I can't tell you how the food is because I never got my order. I called 20 to 30 minutes ahead of time to place my order. I told someone who identified herself as Kelsey what I wanted and that I was in route to the restaurant. She advised me it would be ready in 15 minutes. I get to the restaurant and the order is not made. They offered to make it, but I wasn't about to wait. This was my very FIRST visit to this establishment. Went a few weeks ago withe the critique work crew. Seated in middle section. Server was not on par. Says he works nights and did not know the menu well. Took away least 10 minutes for our waters and tea which was right next to out table. We ordered individual plates which 2 were not delivered correctly. Could not get a side dish of pasta which i wish was possible. Plates were ok, nothing special. Again, we should if ordered the combo plates as its harder to mess up. Check took over 10 minutes as well. It was nor busy. Maybe 6 tables. My co workers still tease me about picking the place that day. I don't think we'll be back. If you have bad service from a server off the bat, we will ask for another. read more

First time ever visiting this restaurant and I was a little put off about how you share your food. It comes in gigantic portions. I'm really weird about food guys. I don't really like to eat in front of people and I really don't like the idea of a community plate. So picking my food off a plate in the middle of the table where everyone is watching me pick up food makes me incredibly nervous. Like an invasion of privacy. It's weird. Seriously.. The quality of the food was decent. Not the best Italian food I've had, but this is a chain restaurant so it's what I expected. Seeing as you get portions big enough to feed anywhere from 2-6 people, the prices aren't bad. Would I have come here on my own. No. Will I come back? Buca di Beppo is one of the few chain restaurants that can feel like an original restaurant. Everything is served in ginormous family-style portions... which just brings me back to family dinners on Sundays in California. We went with a very large group, and were seated at the "Pope Table" in the Pope Room. They have a bunch of pictures on the wall of various popes, and a bust of the most recent pope in an acrylic display case in the middle of a large lazy susan on the table. We had great fun moving the pope's gaze around to point at various people in our party... something about seeing the Pope watching you eat... can be creepy, but a good time was had by all. Really its the best to experience Buca di Beppo when everyone shares their entrees... you get to try a bite or two of something you would have never ordered! I think its great. We ordered the classic fettuccine alfredo, and it is by far the best fettuccine alfredo I have had in years!! We also tried the stuffed shells, and the chicken parmesan... all that were fantastic. Very cool atmosphere and great food! Loved the pope on our large lazy Susan table. We had a large group and ordered several family dishes. Very good food and fed about 12 of us (with kids), couple big bottles of house wine, all for under $300 before tip. First of all, I wanted to surprise my husband for his bday because I have been to Buca over in Hawaii and they come and sing happy bday with a nice catchy song.The service was awful, they close at 11 and we arrived at 9 & they could seat us in a booth because they closed all sections but one and it was so loud...Not to mention the black hair I found in my baked ziti. Eh. The food is nothing special at all. Lunch was very bland from start to finish. I got the chicken rigatoni which was supposed to be spicy but had very little flavor and the chicken was not remotely fresh. The restaurant itself is dark and crowded with an odd layout. I had the pizza here and it wasn't as good as I expected it to be. They put some sort of blue cheese in it and not tasty at all. The Italian carbonara pasta I shared family style was mediocre. The alfredo cream sauce was very overpowering and I just didn't like how it settled in my stomach. Wish I hadn't of listened to what the waitress recommended. This is one of my favorite Italian restaurants! Too bad I don't live around here to go every weekend! I love the decor, it makes me feel as if I am in Italy again. Not one wall lacks decoration! It is a fun and friendly environment with great waiters and food! I came here yesterday for a friends birthday and it ran very smooth even with about 10 Family orders! The waiter came by every 5-10 minutes to check if anybody needed drinks or bread. The food came out very quickly and was DELICIOUS I ate some Lasagna and fettuccine Alfredo! They were amazing! Been here before, and usually a good place for a family/group dinner, but prices have gone up for several of the main entrees since our last visit, and food quality/preparation has gone down. Pasta was ok, but not great and not in line with higher prices. Maybe a chef or ownership change at this location. Good and friendly table service, but we got there at shift change and there was no one at front desk. Man. I hate this because a few years back I remember it being so much better. The whole idea for a family of 5 is a nightmare. $16 for a Caesar salad that will barely feed two adults. Then the rest of the menu. You can get a small meat dish but it does not come with pasta. So you have to spend $48 to get a meat dish with pasta that feeds three. The small spaghetti and meatball dish says it will feed three but only comes with two meatballs(larger but still only two). And the food wasn't that great. We had a sparkling water for two, three waters for the kids, a salad, a spaghetti and meatballs s for three, two Alfredo kids meals and a brownie sundae for $85. We were there last night to celebrate my daughters birthday. It was one of the worse experiences ever the service was awful. We had to ask to be seated even though we had reserved our time and once we were seated we had to ask for someone to serve us. We didn't get our drinks until our meals came which was almost one hour. Our salad came after the meal and the bread came after everything else. The manager didn't seem to care at all and her only response was let me give you a piece of cake. My son in law asked for a beer 3 times and he never got one. We asked for more napkins they never came. They pride themselves in celebrating birthday's and they never did do the birthday thing. We paid our bill and as we left she once again said how about that slice of cake. What a joke. We will NEVER go there again. They weren't even busy. I would hate to be there on a busy night. Awful service. Had reservations for 6 1/2 people. Had to wait 30 min to be seated. Then they seated at a table for 5 which was too small. Asked to have a table and they re-sat us a booth that was for 4. Obviously smaller! I spoke to the manager on the floor and he was not effective. We saw empty tables they he said were reserved. I mentioned to him that I too had a reservation and they should seat us. Service is very poor and we felt that they did not value us as customers. We left to eat at another restaurant. With such poor service I cannot imagine patronizing Buca in The Woodlands again. Additionally , The host was young and inexperienced. I received a coupon in the mail and decided to get something from curbside. We ordered the small 3 person dinner selection of the Baked Rigatoni and the Spicy Chicken Rigatoni. I got there within 15 minutes of placing the order, called the curbside number and our order was ready. Both items we ordered was delicious. The to go containers were both sturdy. I don't think there is much you could improve upon their execution of this restaurant concept. I love the atmosphere, and the food itself is delicious. It's served family style, so large groups are a great fit for this restaurant. The wait staff has good personality. I only wish it was closer to Rosenberg. Tonight was my birthday and I chose to go to this restaurant for the first time. I was incredibly disappointed with the service, I have worked in the restaurant industry myself and have never seen such a lack of care and interest for the people who would be tipping you. Our waiter Dane had no knowledge of virgin drinks, wine specials, or daily specials. This young man seemed to have rather us leave as quickly as possible than stay and purchase a lot of food and drinks. Unfortunately the manager was also not understanding and not helpful at all. We will not be coming back to this location. So sad to see that people like this get through training and treat their tables so poorly. read more

