Love the shiny feeling afterward, knowing that I'm getting a deep clean... and one day I might marry a dentist just so I can get cleanings more often. I recently moved to NoVA from PA and have new insurance. I called four other offices who claimed they took my insurance but were not sure. In fact, I had an appointment all set up with a more corporate-feeling office, but they called me later to say, "just kidding we are not in your insurance network!" I feel like that is something they should have known and been able to tell me over the phone from the beginning. Dr. Patterson's office was able to get me in the next day due to a cancellation - amazing (I had been waiting since April for my next cleaning)! Here - the practice was mentioned on my insurance website, so I felt confident that I wouldn't have to pay for my cleaning. The staff was knowledgeable about my insurance and the new patient paperwork was done online with my phone- all I had to do was sign when I got there! The surburban setting of the office and waiting room reminded me of my dentist office back in my hometown and put me at ease. Like dentists in the 1980's only had certain options like hard wooden chairs in a converted living room. I liked how informative both my hygienist (Manuela?) and Dr. Patterson were. I like to be involved in the process and learn what I can do better to prolong the health of my mouth. (And prevent spending tons of money). We discussed some cosmetic options and Dr. Patterson was honest with me (about not REALLY needing it) - not just trying to make money. (I have a consult appointment in less than a month). All in all a great experience. Can't wait for my next cleaning.

Dr. Ahmed completely changed that in one visit. I've been seeing her for three years and I will NEVER let another dentist touch my teeth. Now that I've had the best, I will never go back! I moved to another state for work last year, and still go back to Virginia to see Dr. Ahmed twice a year. You only get one set of teeth! My husband sees Dr. Ahmed too, and we could not be happier. I have a multitude of dental procedure related trauma and even cleanings are painful on my very sensitive teeth. Dr. Rick let me meander about every negative experience and all of my needs without judgement. He was extremely gentle, checked in constantly to make sure he wasn't hurting me, and had the decency to remove his hands and instruments from my mouth when he wanted me to answer a question. I honestly can't remember the last time I had such a pain-free experience. The fact that he was a pleasant conversationalist was a bonus. Oh. Unfortunately recently there has been a revolving door of new cadre of dentists and the quality of care and the office experience has significantly declined. One dentist redid a bonding but it looked so terrible I to go elsewhere to get it redone. The office management kept spamming me to make an appointment but then the only availability five months out. They also recently started pushing more unnecessary services, which is expected but still irritating. I will give them credit for not lying about having cavities, which has happened at other dental practices. It is hard to find a good dentist in this area and until a year ago I loved my experiences with this practice. But sadly this is no longer the case and I can't recommend this dental practice.

And his staff is phenomenal! They are all so pleasant! You can see from the diversity of his staff that he is an equal opportunity employer (Caucasian, African American, Spanish, Asian...etc). The majority of the staff has been their for 10+ years. Dr. Argentieri and Dr. Bunin have an excellent bedside manner! When I moved and worked in Alexandria, VA for about 2 years, I went to another dentist that my coworker referred me to (for convenience). Well the quality was great but the Dr's and staff's bedside manner was poor and they sent me to collections for a measly $60 past due balance on my account! The wife was the account manager and she was so rude! I was a young and single low-income parent. I didn't want them to collect another penny from me so I fired them. I got a new job in Rosslyn, VA and decided to try a dentist in Rosslyn (for convenience again..) and their always seemed to be a new dentist every time I went and that didn't give me a warm fuzzy. My teeth still felt gritty after cleanings. Furthermore, I had a root canal there and I was still having pain after the procedure. I decided to go back to Dr. Argentieri and haven't looked back since. Due to not flossing my teeth over the years, I have acquired poor oral hygiene and it has cost me a lot of money, but Dr. Argentieri and his staff has worked with me because they care more about my teeth than money. On the one hand I always had a good experience with the hygienists and there have been few issues with insurance. I used to see Dr. Bunin who I thought was great but he left to go to another firm. Initially, I did find Dr. Argentieri to be somewhat abrasive, however, I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, and I have always gotten along with him just fine. Both my husband and I have had extensive work done there and would get my teeth cleaned twice a year. They always took the time to take my blood pressure and it always felt like they cared about their patients. Until recently. I had an appointment for a regular cleaning but I had to cancel it because I had to work at the last minute. I am a real estate agent and I was called to show a house about an hour away the same morning of my appointment. I was not going to be able to get back in time for my appointment. It was an impossible situation because my client works at night so she was not going to be able to view the home in the evening and she couldn't schedule it for another day. I tried. Karen, whom I had never met before, was rude to me over the phone. She told me that since it was inside 24 hours (it was about 20 hours), I would be charged a missed appointment fee. In six years I was NEVER charged a missed appointment fee. NEVER. I'm sure it must have happened at least once due to the nature of my job, but I had never been charged for it. I was stunned. She would not talk to me, she just kept repeating the same thing over and over again. I live about 5 minutes away so I drove over there to speak to her directly. I could not believe I was being treated that way after being a patient for so long. She showed ZERO understanding about my job and could not answer why, after six years I was suddenly being charged this fee. I wasn't even aware that there WAS a missed appointment fee because I had never been charged one before. I tried to be reasonable with her. TBH, I just wanted her to tell me that they would not charge me this time, since there was no warning, but with the understanding that going forward, I would be charged, but no. She just kept repeating that it was policy and insisted that I would be charged for it. She had no regard for how long I'd been a customer nor how much $ we'd spent there over the years. It was really disgusting the way she treated me. THEN, to make matters worse, she told me that she was cancelling all my future cleaning appointments and that the only way they would see me again is if I came in as a walk in. (This woman does not know the meaning of negotiation nor goodwill.) This happened several months ago but I was prompted to write this review because my husband (we are separated) recently had work done there and the bills still come to the house. I noticed that the $110 charge is still on the bill, so it reminded me of what happened and that there has obviously been no resolution. I was very comfortable and happy going there for over six years, happy with Drs. A and C and the two hygienists that I have seen over the years. But Karen ruined everything for me.
