Just being open around 4 months, the place was recommended to me by my Cardiff friends, and was an ideal place for our large group to meet on a Saturday afternoon. The shop located on a corner with massive windows providing a good place to people watch and enjoy views outside. It is very minimalistic yet very spacious with a large array of vintage furniture which gives it an "established" feel despite being a young coffee shop. I was very impressed with that Little Man are very proud to feature at least two roasters at all times. This day I had a soy latte using coaltown espresso blend and a v60 using the wonderful James Gourmet Coffee from the very knowledgeable staff. I saw Aeropress, Chemex and V60 on offer.. I didn't get a chance to peak at the cakes or if they had a menu but I was very curious to see how they can use this huge space for events in future. Such a great Coffee shop with much potential!

Cardiff seems to have a good scene for independent coffee shops and this one is no exception. I went straight for their own cold brew coffee (that comes in a lovely little bottle) which was excellent, nice and mellow, leaving me refreshed and suitably caffeinated. I'd expect the hot drinks match the quality. I wish I'd had a little more time to be able to settle in or go back, seems a good place to set up for a few hours, and when I left I wished I could take it back home with me to do just that! I suspect that if I had more of a chance to try everything they have this would get 5 stars.

The owner of this small cafe/deli is one of the many people running the operations behind the display counter. As you walk in the shop, you first see a little shop that sells cards and trinkets. In the far end is the display case and counter where you can order food. The other half of the restaurant is the dining area, where the food is brought to your table. The decor of this place is wonderful - quaint country cottage style theme with bright colours, simple wooden furnishing, while maintaining minimalism. Great place for a bunch of girls to meet for brunch (as was most of the clientele when we arrived for brunch before we headed out to go castle hunting for the day. The food selections are limited to sandwiches and salads as it is a cafe but they do a great job with the menu. We had: - two capuccinos - one chorizo and chicken wrap: tasted mexican and was recommended by the owner - one breakfast toastie: came with a delicious salsa The total was about 13 quid and the atmosphere makes you not want to leave. Also they have free wifi. They close at 5pm so it's not a place to have dinner. If I lived in Newport, I'd definitely be here all the time.

The only real negative is that I feel that everything was just outrageously overpriced, which took a lot away from the afternoon. I'll go into more detail... Atmosphere: The Green is a lovely refurbished pub, that is no longer a pub but a restaurant with a fancy wine list and coffee. It's not a very large restaurant - it's the size of maybe more of a small cafe than anything. The ceiling is pretty low, and the entire ambiance of the place has a very cozy feeling to it. Might get a bit cramped, but it certainly doesn't lack charm! Customer Service: They were lovely, but maybe just a tad bit disorganised and hectic. You order at the counter after noting your table number. When I got up to the counter, the woman was spending 5 minutes trying to get herself organised while I stood their looking a bit daft and aimless. A friend of mine ordered a cup of tea and never received it. Like I said, they were sweethearts but maybe just a tad bit disorganised. Food: I had a Turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sandwich roll which is a seasonal special (for Christmas-time). It came with a side of slaw and salad leaves and it was very lovely! Really messy to eat and got my hands sticky for such a posh establishment, but tasty nonetheless. I also organised a side of sweet potato chips and blackcurrant cheesecake for dessert. The chips were maybe a tad bit over-salted, but they had a great texture to them. I also thoroughly enjoyed my dessert! All this, and a diet coke, set me back £10 which to be honest, I feel is a little bit overpriced. Although everything was lovely, the portions (bar the cheesecake) were really tiny and I left feeling still a tad bit hungry and unsatisfied. --- Overall, I wouldn't be opposed to coming back to The Green. Nice atmosphere, great people, and great food. However, the price tag that goes along with it can't really justify a regular visit.
