On Monday, I submitted a project request on Yelp for a residential electrician to convert a normal…read morereceptacle to a dedicated 20amp receptacle for a sauna that has yet to arrive. A few companies responded. One company was booked until September while another company declined. A third company was able to show up the same day to measure and provide an estimate. MacVane Electrical was the fourth company to reply but was the quickest to provide an estimate after I texted pictures of the circuit boxes as well as an approximate distance. I was hesitant due to lack of online reviews. Phil (Sr.) quickly responded in the same evening with an estimate as well as a commitment to show up the next day to do the work. Phil (Jr) arrived the next day (Tuesday) as promised along with Ray, and both got the work done in about 2 hours. Both are super nice guys. Turns out Phil and his father started the company just 6 months ago, hence there are few to no reviews online. They are friendly, clean, and thoroughly explained the work that needed to be done. Phil Jr was so thorough that after he finished and left, he called the sauna company to verify the type of plug the sauna required. He then came back an hour or so later to replace the receptacle to the correct type. I highly recommend MacVane Electrical Services for your residential needs and will be using Phil and his company in the future.

Today was the second time we had J & J Clap Electrical do work for us…read more The 1st time was for the wiring for our generator. Today was to fix some wiring so we can get our new central ac system hooked up. This past year we have had a real hard time finding good and reliable contractors. 1st ones that actually call back and two that do good work. We finally found our company for electrical!! Originally the wait time was months, but because we referenced our previous job we got moved up a little bit for being previous customers. Right at the start this made us feel like J & J Clap valued our business. Eric and Wilson worked on our job this particular job and were right on time, communicative, friendly, and did an outstanding job. When I came on to write this review I understood why the other few reviews were five stars. Highly recommend J & J Clap Electrical.

Best Electricians I have ever worked with. On time, on budget, worked well with me to ensure…read moreprojects came out the way I wanted it done. To Date that have done three projects for us: 1. Electrical contractor that wired our in ground pool (2004)- 100 AMP service to pool pad, wired 5 pumps, and Jandy Controls - first class job - neat clean - could not have come out better. 2. Installed / upgraded electrical service in our home 100 AMP to 400 AMP (2004), underground from street to house - again first rate. 3. Installed and wired Whole Generator - including 400 AMP service entrance automated transfer switch (ATS) .(2015) - simply perfect job, clean, straight, done the way that I asked them to do it.....There was a question about installing ATS outside next to the meter pan, or down stairs near the main load center for the house....most electricians wanted to install outside where it was the quickest & easiest to do....but Joe (Co-owner) said it would be better to place down stairs in basement ...cleaner, drier. less apt to rust or deteriorate over time..that is where we ended up placing it...and that was the right place to put it. I got the sense they were doing the work as if they were working on their own family home. Only issue is that they are real busy in the summer time - so I was very happy to schedule my job around the time of the year that they could do it - well worth the wait.

Lately, it feels like Service Stars' prices have gone through the roof, and unfortunately, my…read morerecent experience was extremely disappointing. Two weeks ago, they came out to fix a bathroom tub leak. I was charged $1,300 to replace the cartridge, handle, and spout. The parts cost around $250, and the job should have taken less than an hour, but they stayed for about four hours because they kept getting the wrong parts. They came back last week because the tub was still leaking. This time, they said I needed to replace the shower base where the cartridge goes and quoted me $3,400. I declined and asked them to put everything back together, but the leak was actually worse afterward. What bothered me most was the lack of transparency. I asked for a breakdown of the charges and was essentially told, "That's just what we charge." After almost spending nearly $4,700, I feel I could have had the entire tub area remodeled by another company. I also recently tried to cancel my membership and learned that it's a one-year contract and that canceling early may require paying back the discounts. That was not my understanding when I signed up. I'm extremely disappointed with the pricing, communication, and lack of transparency. I'll be taking my business elsewhere and looking for a company with fair pricing and clear, honest billing. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Service Stars based on my experience.
