. These are townhouses. There's not someone living above you or below you. The value is amazing. They are indeed older, built in the 70s and 80s, depending on the building. But that's why you are paying $700 a month 2 bedroom 1 1/2 bath instead of $1300. There's no garden tub or marble counters. But it's nice and well kept, fresh paint and updated floors/carpet. They have maintenance 24/7. My experience was when something breaks, it's replaced or fixed within 24 hours. They are there. Pest control comes by on Thursdays, so you let the landlord know and they will be there. The lawn and landscaping are well kept. They have high standards. Quiet at 10pm and there is always a police officer living there. I felt safe. You have your own assigned parking place. It's just a nice place and the staff is wonderful. I enjoyed my time there. Then I bought a house. This is a great place for anyone starting out on their own with a budget or a small family. And last, the location is perfect. It's right in the middle of town, so you are within a mile of Kroger, Etown Swim & Fitness Center, Dollar General, pretty much everything! read more

Lived there a little over 2 years. I'd live in my car before I'd ever consider going back. The air conditioning in our unit was either too old or too small and nothing was done about it until right before we moved out. They came in with some special thermometer and said the numbers were right where they needed to be. Paying almost $200 just to keep the place marginally livable got real old real fast. Had a horrible bug problem, even with having the place sprayed a few times. You can go to a newer apartment for the price we had to pay for this piece of sh**. Always felt like they were looking for any way they could think of to get you to pay more. I will never recommend this place to anyone. After 8 years I am so glad to be out of this place. It has been on the decline for years and finally reached the point of being just above a slum. Once upon a time Buckingham was a great place. It had a pool, tennis, and basketball court. All those are gone. They cut the number of dumpsters available in half, so you now gave to carry trash farther. Maintenance? Barely existent. Problems get band-aided. I was even told by a maintenance guy they don't want to spend the money to "do it right" (this was after about the fifth time for the same shower problem). If you have a problem make sure you have it before 4-o-clock because that is their go home time and they don't want to pay overtime fixing things. Last summer when it was 100+ outside the AC died....we had to wait until the next day. Meanwhile I dehydrated to the point I passed out. About a year or two ago there were problems with brown recluses in some apartments.It was even on the local news because the problem was so bad. Management solution was to get rid of the extermination service. I have seen drug deals on the streets and booming music at all hours. Once someone was so loud it literally shook things on my walls as he drove by a 2 am. We had bats and squirrels in our ceiling. I had a squirrel get in once as well as a bat another time. I know that one neighbor in the building had at least one bat and another neighbor had three incidences if not more. Their idea of fixing it? Squirrel traps. What about all the poop and risk of Hantavirus? The last few months has been the worst. There was a leak somewhere going downstairs and it took several day to find it. The finally found it under the bathroom sink and fixed the leak....but left the mess. Included was a huge gathering of black mold. I guess we now know why I had had neurological issues and the wife had bronchitis that won't go away. I say had because we just because we just bought a home and all symptoms are gone. Anyway, we complained about the mess/mold and a fan was put on it to dry it out (as well as spread spores I suppose). A few days later linoleum was half assed but over the molded area. Plus there was still a leak from somewhere. Finally....the downstairs neighbor had heart failure and low oxygen and went to the hospital. We told his wife about the black mold....it seems he had the same issue I did with hand pains and headaches. The back porch is a deathtrap. It was built with untreated wood and nails. Before the summer was out things warped and pulled away. Of course if it warps too much they replace that one piece IF you complain. And for some reason the latest ad we saw about the place called it "luxurious living in the heart of Elizabethtown". If it is so great how come EVERYONE we talked to wants to leave so bad? Everyone HATES the place. And I may as well point out the place had poor insulation. How in the blue hell can 2 people in a 2 bedroom apartment have electric bill regularly $170--200 a month? Over the last few years there have been several crimes committed and vandalism and cars broken into. In fact someone stole something from my brother-in-laws truck as we were moving ( he must have done it during our lunch break) The rent goes up every year but what you get out of it goes down. I feel sorry for the people who have lived there years. I had one that lived there 20+ years. In conclusion, while I am sure there are worst apartment neighborhoods, they would also he a lot cheaper and more honest in their being crappy.
