I came in and ordered the loaded brownie for $5.45. The total was $6.97, and I asked and they were like: The cookies get sales tax too. Got the receipt, and the brownie was really $6.45. So the food costs more than what it says on the menu. Also, the cookies were undercooked. Like doughy. Raw. This is definitely a late night carb place for sobering up by eating carbs. This is not a cutesy desert place for cutesy date or brunch. Nope. They have vegan cookies, which I would recommend, in case the non vegan has raw egg. Also has gluten free option, but super duper limited for that. Lots of vegan cookie options.

While visting my eldest daughter at college, I was assured, by more than one student, that THE…read moreplace for breakfast in Statesbourough was Daylight Donuts. I was fairly cautioned that it was not a full serve restaurant; but, they did serve breakfast sandwitches (makes sense for college folks on the go). Being the old guy who thinks he's cool, contrary to what my kids tell me, I had check it out. The first thing that struck me was the "take out only" sign on the door (they also have a drive through) which was fine with me; because heck, that's what breakfast sandwitches are for, right? The menu boasted of what you would expect: egg, cheese and your choice of breakfast meat ( or the combination, plus or minus, thereof) on a biscut. You have to know I went sausage, egg and cheese. Now to start, the biscut seemed more like a hamburger bun, oddly enough with the taste, and in fact, texture of a biscut. I really liked it; but, the jury is still out on what it actually was. In between were fresh whipped eggs (no runny yolk) dripping with cheese (reminiscent of melted Kraft singles) and a spicyer than average breakfast sausage. All in all, an interesting, and adequate meal for those on th go. Simply because the place is called Daylight Donuts, I decided to ignore the fact that my current physique is that of seven month pregnant woman, and try a donut...no wait, an apple fritter. After all, I could limit my intake to a few bites, just for research purposes. One whole fritter later, I'm here to tell you that each icing covered bite was joined by a bit of real apple, prompting me to check my fitbit to see if I was anywhere near my daily step goal. Clearly, this place is a local institution that has, in my view, earned the support it gets. The staff is fittingly cheerful and pleasant; and, the service is, appropriately, fast. My meal was less than five bucks, earning Daylight Donuts an additional star. So, skip the big name fast food joints, and grab your breakfast here.

This Starbucks is located in front of Statesboro Mall (actually, I believe it's technically a part…read moreof the mall) in its own standalone building. The store looks relatively new, perhaps built within the last five years. It's nice and clean with indoor and outdoor seating, a drive-thru, and a friendly staff. The store is stocked with daily papers (e.g. The New York Times) and various products and merchandise like Starbucks bagged coffee and tea and the Verismo brewer and pods. In addition to coffee, tea, and other drinks, the store serves light food such as breads, pastries, and oven-warmed items. There's plenty of seating on the patio which has two large umbrellas. Inside, there's a variety of seating including cushioned banquettes, various sized tables, and an outward-facing window counter. We stopped by this Starbucks on a visit to the mall and the first thing I saw when I entered the cafe was a giant ad for Starbucks' new iced cinnamon almond milk macchiato. I got one and it was delicious. It's "horchata-inspired" and made with Starbucks' espresso roast, cinnamon dolce syrup, and caramel drizzle. When served, the ingredients were separated. Mix as you please. It looked good and milky. Needless to say, it was a sweet drink and quite tasty and refreshing as well. I liked it and would order it again. The staff was nice. I'd come back.

I've ordered from Dutch Bros Coffee a few times and usually get a medium. They charge an extra…read more$1.50 to remove the ice, but a medium cup is 24 oz total, with ice included. Since the ice takes up a good portion of that, you're really only getting about 16-18 oz of actual drink normally. So when you pay the extra $1.50 for no ice, you're basically paying for an additional 6-8 oz of liquid. That breaks down to roughly $0.19-$0.25 per ounce, which feels steep just to fill the cup to its full 24 oz. It doesn't seem like a fair value for what you're getting.
