I visited the zoo yesterday. I first called to see if I could do the camel ride, but then I found that need at least 3 people for the ride. So I decided to pon.... Er... Camel up the money for 3. I arrived to the barn a bit early for my ride. It was 14 for admission, 16 per person for the camel ride (42 total), and 5 dollars for a generous amount of feed. There was a small barn when you enter, but the horses and ponies were not feedable as barriers were too high. Instead, the outdoor portion had many animals eager to enjoy the feed like the goats, sleeps and cows. They were able to be petted as well. Around 1sh, the owner and her assistant got the camel ready for me to ride. They had the steps and mounting the camel wasn't too difficult. The had handles to hold on and I was lead by a person. The ride lasted for five minutes and was fun. It was a bit bumpy and definitely not like riding a horse, but the seat was comfortable and the barriers kept me safe. Plenty of pictures were taken by request. It was an expensive ride, but well worth it! After the ride, I visited the other areas of the zoo. Most of the animals were farm animals, but they also had some more exotic animals in cages like monkeys, lemurs, and birds. Unfortunately, they were a bit small, and some looked a bit bored. However, it looks like the barn tries their best by adding toys and engaging objects. There is also a place to picnic, a small playground for the kids, and even a kiddie ride. There is a small shop where you can get ice cream as well. The owner was friendly as well as her relatives and helpers. The explained that many have been rescued, and how the owner used to be in the circus. It looks like she takes as good care as possible for the animals, and not trying to make a huge profit from them. I am glad that I visited the zoo and was able to have the camel ride. The staff were friendly, most animals seemed alright, and the spaces are large enough to enjoy at least an hour. There are rules in the zoo, so be sure to respect them. Parking is free and wasn't too difficult. Definitely worth a nice outing, especially with kids. read more

We recently visited Petting Zoo Ocala with our 2-year-old, and encountered an issue regarding admission fees. The website clearly states that children aged "2 and under" are free, yet we were charged $10 for our toddler. When I called to request a reimbursement, the staff member informed me that the website was inaccurate and mentioned that changes went into effect on January 1, 2026, while our visit was on January 2, 2026. Unfortunately, she refused to honor the refund or apply the fee towards our visit. When I expressed my intention to write a review to inform others, I was told that doing so would be "stealing from the animals" and preventing others from visiting because of their mistake. While $10 may seem small, it matters, especially in the current economic climate. It would have been more appropriate for the zoo to honor what their website states rather than engaging in an argument about the charge. I hope they can improve their clarity on their policies moving forward. read more

The Ocala Petting Zoo is worth the trip. It costs $8.00 for adults and $6.00 for children. They have small bags of food for a $1.00 or a large bag for $4.50. Wear closed toed shoes. The animals are super friendly and loving. You are able to get full on attention from them whether you want to pet or feed them. One of the goats tried to play ball with my grandson by running after every kick. He had an amazing time. There is one animal that spits. The llama named Cosmo is cautious and reacts if you come up on him. He is super amusing to watch and if you are not careful you will need a good clean up after he's done with you. He launched a few mouthfuls at us and thankfully missed. It was all in good fun and he gave us a pretty good laugh. They offer sinks to wash up before and after your visit. Nice idea, but I just felt terrible for the animals. Once I saw the grossly overgrown feet on the poor Miniature Horse, I had to leave. I paid way too much for our family to see fat and unhappy animals. read more

This is a really fun place to spend an afternoon with kids or just as adults. My friend and I had a great time feeding and petting all the different animals. It's a big space with many different pens. Most of the animals you feed are pony's, goats, lamas, cows and pigs. But it's really fun to see all the animals personality's. They have all become accustomed to growing towards people with the food bags they sell so it's easy to get up close with the animals. Also several hand wash stations are provided. read more

Such a sad experience. The smallest horse in Florida can't walk on his overgrown hooves. Some animals had water, others didn't. So many shut down animals stuck in solitary. Train ride? haha, nope. Doesn't exist. I need to get this reported. read more

It's exciting to see a small business flourish and that is what this local zoo is doing. Though there's mostly farm type animals they are well behaved and friendly. There are a few exotics such as a kangaroo, llamas and emus. All petting and feeding is encouraged as you can buy feed there. Have you ever ridden a camel? Well, you can do it here! It's a small additional charge and it'll be a fond memory for the kids. One of the best legends here is Elliot the Peking duck. He was raised in an apartment with other animals and was rescue to live here. That makes him one lucky duck! He loves hugs and pets and wonders all around the zoo. Of interest may be a picnic type area where you could have a child's birthday. If I were younger I sure would like to celebrate my birthday here! read more

