The cafe is situated right in the town centre so its ideal for a relaxing sit down when you have been shopping all day!! They have a good menu with plenty of choice, not just baguettes but jacket potatoes, soup, paninis, pasta dishes and freshly made sandwiches.Whilst sat at your table you can see a vast range of very tempting homemade cakes, pastries, fresh cream tarts, banoffee pie etc and if that did not take your fancy they also have real Italian ice cream in mouthwatering flavours.Cafe Venetian is definitely the best place to eat in Cwmbran because they serve great food and the service is first class.

Then we were asked to take a seat and told he'd bring it over to us, so we chose the mezzanine area (a raised area adjoining the hot drink preparation area). All the tables were so dirty we had to use a wet wipe to clean the table (we would have walked out at this point, but we'd already paid for our drinks). Then, when our order was called, instead of being served at our table as we'd been told, our hot coffee was lifted on a tray, over a high wall that separated the kitchen area - EXTREMELY dangerous as (1) there were tables directly below it - thankfully the little girl who'd been there 5 minutes before had left (2) I'd ordered a latte, which came in a tall glass... It is pure luck that the drink didn't topple over ....(and result in boiling hot coffee going all over me). Avoid it. Serious health and safety issues.

These are clearly their trade mark, but it's not all down to the desserts. Boys, if you want to impress your lady friend, this is indeed the place to take them. The decoration, the lighting and the overall atmosphere set the mood for the perfect romantic evening. The restaurant is small, which helps even more to the atmosphere, but would advise booking in advance to avoid disappointment. Overall the food is outstanding. The dishes are elegantly presented and a treat to your taste buds. The menu has a good selection to cater for all tastes and they even include a dish created in honour of Wales very own Catherine Zeta Jones. Staff are also extremely friendly and helpful. It is true that the prices are not for your every day visit, but worth the quality of the food and service you receive. The only downside is the location, which is a bit unexpected, as once you step out at the end of a lovely experience you just seem to be in the wrong place.

The steak I had was amazing whilst my dad was equally impressed with his dish, although I can't remember what it was. Service is friendly and helpful. The desserts are something else altogether though, it's clear how they made their name through them as the wife and I have tried a couple now and they're delicious. Only real downside is the location. Whilst in town is great for parking etc it's not in the nicest area and the building itself is very small leading to at times some cramped seating. Even this isn't enough to affect it's rating though as it's that good.

So I pulled up my fav app..you guessed right yelp of course! ;) in search of a near by cafe. The pot was the first one that showed on the search and with a decent review next to it's name and only being 100 metres away from my location it was the winner (after all who wants to walk miles for breakfast!) The cafe is located in a western arcade type row of shops which was nice, as the pervious review stated it isn't your every day greasy spoon cafe but at the same time it still has that homely none chain cafe feel which was a welcome surprise. The lady behind the counter told me to grab a table and she would be over to take my order. I went with "the big one" which was everything on the breakfast menu pretty much and I did remember not to say "full English" as I was in Wales after all haha. The cafe was pretty full and everyone seemed like locals to the cafe because the staff were chatting away happily with 90% of the people that were eating in. The food was lovely and arrived on my table really quick but you could tell nothing was rushed, if I had to pick a fault and this is only me being really picky it's the bread they served with the breakfast I always go for thick bread but this was medium (told ya I was being picky). But that takes nothing away from it being a really lovely local cafe with lovely staff if your ever in Newport and need breakfast make sure you drop in. I will be going again if I'm ever in Newport or passing through :)

Very busy which makes for nice ambience even if it means you're ravenous by the time your bacon and eggs arrive (at least that means everything's cooked fresh to order.) I ordered a big breakfast which included a big mug of tea/fresh coffee for £5.50, after waiting 30 minutes for it to arrive (it was busy) the toast was perfect, nice thick white slices and not overdone, the fried eggs were also lovely and the portion of bacon, egg, black pudding, sausages, beans and tomato was enough to fill me up until the evening (and I'm a 21 year old 6' male). OK, so they can do a good fry up and a nice cup of tea, so should any half decent cafe, however they also had plenty of wholesome, home cooked dishes on the menu like steak pie and the desserts, including bread and butter pudding, were only £2; unfortunately their big breakfast had defeated me. In short: a relic and a gem.

3.5 stars, but I'm happy to bump it up to 4…read more I came here for a Christmas lunch get together with some friends and overall had a really enjoyable time. The only real negative is that I feel that everything was just outrageously overpriced, which took a lot away from the afternoon. I'll go into more detail... Atmosphere: The Green is a lovely refurbished pub, that is no longer a pub but a restaurant with a fancy wine list and coffee. It's not a very large restaurant - it's the size of maybe more of a small cafe than anything. The ceiling is pretty low, and the entire ambiance of the place has a very cozy feeling to it. Might get a bit cramped, but it certainly doesn't lack charm! Customer Service: They were lovely, but maybe just a tad bit disorganised and hectic. You order at the counter after noting your table number. When I got up to the counter, the woman was spending 5 minutes trying to get herself organised while I stood their looking a bit daft and aimless. A friend of mine ordered a cup of tea and never received it. Like I said, they were sweethearts but maybe just a tad bit disorganised. Food: I had a Turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sandwich roll which is a seasonal special (for Christmas-time). It came with a side of slaw and salad leaves and it was very lovely! Really messy to eat and got my hands sticky for such a posh establishment, but tasty nonetheless. I also organised a side of sweet potato chips and blackcurrant cheesecake for dessert. The chips were maybe a tad bit over-salted, but they had a great texture to them. I also thoroughly enjoyed my dessert! All this, and a diet coke, set me back £10 which to be honest, I feel is a little bit overpriced. Although everything was lovely, the portions (bar the cheesecake) were really tiny and I left feeling still a tad bit hungry and unsatisfied. --- Overall, I wouldn't be opposed to coming back to The Green. Nice atmosphere, great people, and great food. However, the price tag that goes along with it can't really justify a regular visit.

The owner of this small cafe/deli is one of the many people running the operations behind the display counter. As you walk in the shop, you first see a little shop that sells cards and trinkets. In the far end is the display case and counter where you can order food. The other half of the restaurant is the dining area, where the food is brought to your table. The decor of this place is wonderful - quaint country cottage style theme with bright colours, simple wooden furnishing, while maintaining minimalism. Great place for a bunch of girls to meet for brunch (as was most of the clientele when we arrived for brunch before we headed out to go castle hunting for the day. The food selections are limited to sandwiches and salads as it is a cafe but they do a great job with the menu. We had: - two capuccinos - one chorizo and chicken wrap: tasted mexican and was recommended by the owner - one breakfast toastie: came with a delicious salsa The total was about 13 quid and the atmosphere makes you not want to leave. Also they have free wifi. They close at 5pm so it's not a place to have dinner. If I lived in Newport, I'd definitely be here all the time.
