They truly truly worked hard on keeping the party going on schedule and letting me (host) enjoy the party and not worry about anything. They didn't stop once. She went above and beyond for us, starting with the first informational call even before we hired her, when she had researched 1920s era cocktails and cool facts. At our cocktail tasting where we met to refine the menu (which may have been as fun as the actual party), she showed up in a 1920s bartender outfit and brought delicious mixers, printed menus and ideas. When our glassware order went wonky with the rental company, Charlene only got in touch with us after she had advocated on our behalf, and when that didn't change anything she had come up with a creative and thoughtful proposal for how to get the glassware needed for the party, at no extra effort or cost from us. Blown away. I've never experienced the level of service Charlene offers before. And of course, the cocktails!! The drinks were absolutely delicious and our guests couldn't get enough. At the end of the night our kitchen was spotless; I couldn't believe it. Every interaction was helpful, kind, responsive, and above and beyond. I made sure to take time and enjoy the wonderful delicious food and was blown away at the fact that although it was buffet, the food quality was exactly like the tasting. I received so many positive reviews by many of the guests at the wedding, that this was much better than typical wedding food. Robert and crew made sure that the drinks were stocked, food was hot and the cake was served. I would highly recommend Grapeseed Catering to anyone. Their level of consistency throughout the dinner service was amazing. the first tray and last tray of salmon was cooked the same - moist and delicious. This is the first time I've hired…read morea personal chef and didn't know what to expect, what to ask, what it would cost, etc. I spoke with Chef Jay on the phone first, around mid-December, and talked about what I wanted. He was very honest and straight forward, which I liked. He gave me a exact quote over the phone and didn't pressure me to use his service. (The quote was very reasonable and within my expectation.) We continued to communicate over email the next few weeks leading up to the party. Chef presented the four-course buffet menu to me and we only made one small change to the dessert item. He also suggested the wine pairings and told me what he would cover (plates, napkins, flatware) and what I needed to rent (glasses, linens). On the day of the party, he was punctual with his arrival time. He was very professional, friendly, and answered any questions we had. He was very transparent and shared cooking method, ingredients, etc. All of our guests could come up to him, ask him any questions, and he took the time to answer them all. Once the dinner started, Chef did a menu walk-through with our guests and talked about the wine pairings. Throughout the night and the dinner service, he was very autonomous and very discrete. He never interrupted the meal or stopped me from entertaining my guests. He also cleared plates as guests finished their meals. As I had to play hostess, I forgot to grab my dessert and Chef Jay made sure that I wasn't forgotten. He served me the dessert to save me a trip, which I thought was very sweet. On the topic of food, everything was fantastic. The food was cooked well, seasoned well, and portioned correctly. He made a chocolate dessert and when he talked about it, he called it a simplistic, humble dessert. He really downplayed the awesomeness of the chocolate brownie!!! If you use him, make sure you ask for this dessert! My husband is a big chocolate dessert fan. We dine out a lot and get chocolate dessert wherever we go. My husband said this was probably the best dessert he ever had. He was excited that we some leftovers brownies. The feedback I received about Chef Jay, the party, and the in-home, private chef experience were all positive. Once the party was over, my husband could not stop talking about how great the food was, how professional the Chef is, and what a great time he had. Our guests kept asking me how I found the Chef (I found him through Yelp) and they didn't know such service existed. They thought it was a really unique experience. Chef Jay left my kitchen the way he found it - clean and tidy. I would hire Chef Jay again and again. You'd do yourself a favor by hiring the Chef!

