Homemade ranch is to die for. This is our go-to for food in this town. Never fails and is always fresh. Their salads are LOADED, wings are best in town (even better than oceans my husband says) burgers are juicy. Only thing I've had and didn't love was the bbq burger. We were in Monticello for a college visit and went to lunch at Bubbie's, which is a popular place for college students. They even give a discount to UAM students who show their college ids. The chicken sandwich I had, and the boneless chicken wings my wife and soon to be Cotton Blossom daughter had, were very good. The chicken was hand breaded and sauced, and my grilled chicken sandwich was blackened and very tasty. The hand-cut French fries were also very good, and some places don't know how to cook homemade fries. After the visit, we went back to get some fried pies before heading to Hot Springs. The pies were freshly fried---is that a thing? They were cooked when ordered, which is nice. If you go to Monticello and want to eat where all the college kids go, because who wouldn't want to do that, be sure to give Bubbie's a try. read more

Additionally, the tile floor, especially in front of the drink dispenser, was extremely slick and I almost fell twice just trying to fill my cup. They were out of paper to dry your hands. * Wait time was about 10-15 minutes. My fries didn't feel fresh and were only slightly warm. Otherwise, they tasted pretty good! The onion rings were well-battered and large. I heard from my dad that the shrimp Po' boy was very good, which it must be since he rarely gives compliments to food freely. The cheeseburger that my mom ordered was "okay," but it definitely looked good. My grilled fish was actually good and flakey, well-cooked. I don't know why this place doesn't have better reviews because their burgers are awesome! I got the bubbie burger with everything on it and an order of their onion rings. The burger is stacked tall with fixens and tender pulled pork. The onion rings are basically onion donuts -- hand battered, thick, and crispy. I did also order one of the fried pecan pies (because my inner fat kid needed that) and it does not disappoint. I've never had a fried pie, but it's basically everything you would imagine and hope for. It literally explodes in your mouth. This place needs to be on DDD. read more

After all the great reviews, I thought I was going to be more pleasantly surprised with this place. The dining room only had 4 or 5 tables. 2 were already taken by. college football players who were blocking the hallway to the bathroom and didn't offer to move when I had to take my 5 year old, so I had to move a chair to get by, the men's room was locked but not occupied, so I took her to the women's. When we came back to our seats I noticed flies on the jerseys hanging from the ceiling, which I always think is the worst. Then we had to choose what to order, and I had read online the cheesesteak was the best someone had ever eaten, so I went for that. My wife ordered a brisket sandwich and we got a slider and fries for the child. The cheesesteak was $10.79 before tax, and did not include fries. The brisket sandwich was $9.89 and then fries were $3.69. The kids meal was $6.59. The slider was so small my 5 year old was asking where the rest was. My wife got pulled pork instead of brisket, we asked the worker, she said they have pulled brisket, not sliced. Never heard of it. My cheesesteak was ok, everything was chopped square and covered with cheese dip, but still I would say it was ok. Had to fight off the fly several times from mine and my child's food. Overall a bad experience, but we were just passing through and it was so highly rated, we had to try it. Maybe we just caught them on a bad night. read more

Talk about comfort food for us! A great Place worth going to! I ordered the blackened shrimp Poboy. The shrimp was meaty and a good ratio to the bun, so definitely hit the spot for me! Also, the shrimp was perfectly grilled! We also ordered the jumbo burger and my boyfriend liked it except that the top bun fell apart and made the burger messy to eat. The onion rings are thick and tasty and kind of reminded me of eating a funnel cake, again comfort food(not complaining). The fried pecan pie was okay, I did like that it was served warm however when you cut into the pie, lots of syrup came spilling out (maybe that's suppose to be the concept but a first for me when comes to a fried pecan pie). customer service was outstanding and very friendly. While driving around Monticello and contemplating if I really wanted to do fast food, I decided to give Bubbie's a try. I had heard the burgers were really good. What I found was that this is now my favorite place to eat at in Monticello. I walk in and it is nothing like I imagine. I'm thinking Monticello fast food version hamburger...but it's so much more. There was BBQ! How could I not know there was BBQ here!? Well, not to burn myself out on BBQ, I went with Bubbie's Burger...a Burger with pulled pork on it. This was one of the best burgers I've had in a while! The burger was made out of real, fresh hamburger meat. No frozen patty! Plus, the pork on top was tender, juicy, and marinated in a BBQ sauce. There were 3 BBQ sauces to choose from and well, I'm a sauce-a-holic so I asked for all of them on the side. The vinegar one was the best...it seemed to have honey and black pepper. It was sweet and tangy. Sweet sauce was ok...seemed to have molasses in it and then there was a hot version of it. The fries were fresh and hand-cut. Sweet tea was freshly brewed. Had a Bubbie hamburger it was a regular hamburger (small)with pulled pork (with no taste)and pepper jack cheese for 7.99 no side. Don't order a drink it cost 2.19 that was a small. During my recent 8 night stay in Monticello, I had the great pleasure of walking to Bubbie's (just across my hotel parking lot). During my stay, I ate there 4 times and each time I was delighted to enjoy a delicious meal of fresh, made to order food. I'm not a fast food gal, so this was REAL food made fast! First, the ladies that serve there are the best! Very sweet and smiley... They even remembered my name . They bus your tables, refill your drinks and offer real hospitality. Thanks, ladies!! Now, the food: My first meal was a pulled pork sandwich AH-MAY-ZING!!! The meat was beautifully moist and there was plenty of it on my soft bun. I really love cole slaw and love to see how each establishment prepares it. Not disappointed here. Made IN HOUSE! Not too sweet, like most. Next meal was the fried catfish platter. I was bewitched! Crispy, yet tender and full of flavor! Cole slaw again and potato salad (also delish and made in house). Next meal was a hamburger with applewood smoked bacon, jalapeños and all the other fixings. The burger was so juicy and delicious! I had fresh hand cut fries with this order and they were incredible too. Crispy outsides with baked potato-like texture on the inside. Last meal was the grilled shrimp. Tender, juicy, cooked just perfectly. My only suggestion would be to tone down the salt. I ordered blackened and ate all 6 large, plump beauties. More cole slaw and potato salad. I could live at Bubbie's, if they'd let me. My only regret is not trying their ribs, served only Fridays and Saturdays. Thanks so much for 4 pleasant experiences!