My husband, daughter and I had the most wonderful time. It was so lovely to get the opportunity, to get up close to this incredible array of animals. Ocala petting zoo is in a very pretty country location and the animals all seemed well taken care of. Met the owner who was a fascinating lady.. all the animals are rescues/donated. I would highly recommend if you love animals! We also found the whole experience very therapeutic. We live 2.20 mins away and would definitely return to visit this Gem of a find! read more

Nice little petting farm. The animals are very friendly (except for the notoriously mean little lemur, but he isn't in a location where he's any danger.) It was only $8 per person for an unlimited amount of time with the animals. They have a little part where you can walk in with some of the animals. We loved our trip to the petting zoo! Llamas, monkeys, ponies, pigs, porcupines. Cows, goats, sheep, even a wallaby! So much more, too! It was a rainy day but we braved it because when you promise kids ...well, you know. The owner was so nice...and wow does she work non stop! We loved that the animals were all rescues. There is a section next to the Tortoise that is being fixed. The orange tape that is supposed to block off the area was down and my children got closer. The person working on the area starts raising his voice and saying it's the parents fault the children are over here. I called my children over and explained how it was an accident and the man starts arguing with me telling me it wasn't an accident and is cursing and being super unprofessional and disrespectful. This is supposed to be a place for families and children. Come to find out he is one of the owners. If this guy spoke to my children and I this way I can only imagine who else he spoke to like this. Completely unacceptable to talk to people this way. If you are going to own a business like this then learn some people skills and respect for others! read more

Don't waste your money. Paid a lot of money to get into this very tiny petting zoo that has just a couple animals. I paid extra for both of my kids to get a pony ride, and was told that the rides are only given on the half hour (which was a half-hour away). No explanation for that policy and made no sense since we were the only people there. Once it was time for the pony ride, I could not find any pony or employee giving rides. There was a teen-aged employee standing around doing nothing so I asked her where I go for the pony ride. Without saying anything to me, she turned around and sent someone a message on her phone. Then she walked away and came back around 10 minutes later and said the person who does the pony rides is on the phone. On the phone?? Waited another 20 minutes and the person who gave the rides was nowhere to be seen. I went back to the unhelpful teenager employee and asked if I can have my money refunded since there's nobody doing pony rides. She became very rude but agreed to give me a refund after spending 5 minutes walking around between buildings. Very disappointed that I wasted time and money here and my daughter was very upset at not getting her pony ride. read more

Great place with lots of animals to feed. Large spaces for the goats, Sheep's, horses and cows. There was a little bounce house with a kids playground in there petting zoo. I really enjoy petting and feeding the cow. I have never seen a cow that close before . The cows size was impressive. I would go here again. My kids really enjoyed it here. read more

This place is in need of care. There is a poor spider monkey with mange no hair from his waist down look so sad. An ostrich that has pulled all its feathers from his neck perhaps from stress. Dogs in a barn that most likely are for breeding so skinny. All the stables and cages need a good cleaning. By far one of the worst "petting zoos" I've ever visited. The poor chickens are in dirty cages. There is a sign that they need volunteers but what they are need ASAP is a VET. read more

I loved him but he is GREEDY- so get an extra feed bag just for him lol. They have reptiles, monkeys, a HUGE friendly cow- and I mean this bull is gigantic but very sweet, camels, goats, sheep, cool varieties of birds, super sweet pigs and literally the smallest mini horse in Florida (that's an actual fact)! Some animals you cannot feed but they tell you which ones (dietary restrictions). And soon I heard they will be getting an elephant! We had SO MUCH FUN. I can't put into words what a great place this is. There are so many animals and just about every one of them are friendly. What really made my day was actually getting IN the pin with a variety of animals all at once- there were goats, sheep, an alpaca, a pig, and even an Emu! My husband and I kept going back for more feed! The animals looked like they were taken care of and the property was very clean (for a farm, anyway!). This place is a great petting zoo for all ages. The animals here are so friendly and so is the staff. They told us 99% of the animals are rescue animals & they get calls every day. We saw cows, goats, emu, horses, mini horses, alpacas, chickens, turkey, bunnies, ducks, a big tortoise, pigs & camel. There is also a miniature pony that is a dwarf so he's super tiny...a must see! They said they might have monkeys next year!! We couldn't take a camel ride this time because she was pregnant...so there will be a baby camel any day now! The pony rides are only $3. There is even a little bounce house & swing sets for kids. The price is very reasonable even for a large family. Loved the facility and the animals were so cute!! My only complaint would have to be one semi-rude/unprofessional man that volunteers there. I asked if they had cups with vegetables to bring with us to feed the goats for purchase(because my nephew had done it a few months prior). He proceeded to tell me that they are not a non-profit facility that is not funded by the city. He must have not heard that I wanted to pay for them. It made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Save Your Money! This is just a sad, awful place to bring a child & hope he/she will experience the wonders of Nature! First, prices are high, although I do understand the cost of animal care is high, so I wouldn't have minded if it was a decent place.
