My wife and I invited Pedro J. Ferrer ("Pete") of Ferrer's Electric LLC to conduct a thorough inspection of our circa 1938 home's electrical system, and to identify items that required repair or replacement. We are very glad that he accepted our invitation, and we are highly pleased with the results of his work. Recommending him to other homeowners is our pleasure. Importantly, Pete is highly respectful of the property of his client. He is neat, organized, and very careful in his work. He works quickly but with care, and he obviously has had years of experience working in the homes of many clients. Pete is good at recommending ways to reduce the costs of potentially expensive repairs, and some of his ideas will save money for a client over time. I accompanied Pete during his inspection. He explained each of his findings in clear language, and also explained his recommendations for needed work. He then suggested a schedule for completing the work, and provided an itemized budget for consideration. Pete is an easy person to talk with, and he is good at discussing options for projects. I appreciate that he listens to the concerns and the ideas of his client. Pete is also quite good at identifying potential electrical dangers within a client's home. For example, he identified in my home several GFCI outlets that were not functioning correctly, and he included in his work proposal the replacement of these outlets. He also determined that the electrical system in the barn was not properly grounded, and he installed the necessary ground to assure safety. Either of these problems could have had serious negative results. Pete presented new, important information that was of critical importance. For example, he explained that if a fire occurs in a home, then some insurance companies will check to see if the breakers in the breaker box are from the same manufacturer as the breaker box itself, and that the findings may impact the payment of insurance claims. In the case of my home, about half of the circuit breakers were from manufacturers other than the company that manufactured the breaker box. Also, Pete is a good problem solver and is talented in finding good and lasting ways to remedy challenging problems. I had a separate breaker box for use with a generator during power outages, but only a few of the circuits in my home could be used. He installed a safe system that will allow my family to select the circuits that we wish to use while using a generator. I recommend Pete without reservations. Took thousands to do a large job, and came back to do a few hundred dollars of smaller work which he invoiced separately. Asked him to come and do the larger job we had already paid for before paying the few hundred for the second job. He then ghosted us. Won't return phone calls, sent a letter saying we should pay the few hundred before he'll start the job we already paid for in full. read more

He charged us for the the time spent by his technician to get gas prior to arriving to our house. He said this was standard practice and we were lucky that he wasn't charging us from the moment his technician left his office. His technician only had a generic invoice without the company name or letterhead. We requested a formal invoice which we could provide to our insurance company and he never replied to our request. 8/16/18: In response to his reply, regardless of how bad the storm was it's not an excuse for poor business practices. Your technician called at 8:20 am however you billed us beginning at 7:00am. Additionally I had to purchase $85 of wire for your technician because he didn't bring enough. You're correct that we didn't want to meet with you because all you want to do is debate the matter with inconsequential facts, such as the storm. If you genuinely wanted to resolve the matter, you should have offered to reimburse us for the wire we had to purchase, and in my opinion, for the extra 1.2 hrs of time you billed prior to the tech arriving at our house. read more

Not sure where to start with this review...from start to finish an overall great experience with Pete and his team doing an installation of a transfer switch for a generator. TL; DR: go with Pete and his team - they are quick, professional and reasonably priced. They made it seamless and painless. You won't be disappointed... Longer review: At the initial inquiry, I will admit, I was skeptical. After calling, Pete reached out and asked me to email him. I thought "here we go, into the email abyss and I will never hear from them again". BUT, his responses were great - averaged less than 30 minutes - and very thorough. He answered all of my questions patiently and promptly. In the end, I found the process very efficient He gave me a quote range which included the variables - cables/wires, any complexities, etc., He also was able to work me in within about a week of my initial inquiry and about a day or so before, gave me a time range his electrician would be there.They arrived promptly at the earlier end of the time estimate. We talked about what I needed done, the location, the circuits I needed, etc.,. And, his electrician gave me some recommendations on some additional circuits to wire in, which I agreed to. The job took about 3 hours and during it, he confirmed a couple of details as well as asked me if he could make some adjustments - things like, the location of the switch, etc.,. In my book, not that big of a deal, but I appreciate him asking just the same. After the job was completed, he walked me through the set-up, the circuits, how to operate, etc.,. The price was right in the middle of his estimate - including tax - mainly because I changed the location of the plug which necessitated a longer cable. All in all, very well done job and very professional and courteous service. Oh, and the electrician kept his mask on the entire time he was in our basement doing the work.
