The Twelve Days of Yelpmas Day Four…read more Short tracks like this are the foundation of auto racing. They got a rough around the edges glory and a weird mix of wholesomeness and griminess. It's a subculture far enough removed from Yelp that this here Yankee had to create a listing and contribute the first photos and first review. I caught the last event of the year 2024 here on December 14 with my dad in tow. I saw from Google reviews, which I guess are more NASCAR and Yelp is more Formula 1, and from Google Maps that seating is very limited so I brought along 2 folding chairs. That turned out to be unnecessary as the scant bleachers never even reached half capacity. Seems the crowd at short tracks is usually just friends and families of the drivers. It was tough figuring out where to park as there's two areas with no clear delineation between the race haulers and race cars and regular vehicles. The cars ranged from micro sprint cars to mini late models to legends class. The latter look like little ZZ Top cars. There were some pretty good on track battles for position on that dirt surface, a lot of getting sideways in the corners, and the tow carts got a good workout. Those guys seemed like bigger athletes than anyone the way they rushed out to clear up the track. The PA system was used very sparingly, much more so than other races I'd been to at Auburndale down here in the Sunshine State or at Flat Rock back at home in Michigan. I didn't necessarily need a full play by play but some more rough framework would have been nice. Most of the pa verbiage was him haranguing lollygagging drivers to get their cars to the track for their heat races! And there were some lulls between the races. I never needed to use the restroom but hit up the concessions twice. They made a mean cheeseburger and fries that really hit the spot with nice crispy crinkle fries. I had a Mountain Dew to drink, figuring when in Rome.... didn't see Monster Energy drink or NOS so it seemed the people's champ there. There was also a tent with some booze options down by the track. Not trying to dry snitch and I'm not sure if it was legit or even for sale but there were a few fifths down there. One way or another race fans are gonna get their drink on. Later I went back to the concessions and ordered nachos and a blue Gatorade. As soon as I got those nachos and saw the absence of jalapeños and that neon yellow cheese I knew they were gonna be subpar. And indeed it was stale ass chips. 7 Eleven nachos slay the weak ones they have here. No awesome and hilarious painting of a hot dog waving a checkered flag at the Sevs though. Twice there was delays due to damage to a concrete beam that runs along the top of the banking on one side of the track. The second was extensive and my cold, tired dad wanted to leave so we did. There was no updates and info from the PA system as to what was going on which I thought was pretty wack. We were there over two hours so we caught quite a bit of racing but I would have liked to watch the event to its conclusion.

So knowledgeable about the horses, interactive and very sweet. Spent a lot of time talking with everyone and was great with the horses. The other guide seemed to be rather mean with the horses.i didn't catch his name, as after he came over and interrupted while I was spending time with a horse to show someone how "if a horse likes you you can do whatever to it" and while he was roughing up the horses, the horse got nippy with him and he hit him pretty hard on the nose. If it weren't for the second guides actions it would have been a perfect 5 star visit but I can't overlook those actions.

We will definitely try to do it again in the future but perhaps when it is cooler. The trail is wooded and the area where you mount and dismount is covered with trees so that helped. The way of contact thru email is not always desirable but I didn't think important enough to take off stars. It is a small run business and having someone man a phone is costly on a business so we won't complain.