I am very disappointed with the service we received from Herban Feast. In the end, the wedding was…read morebeautiful and that is the only reason I am not leaving 1 star. The venue I got married at required us to rent all of the equipment and HF had been to the venue multiple times and said they would take care of the rental contract with the rental company. We got a sample contract and went over it with them and changed things to suit us then HF would make the changes with the rental company. Months later I went to the rental company to see the place settings in person and they pulled our contract and none of the updates had been made and many of our selections were no longer available so we had to make the changes ourselves. Something HF said they would take care of. Among the many things that had to be changed was glassware. We requested 200 small steins to be added on May 19th. On May 29th, HF confirmed the had updated equipment adds. We got the rental order straight from the rental company on June 24th and there was only 125 on the contract and they didn't have anymore available (photo attached). HF said they would charge us the rates they were paying for rentals plus a % service charge. The rental company sent us a copy of the contract created by HF and everything was cheaper than it was on our contract with HF. So we were paying a ~12% markup AND the service charge. Honestly, we wouldn't have cared about the extra cost had HF actually done what we asked with the rental company. Our coordinator was switched twice. When the changes happened, We had to start from square one each time, sending info we'd already sent. Often HF would only acknowledge one part of an email and we'd have to ask again. We were promised an updated quote by Friday, by Monday we didn't have it and followed up and were assured we would have it by the end of this week. Well, 6 weeks later we finally had the updated quote and it was missing changes (photo attached). They said they were busy with other weddings. The time wouldn't have been a big deal if they were clear about when we would have it. I know they were busy but to be frank, I don't care about the other weddings, I just wanted them to do what they said. Our main coordinator, BJ, seemed arrogant. At our tasting the salmon was raw, like totally translucent and cold. Other than that, the salmon was delicious so we requested it to be fully cooked. BJ told us the salmon was 'northwest style' and no one has ever complained about how it was cooked before, but that they could "overcook it" if that's what we wanted. I've had plenty of salmon and me, not the internet have ever heard of NW style. BJ acted as if we were the uninformed/ignorant ones but I think they made up northwest style to justify raw food. When we finally got the updated quote it was a completely different salmon dish. Changing this took way too many emails but we eventually figured it out. On the day of, everyone is waiting for food and my mom goes to check on it and the salmon is raw. Something we reiterated probably 10 times before the wedding. Now dinner is delayed 45 minutes. We also decided to add a 3rd side. Originally we had 2 sides with 200 servings each. When the 3rd was added, 200 servings were added, total 600 servings. I asked BJ if we needed an additional 200 servings for the same amount of people. He explained that when there's more options, people eat more. Feels like they're just trying to get us to spend more, but makes sense I guess. I then said "You can understand why this doesn't really make sense to me though right?" and he replied that he had no idea why it didn't make sense and he didn't know why I couldn't grasp it. It was very arrogant and condescending. We hired HF because we thought it would save us work but in the end it was much harder and more expensive. On the topic of money, HF was never clear how much we owed them. We had an original payment plan but so many changes were made to the contract so it wasn't accurate. After the event, they reached out and said we still owed a huge amount of money. This was super annoying because we had been asking them how much we owed. We were able to reduce this $ due to the issues explained. And now, for the first time, we received an apology. The apology seemed sincere which was greatly appreciated but it didn't come until after. Day of, the only real issue was dinner being late. Everything else was great. HF pulled it together so I'll give them credit for that. Despite the wonderful day, I would never use HF again because of how difficult they were to work with. HF is extremely expensive and I expected service of the same caliber. I am surprised by the lack of poor reviews for HF so hopefully my event was fluke. I hope my extensive review provides insight to both HF and those looking to hire them about their shortcomings.

The manchego butter sauce on the beef tenderloin is something dreams are made of. The tasting we did get to do has been a highlight of the year! Chef Suzie was so nice and helped us create a great menu that our guests would have been sure to enjoy. I am sad we didn't get to go through with everything this year, but we will be using Herban Feast for every event possible in the future! Thanks for everything guys!

