I still love the decor and the photos around the place. Ramps and eggs were amazing. I guess it's ramp season (very strong onion) and i couldn't pass it up. It had whipped Ricotta and pesto on fresh sourdough. It was incredible. A ton of flavor and the bread was phenomenal. I was also informed the Philly was amazing. Loved the flavors.

The place was packed and the hostess would not look at us. She put her hand over her face and looked to the servers walking past. One of the servers said, "We're closed." We said, "oh... ok." And left. Listen, I've worked in the restaurant industry. I get it, it's frustrating when people come in close to closing time. However, if the posted signage has a closing time of 2pm that means you are open and taking customers until that time. If the kitchen closes earlier, that should be posted. If that isn't the case, even if you really want to clock out, you need to stay. Especially if you're located in a remote location with travelers coming through. Luckily there was a Dollar General nearby and we could grab something to eat... not the experience we were hoping for.

The service however was atrocious. Our waitress literally grabbed a bowl of soup from one of the gentleman's hands that was in our group. She told him that it wasn't his and that it was for someone at the bar in a very rude manner. This was after she served him this soup and he had eaten some of it. The fact that she was so bold about reserving it to someone else was the comical part of our experience here. We just laughed it off and tried to enjoy the rest of our time there. After that another gentleman in our group was served the wrong sandwich and was also questioned by the same waitress as to what it was he was eating because yet again we were served the wrong dish. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger that literally was served to me 20 minutes after everyone else had already been served and eaten their meals. The burger once I had gotten it was actually delicious. The people that we were with that recommended this place apologized to us numerous times. They said that it's never like that in there so possibly we just caught it on a bad day.

We drove from Pittsburgh this weekend just to get them again, seriously, they're that good. We had the butter and Old Bay seasoning with Captain's Sauce on the side when we first came here last September and we've been comparing every wing we've had to them since. None have come close. There's something about the flavor mixture that's just unlike anything I've ever had, as far as wings go. I'd love to give a review about other menu items, but I can't imagine wanting anything else more.

I asked a couple questions about the menu and was immediately directed to the BLT by a woman in the kitchen. Wow I wasn't disappointed. It was sooooo good. The bread was toasted perfectly (so it didn't kill the roof of my mouth), the tomato's and lettuce were fresh, the bacon crispy, and that basil mayo. A life changing BLT if there is such a thing. A couple side notes I appreciate. Bittersweet's marketing team deserves. Ton of credit - they have some awesome swag available for purchase. Also, this is a Christian oriented cafe with bible verses, messaging, and music. Love it! And finally, check out the story about Bittersweet's roots, its commitment to addiction recovery/support, and the owner's son's story/passing. The name "Bittersweet Cafe" will take on a deeper meaning (the news articles can be found in the walls before the counter by the bathrooms). Cheers Bittersweet, thanks for having me, and God bless!

Nice landscaping provides a near perfect setting to enjoy a cup of coffee. I ended up getting a simple red eye. It was delicious. I understand they brew Iron Star coffee out of West Mifflin. The same Iron Star that owns Coffee Tree shops. If this coffee is any indication, I think I need to visit Coffee Tree again. It's been a while. Anyway, I had a really good cup of coffee and a peanut butter and jelly cookie. No complaints on the cookie, but I wish they had some breakfast sweets like scones or cinnamon rolls. Next time I'll try some real food. Just be aware that things are a little pricey here.

I was in the area recently and I thought this would be a cool spot to take my friend and her kids…read moreto while enjoying some fun in the area on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. So upon arriving I thought what a hip little place and I was excited to try it out because of the outside seating and also because it's right next to the Yough. So as we walked in to order the place was dead. There was only three people at the bar having drinks on a beautiful Saturday afternoon with what looked to be their friend who was bartending. So after looking at the menu I decided on an iced oat milk latte because they had zero vegan options from the menu board. I also let the kids pick out whatever they wanted and their mom just decided to eat some of what her kids were having since she knew they wouldn't eat it all. Two ordered pizza, one ordered chips and salsa and the other ordered chicken tacos. So we went outside and grabbed a table and waited for the food to arrive, but it took no time at all. I think that is mainly because there was nobody there eating. Honestly, I was surprised at how fast the pizzas came out, but I wasn't after I saw them lol The two pizzas were a total joke and complete rip-off for $10 a piece. I thought they were supposed to be artisan hand tossed pizza from the pics I had seen, but NOPE! They were literally small frozen pizzas heated up in something that made them all soggy, so probably a microwave. Yikes! If I was eating I would have returned them and asked for my money back, but I let it go because the kids were happy. They were the kind of pizza you get at a box chain grocery store for $1 each, NO JOKE! Then they charged me $1 extra for 8 pepperoni for the one pizza. Hilarious! Also, the waiter/bartender forgot to bring the kids napkins and her son salsa for his chips. Like what?!?He also never came back out to ask if we needed anything else because he must have been busy with his friends at the bar. I have been coming to this area my whole life because of Ohiopyle, Nemacolin, Falling Waters, Seven Springs, The Yough, The Summit Inn, etc and I also had several business accounts in this area for many years and nobody I know ever recommended this place once and I can see why now. Tbh: There are several other places in the area to enjoy a multitude of delicious things to eat that are way better than this place and especially if you're wanting pizza. I could have just bought them one Little Caesars $5 Hot and Ready and it would have been like buying five of their pizzas and the kids would have been much happier and way more full and I wouldn't have wasted $21on $2 worth of pizza from Giant Eagle. *I highly do not recommend* It's a shame too because I really wanted to like this place so much, but if they did better I would have, simple! Service 2/10 Location 8/10 Food 1/10 Iced latte 3/10 Side Note: The kids did have a lot of fun playing cornhole so that's the one good thing.

Before going, I had read a few isolated reviews mentioning poor service and food quality. Since our experience was the complete opposite, I think it's only fair to share it as some balance. We had made a dinner reservation for the patio overlooking the river. It was a beautiful, sunny (and HOT) day. When we arrived, the hostess let us choose our table. I picked a sunny spot, but our server, Amy, came over and suggested we move just one table back because the shade would reach us much sooner, and we would still have a great view of the river. She was right, and after a long day on our bikes, we really appreciated her thoughtfulness. And that was just the beginning. Amy immediately brought us water and took our drink order. I was craving a spicy margarita, which wasn't on the menu. She graciously told me that if they had jalapeños in the kitchen, she would make me a great one. A little while later, Amy appeared with my margarita in hand and apologized for the delay. Then she explained why it had taken a little longer: they didn't have any jalapeños in the kitchen, so a staff member had actually run to their nearby home to grab a fresh pepper FROM THEIR GARDEN for my drink! Seriously. Who does that?! And yes, it was one of the best spicy margaritas I've ever had. Dinner was just as impressive. I really wanted a Caesar salad with steak, which also wasn't a menu option. When I asked Amy about it, she immediately said she thought they could make it happen. And they did. The steak was cooked perfectly, the salad was well made, and it had exactly the right amount of dressing. After three days of biking the GAP, sitting beside the river with a delicious meal, refreshing drinks and that beautiful view was exactly what we needed. Huge props to Amy and the entire staff at River's Edge Cafe. From accommodating our off-menu requests to literally finding a fresh-from-the-garden jalapeño for my margarita, the service went far beyond what we expected. Our experience was absolutely wonderful, and River's Edge will definitely be on our list the next time we're in Confluence!