Staff was informative and friendly...the horses were patient with the preparations. The events were delightful to say the least. The horses were majestic, beautiful, powerful and amazing. When they trotted or ran past us it was like thunder. There was a safety barricade to stand behind and take pictures...perfect. A totally super experience. I visited the zoo yesterday. I first called to see if I could do the camel ride, but then I found…read morethat need at least 3 people for the ride. So I decided to pon.... Er... Camel up the money for 3. I arrived to the barn a bit early for my ride. It was 14 for admission, 16 per person for the camel ride (42 total), and 5 dollars for a generous amount of feed. There was a small barn when you enter, but the horses and ponies were not feedable as barriers were too high. Instead, the outdoor portion had many animals eager to enjoy the feed like the goats, sleeps and cows. They were able to be petted as well. Around 1sh, the owner and her assistant got the camel ready for me to ride. They had the steps and mounting the camel wasn't too difficult. The had handles to hold on and I was lead by a person. The ride lasted for five minutes and was fun. It was a bit bumpy and definitely not like riding a horse, but the seat was comfortable and the barriers kept me safe. Plenty of pictures were taken by request. It was an expensive ride, but well worth it! After the ride, I visited the other areas of the zoo. Most of the animals were farm animals, but they also had some more exotic animals in cages like monkeys, lemurs, and birds. Unfortunately, they were a bit small, and some looked a bit bored. However, it looks like the barn tries their best by adding toys and engaging objects. There is also a place to picnic, a small playground for the kids, and even a kiddie ride. There is a small shop where you can get ice cream as well. The owner was friendly as well as her relatives and helpers. The explained that many have been rescued, and how the owner used to be in the circus. It looks like she takes as good care as possible for the animals, and not trying to make a huge profit from them. I am glad that I visited the zoo and was able to have the camel ride. The staff were friendly, most animals seemed alright, and the spaces are large enough to enjoy at least an hour. There are rules in the zoo, so be sure to respect them. Parking is free and wasn't too difficult. Definitely worth a nice outing, especially with kids.

My wife and I visited Two Tails Ranch today. There was as a small group of people on the tour…read more Patrica the owner was our guide. It was very personal and the amount of history of the Ranch was fascinating. She explained the sad peril of the all elephants over the world. The Ranch is solely run by her family which has been caring for elephants for generations. They do the they can to give the elephants the best life they can have as unfortunately most elephants know nothing about the wild. Patrica was gentle with the two elephants that we were introduced to. When visiting the ranch you need to have an open mind. Great educational experience!

They really treat these creatures like human family. Was such an experience. Got to ride and feed…read morethem. There is so much room for them to roam more than any lame Zoo. They have a thing where you can bathe them. The people who run this are amazing. I know they have been through alot over the years and goad they are able to keep moving forward one giant paw at a time.

I almost lost my life at Rainbow River, and I feel like I need to share this for anyone considering…read moretubing there. I came expecting a peaceful, relaxing experience because that's what you see in the pictures and reviews. Instead, I ended up in one of the scariest moments of my life. I fell out of my tube and got stuck in deep mud. My water shoe was literally sucked into the mud, and I couldn't push myself up from the bottom. I couldn't get back on my tube because my legs were stuck, and I had already gone underwater and was coughing. What made it even worse was that my daughter, who cannot swim, had drifted away and I couldn't see her. I truly thought I might drown and that something could happen to my daughter. I was panicking, crying, and shaking. By the grace of God, I saw the only boat nearby and flagged them down. They went back and picked me up and my daughter too. I will never forget the people who helped us. I truly believe they prevented a tragedy that day. Another important thing to mention is that this happened toward the evening on a weekday, and there were almost no people left on the river. We were some of the last people out there. I got incredibly lucky that there happened to be a boat nearby because otherwise, I don't know what would have happened to me or my daughter. What upsets me the most is that there was no real safety briefing or warning about the risks. We were given tubes and sent off. No one explained the currents, deep areas, muddy bottoms, or what to do in an emergency. No one recommended life jackets to us, even though not everyone in our group could swim. Please understand that there are no lifeguards. Depending on the time of day, you may find yourself with very few people around to help in an emergency. If I hadn't been able to flag down that boat, this story could have ended very differently. I later learned that other people have had similar frightening experiences here, and I understand why. Please, if you decide to go: * Wear a life jacket, especially if you are not a strong swimmer. * Do not assume the water is shallow because it's a spring. * Do not bring children or adults who cannot swim without extra precautions. * Understand that there are no lifeguards and you are responsible for your own safety. This experience was so traumatic for me that I still have flashbacks and cannot imagine ever returning. A beautiful place can still be dangerous, and I wish I had known that before I went. Please stay safe.