We had our annual event on October 8th at the Edmonds Waterfront Center with Shooby Doo catering as…read morethe food vendor. The Waterfront Center has them as an exclusive contract so we had no choice but to use this caterer. We signed up with them back in 2020 believing that we would have an in-person event in 2021 but the Delta virus made us have to do a virtual event. Shooby-doo refused to refund our significant down-payment, so we were stuck with them for a future opportunity. Which we utilized them, as I said, on October 8th 2022. The tasting that we did those years ago was absolutely wonderful. The food was quite delicious. And that team worked with us to make sure that we would have a really good selection of food items to meet all pallets, allergies, and so forth. Thus, the food is quite expensive. The major issue that we had with this company is that we are a non-profit organization and have to abide by state guidelines in regard to serving alcohol. It was almost impossible to work with Scooby-Doo on this issue because they had really bad information that they kept telling us was accurate. It was not good. It took weeks on end to finally get them to deal with the state directly and understand that we were correct and we would not do anything that would potentially jeopardize our nonprofit status. In the end it was resolved well but the frustration that we were put through is still something that has a scab on the wound. One expects for someone who is providing a service that particularly has to meet state guidelines would know what they are doing and what they are talking about. And not asking us to work in a gray area. And that's what we were told over and over again. "Just work in the gray area", but like I said it was finally resolved. One other minor thing that was aggravating but we dealt with quickly was them wanting us to get more alcohol than we needed. We got what we knew we needed and still had a few bottles left over. And the only other minor aggravation was they didn't know their full contract the evening of when everything was said and done. They thought we were supposed to be out of the building at 10:00 p.m. but we were actually scheduled to be out by midnight. Again it got resolved but it was something else to add to a more stressful moment in time. Now on to the good stuff: The night of the event was extraordinary. Their employees had everything set up in advance as it was supposed to be and the venue looked amazing. They were so friendly, accommodating, and easy to work with. They literally catered to our every need asking questions along the way to make sure that we were satisfied before our guests even arrived. The staff members were amazing. The food was out of the ballpark extraordinary. People absolutely loved the food. We had a double-sided buffet in order to make things would go smooth and quickly. I'm glad we opted for that rather than having them serve the dishes. It worked well. I'm absolutely sure that we would never use Shooby Doo again for our agency events, because of the massive issues we had with them in the beginning. However, I do think they would be good for things that are not related to being a non-profit: Like weddings, birthdays, small corporation celebrations, and such. If you're considering Shooby Doo to cater your nonprofit organization, be careful, be warned, and make sure you check everything, especially the legality around alcohol service. Also, know and monitor the contract so that you know exactly what's in it. While the service was excellent the night of, and the food was extraordinary, the price tag on this event was far more than we anticipated. We recognize that food costs are up and inflation is a nightmare but this is a very expensive catering service. Scooby-Doo gets a five star on the food quality and the evening of service. They get a one star on the knowledge on working with nonprofits, or at least with our non-profit. They get a negative 5 for not allowing us to get our down-payment back when the Delta virus came and shut everything down for everyone. I feel they should have offered it back with perhaps a small penalty but they did not so we were forced to have to use them a couple years later. I thought that was absolutely ridiculous. I told them that I would give an honest review. And this review is that.

Despite hearing positive feedback about them, we were disappointed with both the service and the pricing. While the food itself was satisfactory, the service fell short of our expectations. The staff, particularly the head staff member, displayed below-average professionalism and a snarky attitude. Additionally, the setup did not align with what was agreed upon and promised beforehand. Despite planning for 90 guests, the seating arrangements only accommodated 64, causing inconvenience and dissatisfaction among attendees. During the event, the catering staff were conspicuously absent, leaving us to pick up the slack and handle tasks that should have been their responsibility. Adding to our frustration was the unexpected 23% additional fee, which the catering company failed to justify adequately. When questioned about this fee, we were met with vague explanations about covering costs, which left us feeling misled because they also leave room for minimum of 16% tip that must be paid BEFORE experiencing their service. You do the math. Overall, while the venue itself was stunning, the experience with Shooby Doo catering staff left a lot to be desired. The combination of subpar service, unexplained fees, and high pricing makes it difficult to recommend their services to others. You still have to use them if you have an event at the Waterfront. Don't get the chocolate cookies, or the deviled eggs on toast. If you go for the fruit plate, this cost us $1,710 plus tax. ($19 a person). The empanadas were yummy, the beef sliders were finished, and people complimented the salmon in puff pastry.

I told him my family is from Taiwan and he threw in a couple of Taiwanese dishes that were tasty and creative. Darrin arrived on time and set up everything in our home. Tear down was super easy and painless. Everyone at the party was gushing about his food and services and we will definitely recommending him to all our family/friends and hope to work with him in the future again. Darrin's communication, culinary skills and professionalism are all on point! You will be amazed.
