We ordered the beef cheeks, which were served cold (likely as intended but not what I was expecting). Flavor was fine but not great. The burger was also just okay. For something so standard, it was passable but not likely to order again. Our favorite dishes were 1) the duck and 2) potato and vegetable patties. Duck was crispy, hot, and had pretty good flavor! The vegetable patties were also crispy and balanced, slightly sweet. The beer list was limited but we liked what we ordered. Hate to be a broken record but we've had better while in the city. Wouldn't recommend this place to a friend since it was just average.

Soooooo... we came back for lunch the next day and walked right in! To say that this place is a 10/10 means there just weren't enough stars! From the employees to the incredible food it was tied for the best meal we had during our two weeks in Austria, Hungary, Germany, Slovenia...(the other best meal was just down the alley at the Italian place) but seriously...everything we had was even better tasting then it looked! I will die dreaming about the skin on the pork knuckle and I now have to eat my cheese sticks with tartar sauce! Thank you for a wonderful experience and hopefully we will be back again soon!!!

Nonetheless, I entered and hope for an escape from the unforgiving sun on that day. The staff seated me at one of the booths and after I requested some information explaining the menu and what's popular, they were more than happy to assist. They even explained some local etiquette and so on which was perfect for a visitor like myself. I decided to try out their Pickled Cheese as an appetizer. The cheese, paired with the onion salad and bagel was great. I really didn't know if I was eating it correctly but still delicious. For the main course, my waiter recommended a Schnitzel with potato salad. Just to get it out of the way, but the potato salad was almost better than anything I've had in the United States. I thought we were doing it right until I spent one day in Prague. The Schnitzel was also delicious. Perfect with the salad, the provided a blend of flavor and substance I desperately needed. All in all, this place was a great experience in Prague. The staff could not have been anymore nicer as I left with an itinerary on what to do during my time in Prague. The food and service were great. Don't be fooled by the location and stop by if you're in Old Square.

We ordered the meatloaf, fried cheese, and plenty of Czech beer. The food was delicious, fresh, and came out quickly. The Czech beer was fantastic--so smooth and easy to drink that you barely realize how many liters you've had! The dessert wasn't really my thing, but everything else was excellent. Service was outstanding. The servers were friendly, attentive, and incredibly efficient even with the restaurant buzzing with people and the game on. The vibe is what makes Lokal so special--lively, casual, and quintessentially Czech. If you're in Prague and want great food, excellent beer, and a fun local atmosphere, this is a must-visit.

The place was packed upon entrance so it may benefit to schedule a reservation for a larger party. As I was by my lonesome, I sat down at a table and began to take in the atmosphere. The hall was breathing with life of people enjoying drinks and chatting, so don't expect a quiet dining experience. My waitress recommended I try the sausage variety as an appetizer so I gave it a go. The food came out after about five minutes. I could be intoxicated by the delight of visiting Europe but the sausages were so delicious and fresh. The mustard and horseradish which accompanied the dish were delicious and complimented the protein so well. For the main dish, my waitress also recommended the Chicken and Rice. The food followed my appetizer about five minutes after. Upon first sight, the portions and composition of the plate spoke to me in a commanding yet soft whisper. The chicken was so tender that it melted off the bone. The rice was so dense yet fluffy. Each bite combination sprinkled with the gravy made for a euphoric taste in each chew. In other words, the food was incredible. This restaurant provided to perfect opportunity to try out traditional Czech food without leaving a hole in you wallet. The pricing, the vibes, and the seemingly unlimited beer made for an authentic experience. It is definitely worth a visit here, or at any of the Lokál chains if you find yourself in Prague.
