I've been coming here for a few years now and they've always done an awesome job and in a timely manner. They also now setup appointments which is great, so I don't have to walk in and hope they aren't too busy. The barbershop itself is fresh in not only climate, but it's a newly remodeled shop by the looks of it and is very clean. Barbara, Linda, and Uriel are all great barbers. My only deal is to avoid an older gentleman they got working there every now and then. Although his quality is fine, he takes nearly twice as long as the other barbers for the same haircut and spends a lot of time talking. read more

Walked in today and right away got a haircut. It was probably one of my favorite haircuts I have ever gotten she took her time and did an amazing job. I wish I had gotten the ladies name so I could go with her again. But I will definitely be a regular now. Just moved to the area and by far the best place. About two months ago I came into this barber shop and was helped by the lady that has the second chair station. I loved the haircut she gave me and she took her time and explained things to me about my hair that I didn't know. Yesterday December 18, I called to see if they were open and I booked an appointment. The same lady wasn't there so instead I was helped by uriel. I didn't know he was the one cutting my hair until the end that I asked for his name. I had read many good reviews about him. But In my situation he didn't do a good job. He does take his time so I give him that. But he messed up the left side of my hair. Maybe it was just bad luck. It's 5:54. Supposedly they close at 7. And it is also posted outside of their window... they didn't even greet us. The two people inside just stared at us blankly and said they were closed. I don't understand how they can have a sign that says they close at 7 Pm on Wednesdays , yet they can't take us in before 6 Pm. This is bad for busIness so you can't blame the customer. I came to this place to get my cut today after months of prolonging it. I was looking like a hairy-ass wookiee because I usually wait about 3 months between cuts. Well for those 3 or 4 times a year that I do go get a haircut I keep coming back to B's. Unlike other over priced "Salons" or places to get a "Super" cut, this place gives you quality for a good low price. I used to go to those other guys but I was never satisfied. Either those places were too feminine or I felt like they didn't know what the hell they were doing. I always felt like I paid too much and they always fucked up my "do" in the last five minutes of the cut. What can I do? Complain and have them put my hair back? Nope, instead I went on a journey to look for a new spot. After trying out a couple of other questionable local spots I ran across B's and decided to give it a shot. That was a couple of years ago. Just a simple barber shop dishing out good cuts. I've been there at least three times and they've listened to what I ask for. In my most recent visit I asked for a scissor cut and I wasn't certain the lady could do it how I asked because she questioned why I wanted my cut with the scissors. I braced for the worst, but surprisingly she understood what I wanted and gave me a decent cut. All I can say is this is one of the places you can go to if you're looking to try a new place. It might be a risky move just as going to any other new barbershop could be, but I haven't had a bad experience yet. On the upside, haircuts are just $11. Great place for a haircut. This isn't the loud and boistrous (and sometimes vulgar) places you find in the surrounding areas; this is a place I can bring my family to, and that counts for quite a bit. I've known Barbara for about 10 years. I used to go to a barbershop in South Gate where she was working at the time. Of all the barbers, she was the most proffessional and polite. I like this barbershop because it doesnt have any gimmicks. I have bounced around many barbershops around Downey and I like this one the most. It doesn't have loud music like one that I had gone to before. It doesn't seem snobby like others. They have enough barbers working that you don't spend an eternity waiting for your cut. Each barber has their style but they are versatile. So if my barber isn't in I can sit down with the next and they will understand what I want. They are friendly and their shop is always clean. Never in my life have I wished for Yelp to make negative points to give people as i do with this place. Horrible service from the older man that seems to be in a bad mood all day everyday. To compare with surrounding barbers really outdated so I would assume they want to give that family environment feel but on the contrary it's a bad experience all around.