Worst experience ever! It was our daughter's first choice for her bday dinner. Our server, Dane, did not know the menu. He could not tell us the SOD, drink specials for non-alcohol options, could not elaborate on wine specials. His overall demeanor was one of non concern. I was forced to go to the bartender to order my daughter's birthday drink and pay $8 for a highball of cranberry juice. When arriving back to the table, I found my husband arguing about getting a small order of mashed potatoes for our baby grandson, where the MANAGER, acted like we where out of our minds. After asking the waiter to try and rectify the evening by comping a dessert or two for our horrible experience, the manager again acted as if we were insane. Our tab was nearing $140 where we enjoyed our food, but not the service! We would love to try another location, but will never be back in the Portofino Center. read more

Thought I'd pick up dinner on the way home. Stuffed pasta shells were filled with what looked like VOMIT...smelled like cat food and tasted horrendously off. The pasta shells themselves were dry and rubbery like they had been reheated several times in a microwave. Eggplant Parmesan was soggy, RAW and unpeeled. What happened to the mozzarella cheese and tomatoes that were supposed be on top?? Save your money and shop the frozen dinners at your local supermarket. They taste a lot better than the crap I attempted to feed my family from Buca !! My darling dog, Pumpkin, wouldn't eat it. She eats anything......so I thought. The prices do not justify the food quality or dining experience, by any measure. We met friends there a week ago and were treated at the door "what can I do for you"? Seriously? The temperature was ridiculously hot, which was unusual as the place is usually frigid. No one volunteered an explanation - we had to ask what the problem was. They said the A/C had gone out and they were working on it. After thinking about it, we wondered what else was effected by the "outage", as in refrigeration? The right thing to do would have been telling us at the door that they were having problems and NOT seat us. This would be the LAST time my family will visit this restaurant. read more

So they sent me a coupon in the mail for a free colossal brownie sundae and also $20 off $40, haven't had Italian in awhile and it sounded good and I wondered why we don't eat there. Until we got there and I saw the menu and quickly remembered. My family loves chicken Parmesan and we went there already having decided that's what we'd order family style. It should've worked out bc it was $40 for a lg pan of it and we had $20 off. Except that pan comes with nothing else. If you want just a piece of chicken then this is perfect for you. We would've liked a piece of chicken with at least some spaghetti. But that would've been another $40 for noodles and sauce. So, no thanks. We decided on a small spaghetti and meatballs, the small said it feeds 3 people. Well when it comes out, it's two meatballs. So, which 2 of our group of 3 wants to share a meatball? Nobody. Until we tasted it and it was the most flavorless ball of meat I've ever had and nobody ate their whole meatball. The absolute best part of the meal was the free colossal brownie sundae that they let us combine offers to get. That was worth going for, but absolutely nothing else was and I remember now why we don't eat there. Can't afford to if we want protein AND pasta and it's not good. No flavor. Wow what a great time we had. It was wonderful to see the manager walking around with a paint brush touching up the walls. We went for lunch and enjoy everything. Dessert was delicious, as well as the coffee. What a relief the coffee was hot and fresh, unlike so many other places. The Alfredo sauce set a new standard for me for creamy richness and the taste of Parmesan coming through. Interesting - Buca di Beppo called me back and left a message for me to call back and discuss their poor service. (Good sign of maybe a concern for customer service) I tried to call them back multiple times and they kept handing me off to other people to talk to. I went so far as to stop by and talk with a manager in person and they "were not available." So my original evaluation holds true: poor customer service, poor restaurant attention to detail. Every time I drive by I am amazed they are still in business. After a train wreck at Ransom's Steakhouse in Montgomery TX, our next meal out was a Father's Day lunch at Buca di Beppo. Our party of 11 was seated promptly in a quiet corner in this charming Italian restaurant. Unlike Ransoms on the Friday night prior, we got our drink orders promptly with no mistakes. Appetizers were brought out steaming hot with individual dishes to share. Those dishes and plates were cleared before our entrees came out. Wait staff was efficient, friendly and attentive.
