Bruno's pizza was the pizza of my childhood and college days. It's the same now as it was the first time I ate it 45 years ago. Plain cheese with salt, pepper, garlic, and oregano and your set up for a great meal. My experience here wasn't the greatest. The staff were very friendly, which was a great start to my visit here, but the food wasn't the best. I like ordering just a plain cheese pizza, where I can easily taste the dough, cheese and sauce without other toppings masking those flavors, and my pizza was very greasy. I'm from Italy and was feeling homesick. I generally avoid "Italian" food in America - it's not good and I can't appreciate it. My dear friend Sandra recommended BRUNO'S to me. So good! Absolute horrible experience tonight. We ordered Bruno balls and a whole pizza but they never gave us the whole pizza. Never got a receipt to get the whole pizza. Was yelled to get out of the way and never got our pizza. Asked for a refund of our pizza and they wouldn't talk to us. There were people behind us: Bruno's took their receipt and crumpled it up and didn't give them their food either. 60 bucks down the drain and nothing to show for it. Let me first start by saying I've been eating Bruno's since I can remember. Unfortunately tonight was the last time. We placed an order through DoorDash and when we received our order, it was incorrect. A pizza came with nothing on it. We called the restaurant and I explained what had happened. The worker on the phone was not accommodating, did not apologize, argued with me and when I asked for the manager, she said they were busy and that was not an option. Finally I got the manager on the phone which did not go any better. Here's the kicker: After giving my complaint I asked for the owner name and he said it was him. OH. My. God. Really?!? When I was complaining to him about everything, he did not apologize, he did not offer solutions, he did not care. He said to get ahold of DoorDash, non caring. I told him about how the staff wasn't going to get the manager and he blurted out, well I am busy and I probably have pizza burning because I'm on the phone with you. Popped in for a quick lunch. Service was friendly and fast. We ordered a phillly cheesesteak and the boneless wings. The cheesesteak was excellent! Their bread is more like a garlic Parmesan bread, which was really tasty! The wings were excellent- clearly made in house, not frozen. The restaurant itself was really cute and very clean. Holy mother of Bruno's Dough! A first review. Wow, where do I start? For starter's, Bruno's is the home of the slice. It's not the place you want to go to get a gourmet pie... it's the place you want to hit at 2 AM to get a slice of the tastiest greasiest pizza in town! Get to know this place as a freshmen, and it will change your college experience forever. So, go there, throw some Springsteen on the jukebox, and celebrate the tradition of Brun-doggs! But not only is Bruno's the home of the slice, it's the home of the dough! Bruno's dough is incredible... homemade dough, deep fried, and covered with parmesan. As the locals say, "it's killer!". I mean, you might think that the employee running his hand through a carburetor before forming these perfect dough balls is disgusting, but it adds to the taste. You gotta experience it for yourself! I'll admit, I went to Miami University way back when, so I remember lots of fun nights getting 50 cent slices of Bruno's pizza from the carry out window after drinking too much at the bars. So a lot of nostalgia is attached to my review, but I do love the pizza. It's not fancy, it's just good. Hot, chewy melty cheese, and just enough sauce on top of a crispy crust. They also have a few pasta standards, basic salads, and a few appetizers. Service was a little off the last time we went... one dish came out WAY later than all the others. OK, it's been years, but I'm reliving my past through yelp and felt the need to chime in. I used to live off an alleyway with Bruno's between the "thriving downtown" of Oxford and my hovel. I cannot count the number of times this place gave me some free food. Probably because it was only dwarfed by the number of times I bought a slice, or ten, on my stumble home. I think it should be said, this place is intended to be food for those starving at 2am after a night of drinking and partying. Don't go here expecting to get something excellent.
